A STEM degree will take people far. He needs to stop the cap

Those people built their companies on others with college degrees. They’re leaders though but employing them would be a nightmare. You do need qualifications. The poster-boys are very few and they don’t do the hands-on work they manage the people who do. Also an important thing to note is that many of the top leaders who don’t have a degree did go to college but chose another option instead of finishing- so they were smart enough to get to a point, it’s not just some smart-ass off the street. There are many business owners who are just some smart-ass off the street and they are absolute nightmares to work for because they don’t really understand the mechanics of their success so their business is always over-stretched and they vent their stress on their employees.

That's the ONLY way to do it unless you have a full ride or come from a lot of money. When's the last time you went to a Dr and asked where they went to college? It's the same credit at community college and on a related note studies have shown those that work their way through college had higher grades on average because the work ethic is there and they're working too hard not to care about grades. I have some community college credit, no degree, but work the same career as many who have degrees from expensive universities including some with student loan debt in the 6 figures. Guess what, we make the exact same salary. Degrees are great, however, but be smart in what the degree is in and how you finance it.

It's standardisation of knowledge and skills. You can make a hundredmillion dollar company with not qualifications but that doesn't mean someone you hire can do it without a qualification. Getting a qualification in countries other than US is more of a job security than anything else. Like I'm doing IT and I've worked with people that have masters in IT but are idiots and some that have a certificate in IT with less experience but are 'smarter'.

Same here. I came close to receiving my Degree but I made another very important choice that meant the world to me then. Thought about going back to finish my Degree, but I never did. However, I did make it to Secretary level, but not as high as I could have reached. It's extremely hard when there's so much one has to fight against! I'm fully Retired now. 😊

It's too big of an investment to have it and not need it. College debt can significantly delay things for most people (myself included), like buying a car or a house.

I don't think it's smart af. I was getting below average grade back in 6th grade. It's really all if you are willing to learn or not. Time management and so much more. If you lack motivation in school, and the education system suck then obviously you'd fall short.

The thing is you can learn a lot more doing interesting jobs etc. And studying anything is completely useless unless you practically use it for something because you wont remember anything otherwise. So use the oportunities college gives you. Take part in college teams like rocket or formula teams etc. If you just go there to get a degree and pass it, it kind of looses the point

Many will have a worse life due to not being passionate about their field of study so they don't use their degree and they still have to pay 80,000+. For some it's a great decision, for some it's not. Unfortunately there are many of both groups enrolled in college.

imo school is the result of a bunch of things, firstly we are stuck in the whole idea of school since we've done since the 1900's, but more so, school is somewhere for the kids to go, a farm. we cant just hang out at home allday everyday. we would go loony.

Our education system in my home country is different every elementary school is required to have a garden at the back of their classrooms so grade 1-5 could go there and plant their own vegetables. It's part of our subject. So every afternoon we would go there and check our plants and our grades for that subj depends on how good the outcome.

@@robertrieger5694 if you're doing an MD then yeah ... but you can easily get a bachelor's in any state for 25,000. But making good decisions on course selection, college type, standards, shortcuts will all have a huge impact on your final cost. You can hit up NYU or something similar for 50,000 year after year...but that's kinda nuts for a bachelor's. Non rich people...CLEP tests, 2 year school gen eds, then major courses at state school utilizing loans. Not so bad. But you are right...if people aren't careful and go on autopilot...they can go broke madd quick.

@@adelsonthalys college is designed to produce mass amounts of workers for those with big brain ideas, if you are smart enough but skilled enough to work for someone else than college is definitely the right route for you, but if you have bigger ambitions and are willing to put in the work and dedication than you will be the one recruiting college graduates for your designs, Bill gates and Steve Jobs both never finished college, not because they were too stupid but because they realized their ideas were too big not to let go off and realized college was just interfering with their success, all depends on who you are.

It applies to nearly 100% of the population, you don’t NEED a college degree to have a high paying job. Blue collar work

Steve jobs also surrounded himself with good people he himself was just a good salesman with a vision. Woz and his team of engineers did all the work (computer and software engineers are all college educated)

You still need a HSD to even get a livable wage. After that you can get a good wage going to trade school. Also you’ll have a better chance of actually getting a job rather than getting a degree in college.

@@strav8337 You actually do. Co is the second most expensive state living wise. Don’t know if New York regained that position but either way you need a HSD to even make a living and that’s pay check to pay check.
