But can't it be risky to stretch during sets as you might increase your range of motion during working weight lifting set and therefor could injure? Also I read often you should not stretch after workout (only dynamic) so you don't increase muscle damage from workout? So this would apply as well.
@GotROM yes both but I have hyper mobile shoulders so they're unstable. Far as flexibility goes everything is good I think but could be better. I can front split but not side split. My back bridge needs to be better
@@MrJ1S Nice. Best of both worlds. Me too! Are you already doing my Pancake/Middle Splits or Back Bridge programs? www.gotrom.com/Flexibility%20University and www.gotrom.com/back-bridge-bundle
I have been trying to implement your 3 pillars Shane: strength, stretching, and deep tissue message. I have 2 hips plagued by arthritis. I think my stretching is coming up short because I simply don't know how to target or message the tissue around my hips. I use a lacrosse ball, but it really doesn't move the needle much. Maybe I need to message longer. Whatever the case, I just seem to never get into deeper stretches. Any advice?
Hey, @johnmcewan879 ! Hard to say without personally assessing you. Have you ever worked 1-on-1 with a hip specialist? Maybe it's time for some expert help instead of the "do-it-yourself" approach? You can check out our "1-on-1 VIP Mentorship" here if interested: GotROM.com/vip
Totally agree! Flexibility work is sooo with the time investment. Once your flexible and have knowledge of your personal restriction tendencies it doesn't take much work to maintain. When i do full rom paused barefoot squats with 180kg it blows people's minds. You're deluded if you think you could safely get into that position without years of targeted ankle and hip flexibility work.
@@GotROM no I'm a physio in the UK..I like to practise what I preach (like you) so really focus on my orthopaedic health. How can you be an expert if you can't even be an expert of your own body. I've known physios who can't even balance on one leg😄 There's quite a shift away from the importance of biomechanics in the UK. I think if you've truly pushed your body, been cognisant of your deficits, improved them and felt the difference. Then you see The importance of biomechanics is undeniable. Professors and researchers sat behind desks preaching this have not experienced their bodies.
He’ll yeah! Well said! I wish I could like that message 1000x! It’s about tinkering in your own body (lived knowledge) not just book knowledge (although that can be helpful!) 👌🙏😁
Hey Shane, believe I asked this on another video, but just curious as to what your daily "maintenance" time is like? How much time do you have to spend daily stretching/doing other FAI exercises to be able to play sports and do activities pain-free?
Ive seen so many papers on stretching being bad before training, so many! So i thought id try it out on myself for a bit!! Im going back to stretching more before a session and getting back into the habit of doing a bit each night!! The injuries ive picked up before runs, training fights etc have been ridiculous tbh!! Was an interesting experimental thing to try, and some may not benefit from stretching before etc! But, i know i do, lol Quite new to your channel, and im enjoying the content!! Thank you!!
@@GotROM it's funny that you ask how often do I stretch because I have no idea haha. It's been so many years I don't do any stretching until since last week when I found one of your videos on how to stretch like david goggins then I decide to try it and well yes I like it and will keep doing it. It remind me of how much it hurt my body and how much flexibility I lose overtime when I'm not stretching.
@@OJtheOZ good to know that this video got you into stretching and that you learned something from it too. Is there anything else that you're working on?
@@GotROM I'm also working on calisthenic stuff (total beginner here) the more I checked out about calisthenic the more I see that stretching is the basic way to unlock our body full range of motion to prevent injuries and to get ready for any new movement for the body. I found that your video is very helpful easy to understand and informative so guess I'm always checking out all of your tutorials.
