2:32 i did philosaphy for this too. 2 random videos about philosaphy, I dont understand the 1st video i didnt know about=your black=you now follow these rules in u.s. made for you.
"I want to be a stripper!!" "Ok,if thats what you want...?" "I wanna be drug dealer!!" "Aaaah?...its your choice?..." "I want to be a gun smuggler!!" "Its your life..."
Have you read “the last messiah” by Peter zappfe, from a century ago? It’s not directly about free will, but a mind blowing essay on human consciousness from the perspective of it being an evolutionary mistake. Would love your thoughts (or a video) on the essay if u find it interesting
10:22 a star shooting a solar flare, you cant see all of it from seeing 1 atom. the double slit experiment, light can be a atom or a wave, just like how the mind or band is makeing lots of stuff.but you cant see all of it from 1 note=like you cant see all of time from being you. A star shooting a solar flare, you cant see all of it from seeing 1 atom.
there's no "self", so of course there is no free will. It's a mirage. maybe one day it will be antiquated to believe in these things, i'm surprised it's not already. you don't even need to meditate for years, you can see this directly in less than 5 minutes observing the arising and passing of thoughts.
20:43 does the phycick stuff objectivelly exist?..., or it only subjectivelly?..., like a bottom of a glass bottle seeing food on it untill it gets cleaned.is it objective or not?...
24:13 if people do have free will/not just only care about themselves/not care about not normall/common people, Then they can listen to me and help me. Its not my free will i dont think is real. Its every1s elses i just realised/learned/discovered i dont think is real. Then ask people=if your free, then can you help me?...
The more I read sapolsky and the more I perceive the role I play and played in my one life, the less I believe in free will except in a narrow spectrum. And yet, the strong belief (and hope) in free will is so necessary to our over evolved consciousness (see zappfe essay) that I shudder to think what a world where nobody believed in it would be like at this point. It would not be good. I believe like you do (I think) that the concept of free will is an emergent property and that it did NOT exist for way earlier humans as it was unneeded. And the belief IS non material but that does not prove its existence any more than belief in god proves he exists.belief Free will may be AS IMPORTANT as belief in a higher power. Thoughts?
I think that when you think of free will as quantitative and not absolute, it shows that we are beings with a small amount of free will. We have more than animals which is why we can put satellites into space and alter our own genetics, but we never have absolute free will. I think most philosophers treat free will as an either or issue, either you have absolute free will or you have none at all, which is overly simplistic.
1. So you think the orca's emotions are completely independent of its brain (the material) or something? So is there a magical Ghost in Orca's head making her act that way rather than the causation of the input, mental state and the brain? I hope and guess that's not what u mean 2 You said psyche is evolved yet it is immaterial. How is it possible that immaterial evolves from material with such a radical change in its essential definition? Do you actually mean soft consciousness by psyche
Its a double meaning/but with a straw man fallicy=(i dont actuelly know, but the straw man makes it a joke.=and like a family guy joke too like in real life/show!!!!!). The ax on is a tripple meaning joke.
But what formed your moral beliefs? Because it’s a mistake to think you freely chose them as opposed to them being inculcated in childhood with out culture. Disagree?
I agree that you don't necessarily choose your moral beliefs freely, but once they are in your psyche they form a part of you and so you still have free will. Remember, by attributing free will to the psyche, it forms the starting point for assessing whether that entity (the psyche) has free will. And since moral beliefs are a part of your psyche, the answer is yes. Free will shouldn't be construed as the ability to influence everything that has ever happened to you, that isn't free will it is omnipotence.
Ax on Ax off Ax on Ax off "😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭" This is called dark humor. A rabi walks into the bar. A preist walks into a bar. "Non taken." "I did kill a bishop though." I think i just combined 2 or 3 jokes into 1.(the joke is ideas and vaguelly connected to reality=inplyed isnt the real life person, but mixed with a joke version of him for the joke.) (Its randomlly connected.).
