The item you pick up on 2:51 second is a wagon brake, there you control the stick (that part was on your hand ) position that press the wheel of the wagon to control speed. We used from 1800 to 1960.

The oval metal ring with saw teeth in the center may be off a horse drawn wagon and is the brake latch. The brake lever had a small piece of metal that would lock into the saw-teeth to hold the brake. Just a guess as I've seen similar on wagons. The Eagle button was probably from the Paiute War of 1864 to 1868, which involved General Crook, Paiutes, Bannocks and Shoshone.

I love the glass that turns in the sun. Makers put copper oxide or manganese dioxide in the making of glass to make it clear, only to find out that the sun turned it blue or purple. I believe your buckle is probably a compact that a woman would carry. I think that the piece that looked like a giant iron piece to a suspender clip, I think that was a part to a pot hook from a fireplace or outdoor fire. So you could adjust the heat.

I just got done watching some of your videos and have to say that while your finds were interesting, (both new and old relics, especially the dress buttons) I really found the buildings fascinating. Questions arise in my mind like, who lived there, when were they there, singles or families, did they have livestock, why were they there, what did they do, how did they live, who were their neighbors and how close were they.

This was a random first time view of one of your vids. Probably because I watch ALOT of Aquachigger vids, so yours popped up. I really liked the sleepy guitar interludes a lot. I also liked the drone footage. The locale was a different sort of environment from what I am use to watching. Hope you go back and find some more nice items. I actually have one of those white jars that you found right off the bat. Found mine on a construction job in the sand at a beach cottage we remodeled and added on to. I think it was some sort of facial cream jar. The metal lids rust away to nothing. Ok, keep up the good work. About to check out some more of your vids.

I am curious about the analytics of everything. This guy only has 25k subscribers but his videos are the best in the metal detecting/treasure/exploring category by far. +sharpshooternick Thanks for the kind words! Even if it doesn't reach hundreds of thousands of people, we still had a great time and will re-live the memories through watching the videos. That alone is worth it to us... But 100k+ subs would be nice too ;) thanks again!

02:50 ... the metal 'oval' with the 'teeth'. Just a thought... It looks like it could be part of a weighing scale. My family were Stone Mason's and we had a couple of large, very old, weighing devices in the garden that were rusting away when I was growing up. They were much bigger than this, but the principle would have been the same.... You had an arm sticking out that had a (small) counterweight that you moved along the teeth and that gave you the (larger) weight of what you were weighing. I see that there are 8 'indents' where a counterweight could be moved along, Maybe its coincidence but it could have been 2Lb increments because 7 x 2Lb is a Stone and so the '8th' indent took you to the next Stone up/down. The principle of the teeth being enclosed within a loop was simply so as you were less likely to lose the small counterweight(s), because if it was just an 'arm' they could be knocked off with the vibration of putting things on/off the scale and you'd forever be picking them up off the floor! I used to spend hours playing with the scales so, although I've not explained myself very well, the loop with teeth inside one length do look very familiar!

Bob Marley I do!!! A lot of people in the hobby give me TONS of grief about selling the items I have found BUT I have been able to upgrade equipment, camera gear and travel the world on selling what I’ve found. The experience of finding something is what I’m after. I have no need to keep random items on a shelf... after all... I can’t take them with me in the end AND if I can pay for another trip, to experience other finds with friends and family... im’a do it! You only live once and I’d much rather keep finding stuff with the people I love while I’m here.

I saw in the beginning of this video, that you are in Northern Nevada. I find this interesting, because I own a two acre lot in Northeastern Nevada, in Elko County, near the town of Montello, which I plan to call home, as soon as I can acquire what I will need to live there. I have not been there in person yet, and I have owned the lot for a couple of years. Thanks for showing me the terrain in the area. I have been able to see a little of it in other videos, and on Google earth. Maybe sometime this summer, or next summer, I will actually be able to see my lot in person.

I do believe you are correct, and thanks for your response. I used to have a smaller lot in Texas, and for reasons I won't detail here, things did not work out--because I was not sufficiently prepared. But, I did stay there a while, in a tent, and even though I was living kind of rough, and definitely broke...I never felt as free in my life, as living on my own lot, paid in full, with no bills, mortgage, or rent.

A wooden leaver some 1 1/2” by 3” by like 32 to 40” attached next to the front axle hub. A metal rod some 3’ long connecting to a barrel band like brake on real axle. LOL

Because my truck and I are an artifact ... right!? Great vid,
