Who was all down when Sam self destructed. They were all going up and down so fast I couldn’t keep track. Was it Ashton and Liam?

The only other reaction from Tal that rivals this are from Mighty Nein campaign 2- the moment Molly gets stabbed to death & viscerally reacts to the stabbing action from Matt & after when he has to get up and leave, & when Laura as Jester says “I blame myself Molly, for not being there…when you died, I wish I could have been there for you” Tal grinds his jaw together & blinks away tears

Definitely not improv as you can see him on his phone and writing throughout the episode, trying to hold back tears; he knew what he was gonna do.

@@MacMiraa still improvised no? I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say he wasn't just checking on stuff replying to texts etc. he's still improvising speech to give later or at least drafting some points he wants to hit and filling in the gaps in the moment. Might not be traditional but D&D 5e is just a heavily structured long form improv at it's core.

​@MacMiraa Sam definitely does plan out what he'd like to accomplish, and I'm certain he did write out his farewell speech in the event it was going to be needed. He's also a meticulous note taker and keeps track of the board state to plan his next move. He's done this since Campaign 1, especially in the finale.

Sam did an incredible job. The exact moment that got me was when you see Taliesin and Matt break down after FCG said he is alive then realizing exactly what is coming next..

If they do resurrect him, due to the urgency of what's going on on Ruidus, I'd think it would have to be much later after they've resolved the main plot... Sad but likely true. I hope that, if they do find a way to resurrect him after Sam's been playing a new character for many episodes (cause you know there's NO WAY they wouldn't hunt down D and at least try), FCG can just remain an NPC and go off into the sunset adventuring with FRIDA. It would seem like a fitting end to his story in C3.

Frida *knew*. When they parted, Frida said they would see each other again but then told the table that they didn't truly believe it. I think that, having made a Big Damn Sacrifice in their own past, they recognized that possibility in FCG. I am worried what this will do to Ash tho.

Matt knew what would happen if he exploded and his words of heroic sacrifice and the stakes are clear kinda point that FCG is gone forever. They might try to resurrect him but I think Sam will play it as he does not want to come back. I kinda hope they don’t bring FCG back, it makes his sacrifice mean more

@@christianrodriguez3877 I definitely agree it would be undermining to bring him back as a Player Character. But I think it would make perfect sense for them to (if they don't embark on a quest for it) at least entrust his remains to FRIDA, Dancer, D, Imahara Joe, etc. as a sort of hopeful sendoff, which Matt could easily bring back later as an epilogue or even a live one-shot or something post-campaign. Because there's no way Bell's Hells, in character, wouldn't at least try.

@@SomeRU-vidTraveler They are not going to be able to resurrect him without a cleric, and I don't think he's going to be able to come back because he destroyed his core. I'm pretty sure that when matt said "you know what this means, right?" that it meant he's not coming back. Personally, I think I would support that call, too.

I think at some point we all thought this was a TPK without some sort of Deus Ex.

The biggest part about the moon, man, is that every single time FCG has reached out to his god, not a single time did the change bringer bring anything back to him. Every one of his divine interventions or coin flips fell on deaf ears, if you recall. It's bitter sweet that he probably felt lonely from feeling like his god wasn't listening for help. It's just a tragedy because every single one of those times he asked for help it was a desperation move. What a wild arc.

No it’s not. Mori can use technicality and claim they returned already through the backdoor and this is after. Also it would open an opportunity for Sam to come back not as a Cleric. They don’t have a Cleric right now. Liam wants to play a Cleric next. Monk Sam ftw

Sam finally got to steal back Liam's soul from a super powerful female npc.

Orym's exact wording to the deal was "If we see it all through and get it done, I'll serve you. These have to be worded just right, Imogen said, that's if we see it through everyone of Bell's Hells makes it back and we see it through, that's an easy trade". None of the mission they set out to do was seen through when they found the back door. Even when Orym asked for Mori's help with the 5 Weave Mind the deal wasn't concluded. How they want to play it out with Mori now that FCG is gone is still on going but Episode 81 is where you can rewatch the deal.

I don't... I don't think he wanted Sam to reconsider. He wanted to make absolutely sure in the heat of the moment that Sam fully understood what the ramifications were. Or he was trying to buy himself some time while the rest of his brain was scrambling to think of what happens next.

Travis was emotional, just... well, Travis. While everyone else is terrified of the impending TPK or already resigned that this is it for their character or even the Belles Hells, Travis looks like a kid in the front row of the movie theater, eyes wide and loving every glorious minute of it.

I was thinking Divine Soul Sorcerer as well, but then I realized Bell's Hells already have TWO Sorcerers. A third is just overkill. And I don't see Sam or anyone playing a class that the party already has two of. I could be wrong about that, but you're right, they need a Healer now. I think Campaign 2 showed them how critically important a good Healer is. Having said all that, I COULD see Chetney dying/getting killed and Travis coming back as a Cleric and Sam coming back as a DPS. The other thing I could see happening, though I don't how likely it is to happen, is Matt bringing another DM to take over, at least for the time being (Brennan Lee Mulligan, maybe?) and Matt bringing back Dariax to allow Sam to play a different Class. I actually like this scenario, especially if the plan is, as many Critters speculate, to royally screw up Exandria and change everything because this is the last D&D Campaign of Critical Role and C4 is going to be Daggerheart. Because if that is the plan, I think Matt needs to be a player during this Campaign at some point.

@@ForeverDegenerate A divine soul sorcerer would play very different from imogen/laudna though. I could also see Sam playing a paladin as it's something we have only seen in multiclasses from the cast and it would fit into the narrative quite excellently. Fearne would need to step up her healing game but she does have access to a lot of stuff as a druid and a 12th level paladin also has access to stuff like revivify and aura of vitality at 13. Lay on hands is great to get up downed people without using important resources. To your point of matt being a player: I don't think that's happening in 1000 years. That's his campaign and he won't be Player in it I think.

@@topkekbieri Ooh! I forgot about Paladin. Sam would be interesting as a Paladin. Though I don't know if Sam's naturally chaotic nature would allow him to stay true to his Deity's Tenets. As far as Divine Soul Sorcerer is concerned, yes it would play differently, but it's still a Third Sorcerer.

I dont think D was introduced in the first few episodes, they were properly introduced in Bassuras I think by dancer's rival enchanter/smith or whatever.
