I was taught droughts bring worms in the fish I have seen it in the sides of fish. One time in Louisiana the Sabine river ever fish we caught do to drought.
I would like a vote here people to show Catfish Dave that we would like him to bring back his music in his videos. Like time’s past. Well, it’s Ben 10 days since we took this pole and I think out of a couple of polls takers and leaving their comments about too much music on RU-vid and all that but what I mean is if you go back to his older videos and when he’s cracking in a fish. He throws some music in there a little banjo or a guitar I just cool what is real in the fish and playing that music in the background I’m not talking about playing music the whole damn video. Hell no what is cranking on the fish that is so cool when he puts his music in it
Man that was the biggest striper I have ever seen. You sir are a master fisherman by not only catching something like that but taking the time and care to make sure it survived the encounter. The sport could surely use more people like you.
Love your honesty and being humble. I live on a river and fish all the time and am in the same boat with you my friend. It takes time and talent to knock down big cats like this. Don’t come easy.
I sure appreciate Dave's respect for that big striper. So many of the guys on the fishin' videos will do everything but write a letter to mama while they pose with some big bass instead of giving the fish a chance to survive
Striper aren’t as hearty as Largemouth or catfish. They spawn in my river twice a year, but California drought made that problematic recently. They are one of the better eating freshwater fish.
Absolutely respectful of the resource! Sets a great example for our young folks. No cussin, no bitchin, no drugs or alcohol. Pure fishin! Dave is a good man.
Yep… there is a local,(Phoenix), RU-vidr, that keeps fish out of the water interminably, while repeating the weight over and over again, every 10 seconds… “ yep, 6 lbs, 12 ounces, …yep, 6 lbs, 12 ounces, … yep, 6 lbs, 12 ounces, yep, 6 lbs, 12 ounces”. All the while, the fish is suffering… I stopped watching, and unsubscribed.
“Not even a big fish” .. That first one is bigger than my current PB.. Dave thanks for the videos man, I came across your channel a few weeks ago and I’m “hooked” .. You have patience, Great tips and advice , and no big ego and fancy sponsors .. just a regular guy who loves to fish and is damn good at it!! .. If you ever hit the Ohio river I have some family owned property with a couple of private docks by Marietta! 🍻
I make my living fishing and iam very impressed with Dave and some of the other Catfish content folk in their conservation efforts. I think people tend to pass judgement on Catfish guys when in reality iam seeing better fish care and catch n release practices from this group over any of the others. Heck of a day my man and great job caring for those prized specimens. Let em go let em grow
Bass tournament fisherman are the worse. They'll murder you if you dare keep a bass to eat, but anyone that has walked the banks after a big tournament has no doubt seen the dozens of dead bass "released" after weigh in, after being in a live well all day, all so some prick can win some paper currency. Absolutely shameful. Im sure its the asian carp ruining the bass populations, nothing to do with pulling hundreds if not thousands of spawning fish every spring off their beds.
@whiteyfisk9769 You know there was a time I would have agreed with you but you obviously are not keeping up on it. You are still correct at club level etc but the bigger tours have gone to a weighmaster in the boat so fish gets weighed and released immediately which is awesome and I would say needs to be done with all fishing tourneys period. Now as far as just being general dickheads the BASS guys are king. Bunch of primadonnas riding around in 100k rigs and claiming to own the water damn near when tourney fishing. Catfish guys nope!!! Love the success and the fact a kid fishing from the bank has a legit chance of winning a derby
The polls are still open people as of now 67 yes to 125 comments and the yes have it. So Dave can you bring some of your music back, your very good at it. Your videos are great Thank you
Haha I remember back in the 70s as a little boy, me and my dad caught over 20 catfish one day. While dad pulled up anchor, I let them all go. He was not happy. But I slept good ! Catch and release. Awesome.
Dav I’m gonna watch her you put on an awful awful nice soul but I do miss your music would you please bring it back please thank you kindly and God bless
Nice to watch I remember watching al Linder in the early 1980s on regular TV and darn look at me know watching you tube 😅 I still don't have anything but antenna TV but this is cool😊
Great video Sir and some nice fish I live in Michigan and we got some big fish up here so I know how you feel about catching big fish God bless and stay safe brother
I look at these pristine videos in gorgeous environments and say to my self why are we spending so much time trying to populate a barren red rocky planet with no oxygen or chance of farming. This beautiful planet is as good as it gets for us. We need to save this world rather than go elsewhere with less than ideal living conditions.
6:11 Ya need to set up a hummingbird feeder, Dave! That lil guy looked hungrier than the Blues ! Shoot those Stripers back in the water like a dart, head first. That gets them down into the cooler temps faster. It seems to work ! J/S
I would love for my 2 kids to catch a catfish like that. They love to fish. I've caught enough for my lifetime, it's fun to see them get so excited... Like Christmas morning...
That was a Great video Dave, sure enjoyed it. The time spent reviving that Stripper was Fantastic, a lot of guys wouldn't have done that and the fish would have just died. Hats Off to you, Wow what some Fish.
Ive never had any luck out of the head piece, only gar. The best skipjack piece IMO is the piece next to the head and the skipjack liver is a phenomenal bait!!
From watching your show I have learned so much. I used to trot line fish 30-40 years ago. I used suspend my lines 6-8 feet below the surface, only put them out at night and used ivory soap, hot dogs, fiddle worms, muscles, etc and had skipjacks everywhere but didn’t use them. Your method contradicts everything I did and now I realize I worked myself to death and didn’t catch a lot but could have if I did what you do on your show. It’s great you take such care in releasing those stripers. Live to fight another day👍
Hello Catfish Dave I use spinning rods when catfishing the Chemung river in Elmira NY because of the snags shopping carts and cars and trucks at the bottom of the river bait tasting rods won't work in the Chemung river in Elmira NY spinning rods are the ones that works the best
I've fished the Mississippi river here in Mo. Quite a bit and fished with herring for the big blues. They are a lot of fun but a lot of work as well. I've lost a couple over a hundred pounds unfortunately. I have landed a few though up in the 80lb class. That's a good looking river. Thanks take care and stay safe out there.
Dude, I've been finding you for a while. You make pretty good videos. I learn a lot from them but can you please do a video? How to set up the rig and hooks?
Beautiful Striper there Guy! Out of all my fishing days, my best moments was landing those big bass. No other feeling like it. Love your channel. Thanks for sharing!
I have been fishing for more than 50 years and I had always believed the larger the better was the goal. But I have softened on that belief over time. The big fish are the old fish and usually the breeders that keep the stock going. When we hook them and bring them to the surface with the usual amount of handling and hook removal we are sending them back with significant damage and often a slow death. I no longer put large hooks and bait in the water hoping to catch that elusive big one. In fact I no longer catch unless the bait is small and the hook is barbless. Only catch and release. I will catch the odd large one even with small hook and bait but I try to keep the damage and handling as quick as possible.
I like watching your channel partially because you don't talk a million miles a minute You know how to catch em ! Good luck I hope to see more of your videos . Do you eat catfish ?
Hey Dave, how many times have you wished that you had an electric winch on your fishin' pole while out there by yourself? I just started watching you today, and I am truly impressed with the ones that you reeled in on this video. Thanks for sharing your fun .
I wanna comment on how much I like ya boat. Looks very stable with plenty of walkaround room. Those 4 stroke Yamahas are hard to beat. I ran em offshore 20 - 35 miles and they never missed a beat. See you like circle hooks or from lack of hook set appears so. Awesome fishing day.
Dave you remind me of my uncle Billy A. Great video. Nice Fishing Sir, That Moby Dick catch and "Ol dinky" had me falling out my chair. Lol great stuff brother!!
Real nice release. I take plenty of fish, when It suits me, and I release lots. If you’re going to take the time and effort to release them it’s nice to see it done properly so the fish will survive. If you’re not going to do it properly, then put the fish on ice and make use of it. Good video !
Oh Yeaahhh! That was fun just watching! Handling cut bait and eating with the same hands. A true fisherman. I've caught a few blues, but now I am back in Missouri and could use some coaching on how a Flathead acts as opposed to a Blue. I am surprised you caught one, though, I've always thought Flatheads were nocturnal. One thing I do know: Dave is the CLEANEST catfisherman I've ever seen. Most of us get dirty pretty quickly. BTW, we would have liked to have seen the "rough" fish you caught. What kind of carp do you have there? Big gold reverted Koi? Quillback? Any Gar? Big Buffalo are not only large muscle work, they look really cool. Big Drum? Folks get off on their croaking. White Perch? Do you have those? The greatest thing about tightlining a nightcrawler in Missouri? A LOT more species in one day.
