Anyone who is a follower of Jesus tries to live to that standard, imperfectly, but with a real effort. If they don’t, are they really followers of Jesus? These talks are inspiring to me to try harder.

I am a born-again Christian. I am going to vote for the person whose policies most closely fit what Christ calls us to do. I see more liberal candidates doing that.
After a deep dive, and a peek behind the curtain many years ago ( it all started with an indepth look at gerrymandering, here in America) I was floored by the overwhelming fact that conservatives are far more violent, prone to scandals, investigations, jail time... and that, as you stated, that Liberals were actually doing the work of Christ. And to top it off, they are now demonizing, and someone physically attacking, and even killing the very same people they are so very clearly called to feed. The more I dug, and investigated, the worse it got. It was an absolute gut punch! But! Ive always tried to have a scientific approach to new information. I.E. I change my perspective, once I get new information that challenges the old. So, reluctantly, thats what I did, and I have never looked back. And, now that MAGA had decimated any scrap of human decency, let alone Biblical principles, there is very little chance that my perspective will ever change!

If what I've read is correct, it was originally used by non-Christians as a pejorative term. I'd hate to see things come full circle. The definition didn't/shouldn't change. You held your ground and stayed true to your principles. It's the ones who hijacked conservatism and replaced it with far-right populism and libertarianism who aren't conservatives. They stole a label, but that's just a name. They can call themselves conservatives or socialists or communists, whatever, considering their values are far-right or libertarian, that's what they are. I can call myself an American all I want and many people might even believe me, it doesn't change the fact that I'm not. I'm European and I've never been to the US. They hijacked a label and some political parties, not the values and principles.
I've been a member of two churches; one super conservative/fundamentalist, the other has a healthy mix of liberals and conservatives. My observations are conservative Christians are decent at helping each other, liberal Christians are great about helping/serving others, no matter what the circumstances
Without “conservatives” or “liberals”, who would participants in either group have to debate with, test their ideas against, exercise their empathy for? There is value, as well as consequence everywhere you look. To shun and/or ignore persons and/or ideas that are different than yours is to limit your ability to learn and grow. I am liberal because I have read the words of Jesus and try to follow them. How he tells us to live, lines up with the liberal ways of thinking. I'm sorry, but that comment sounds like when a child says to their mother, "You love her (sibling) best!"
It's not about political parties. It's about human decency. I have friends and family who are Republican and very conservative. We get along just fine and we'll do virtually anything for each other. What I have trouble swallowing is "I'm a Christian" in one breath followed by blanket racist or xenophobic remarks in the next. Jesus advocated being kind and helpful to strangers and foreigners. If people are going to call themselves Christian, then they should start striving to adopt an attitude that reflects the Teachings of Jesus. The MAGA attitude doesn't even come close.
I'm worried about the people using religion to harm others. They seem afraid. They assauge their fears by bringing others in with them - others who are afraid. And they seem desperate for acceptance. A lot of us have family members who have changed in recent years.
You do your best to follow Christ. You stand for His teachings, and you stand up to the hypocrites like He showed us to do. Love your good heart and the way you do your best to walk in the ways of Christ, and try to bring us along with you.

A lot of people interpret the commandment "done take the Lord's name in vain" to mean don't curse. To me, it means don't use God to further your wants. That's what a lot of Christian Nationals seem to be doing.

I am an independent (yes, I have voted for Republicans, Democrats, and third party -- and been pleased with some, disappointed in others, and "eh" with a few in my 79 years -- only 58 voting). But the current "turn" of what I have come to call the Trumplican party (it sure isn't the Republican party of my father and paternal grandfather) is nothing like the historical Republican party. It is and was always about what my one daughter calls "the two simple rules." Love God and love your neighbor. As our Lord says, "On these two, hang all the Torah (law) and the Nevi'im (prophets). When anyone says that preaching the Sermon on the Mount is "woke liberalism" all I can say is, "well, yes, it is." There can still be plenty of room for honest discussion of how best to accomplish it among liberal, conservative, progressive, and cautious viewpoints. But the current "right" has taken it way past that.
My alma mater is a religious university in the Midwest. It’s run by the Jesuits. As students, we didn’t necessarily think of the teachings of those Jesuits it in terms of politics. And students considered themselves at various points on the political spectrum. But, the values that the Jesuits who were teaching us imparted were things that are considered liberal today. I’m not sure why the MAGA movement seems to suggest that only conservatism is compatible with Christianity. It’s just not so.
It’s so easy to go down a rabbit hole when discussing liberal and conservative view points. The problem is “control”versus “free will”. Even the Lord Himself does not and cannot intrude upon our free will. When we as Christians engage others, we often have the right message; with very wrong and non-productive methods. Politics tends to be the most obvious place people with the loudest voices interject themselves as representatives of what is supposed to be right, in the most vicious displays of bigotry, and hatred, instead of love. They excuse and enable candidates who are the very opposite of what Jesus is and expects of his children. Psalms 82:1,2 is an indictment and rebuke against such persons. And II Timothy 3:5 is another example of these hypocrites. I am a born again Christian who is proudly voting 💙💯💙!💯!!

This is interesting because I live on another continent than you. And yes, we're both white men - but it seems you can come to very similar ways of thinking even within cultures that are a continent and an ocean apart.
IMHO To like someone or something is to have positive attitude toward them or it. To dislike someone or something is to have a negative attitude toward them or it. To love someone is to strongly like them to point of actually caring about their over-all well being. To hate someone is to strongly dislike them to the point of actually wanting to see them suffer some harm. If you dislike someone without wanting them harmed: you do NOT hate them.
I still see a very strong struggle between the notions of principle vs. loyalty, that is the notion that we should all be governed by the same rules, versus the notion that we should all back our friends and allies, even if they engage in wrongdoing or unethical behavior. Here in the States, the Republican party has adhered to the 11th commandment (never criticize a fellow Republican) since the late 1970s, and was publicly known facet of the GOP. It also got _very very weird_ when in 2003 it became a common street talking point of conservatives (including my Dad) that torture is okay, and waterboarding does not _really_ count as torture. (PS: Waterboarding is totally torture according to all the journalists and pundits who volunteered to try it out.) So our _You Only Love Liberals_ guy may be contending with his own devotion to his fellow conservatives, and by implication, no one else, whether liberal or otherwise. I am not above criticism and grudges. I think conservatives fail to recognize that some people are suffering in abject misery, and every day our community and state fail to rescue them is atrocity. It's worse when some of these atrocities are actually fabricated by the state and preventable. I also am really sore about the US Republican party _knowingly_ clinging to policies that drove the US to it's current situation, being one election away from one-party autocracy. They knew it would come to this in the 1980s, but didn't care to actually make the changes. (On the other hand, the global response to the climate crisis and the plastic crisis have shown it just may be human nature to accept crises that require only passive disinterest to accelerate, much like a horse will insist on staying in its stable as it burns down around it.) In fact, the US has never adhered very well to the rule of law (that law is applied to everyone equally) and we are running out of myths and fables we've used to prolong the status quo and delay the class war. And yes, we're not the only mammal who will purge (commit genocide on) our oddball neighbors ( _Purge the mutant, the heretic, the unclean!_ ) when we confront scarcity, and the wealthy use their power to amplify their voices in order to distract and redirect blame. I don't believe in the supernatural or in afterlife, but we will create hell here in life as kleptocratic governments rely on genocide measures and war to distract the public from their greed. As frightening it is to face that here we are, one election away from this playing out (if we're unlucky), it's more frightening having lived through decades of raging and fretting about it and being mocked for alarmism about it. I always believed Cassandra, despite her curse. I’m pushing 80 and I remember when Kennedy was elected, there was a groundswell of people, mostly young, to serve at home and abroad. As a Christian, who is a moderate-liberal, I seek God's will. God has given everyone--saved and sinner alike--the gift of freewill. And with that freewill we, as individuals, have the ability to make personal choices (yes, choices over our bodily autonomy as well). This is something the secular government cannot take away from its citizens. I cannot take away the rights of other citizens just because I'm "Christian" and may not like their choices. I will be judged according to MY individual deeds and choices, and not theirs. Therefore, we all must make the right choices by using Godly wisdom and discernment. If a person (who is outside of the faith) chooses to do wrong, God will judge them. My duty, as a Christian, is to judge other Christians for their wrongdoing, and to do so with the intent to put them back on the righteous path/on the right footing. And I must do so with humility, knowing that I too could someday be in a fallen state like them. This is plainly written in Scriptures. It's time for Christians to stop trying to make sinners--those outside the faith--to live like Christians. There are sheep, and there are goats. Sheep are not goats, and goats are not sheep, and we can't pretend that they will behave the same. 1 Corinthians 5:11--13 "But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner-not even to eat with such a person. For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside? But those who are outside God judges. Therefore “put away from yourselves the evil person.” Trump claims to be Christian. Okay, it's time to put away Donald Trump, according to the 1 Cor. 5:11--13, since he refuses to put away his evil.
Jesus wanted to: Spread the Word of God; offer salvation to all who would believe in Him; care for the poor/sick; and expose those who would use God's Word to puff themselves up and build walls of ceremony and dogma to keep His people from God. You are doing the same, Rev. Ed.
As a former Christian, it is so clear to me which side of the fence Christians need to fall on. Love, kindness, compassion, empathy, forgiveness and humility. The only side that is showing any of these values at this time, are Harris and Walz. I'm an atheist, and I watch this channel religiously.
The word “liberal” isn’t a perjorative term. It is derived from the Latin word “LIBER”, which literally means “FREE MAN”. As in “liberate”, “liberty”, “liberation”, “deliberate”. Being a civilized liberal allows us to seek spiritual truth with joy. Force and coercion is tyranny.

They think that because that's the way they see the world, that must be the way you view the world, but on the opposite side. From my reading of the bible KJV there is no one more left than Christ. He was beyond most "isms" and as anti-capitalist as anyone in history. I will never understand the concept of a Capitalist Christian at all. And the Prosperity Gospel is downright blasphemy from where I sit. That said I left Catholicism in my mind at 8 years old but held on for mom until I was 18 and even was married in a Catholic Church at 20 to keep mom happy. I however never held any faith in organized religion after the abusive priests and nuns of my childhood. Third grade was enough for me to see the corruption and dishonesty of the "religion" and go on a faith journey of a lifetime. I am now in the winter of my years and content with the paths I have taken and never changed my mind on any human constructed church. Sorry Ed, but you have not sold me on your church, only that I trust you are a good man. I expect to go peacefully into that good night unlike many who I have attended on that day.
I am an atheist, although I have tried Christianity a couple of times in my life. I found comfort in the community, and I think I really tried, but I just bounced off. I'm not angry at a God or feel let down or anything, it just wasn't for me. The Church, on the other hand, I am growing increasingly resentful of. I know not every church and every denomination has turned Jesus into a machine gun-wielding vengeful spirit, and I know there are millions of good people who have been misled by those they trust. But certain parts of Christianity have become very dark and it gets hard to not paint with a broad brush. I do think I am pretty knowledgeable in the Bible though, and while I have no belief in the spiritual aspects, I have always found beauty and wisdom in Jesus's words. In fact, I try to use Matthew 25:40 and Matthew 7:1 as general guidelines in life. One of your videos popped up on my feed, and since I don't get many faith videos I figured I'd give it a shot. I liked what I heard and so I've been watching for awhile. Anyway, this was a long way to say that while I haven't listened to many preachers over my life, I have heard some, and from my point of view as an atheist, you come by far the closest to actually representing Jesus's words as I understand them, and it gives me a bit of hope for the world. Thank you for showing some Christians are still trying.

I know people who support Trump because they like some of his policies. They don't support all his policies though, the same as many people may not support all of Kamala's policies.
Liberals don't believe in God? Christ was the greatest "woke" liberal/progressive that ever lived. He mandated we take care of the poor, the sick, and the marginalized.....He said, while not impossible, it was extremely unlikely that the rich would go to Heaven....He told us to turn the other cheek, to forgive EVERYONE, not to judge others unless we ourselves are without sin, not to pick up and use weapons designed to kill other people, to love God but EQUALLY to love our neighbor as ourselves......and the moneylenders in the temple were the equivalent of the capitalists in Christ's day (we would absolutely call them capitalists today), and Christ turned over their tables and screamed at them, "You have made of my Father's house a den of THIEVES". And yeah.....He wasn't too fond of adultery and lying and saying nasty things about His children (and hey! The homeless and the migrants are among that number) , so I doubt He's too overly fond of The Donald OR those who worship him as if he were their new Messiah.
The "pastors" who say they are a prophet of God and they know that God is talking to them as His prophet, are the ones that I usually object to. While I don't deny that God may speak to certain people, the messages that these "prophets" give never sounds very Christlike or loving (to me).

The fact is that it is the right that has gone farther right, and in fact it is the right that no longer seems to adhere to the principles of democracy and embrace policies that legitimize throwing your fellow human beings under the bus. That's not an opinion, that's just history, and all reasonable people have watched it play out in front of their very eyes. How are you supposed to be 'moderate' about it when one side seems determined to create the havoc? I voted conservative as a young man and have now voted at one time or another for every political party in Canada for various reasons, and yet I gave up a long time ago on trying to be fair or pretend that all sides are equally 'bad'. They are not. The main driver of politics in both countries on this continent is the radicalization of the right and the legitimization of hate speech. And any decent person has to stand in opposition to that.

I'm a '70s liberal -- not a modern "checklist progressive" -- and on some issues, i swing left, others, right. (I like to joke that i'm in a category of one: a Gay Urban Theist.) It does seem that many "progressives" swing atheist, and are becoming increasingly aggressive about it, so i understand your critics' error.
