What if I told you that you're living in a world after the invasion of the body snatchers was successful, and that there are people all around you who think it's moral for terrible things to happen to you? I'm sad to say it's true.

I was eight years old the first time I was told that I was going to hell. I didn't believe it then, and I don't believe it now. What truly struck me, though - what made that memory stand out - was that the other child who told me I will burn was smiling as he did so (simply because I told him God is a fairy tale). Even at that early age, I understood how this horrid belief appealed to the darker side of humanity. Also, in case you don't know, I wrote a book. The garden of evil and the talking snake hit me when I was about six. I first heard the story and I thought, grown ups believe in that? When I first became aware of hell, it explained a lot to me. Why all these hardworking, no nonsense, farmers would consent to go to sit for an hour and listen to the silly snake story. Hell. I find the stupidity of humanity to be boundless. As if someone can flip a switch and believe or disbelieve something without proof that can't be explained away. Doesn't matter what the belief is, if don't believe something you can't go: Oh, I believe now... And trying to fake belief is disingenuous, it's like these types of people don't care if you believe of not, so long as you at least feed into their indoctrination and don't make them question their delusions. Pretty sure by their belief, you still go to hell if you pretend to believe when you don't.

I noticed this cognitive dissonance while still a Christian when we learned about the horrors of the Holocaust at my Christian high school. It was horrifying knowing that even while we were all talking about how disgusting and evil the Nazis were for torturing Jewish people, we ourselves believed that those very same people are in hell as we speak and will continue to be tortured, forever. It was an invisible weight over every conversation that no one acknowledged but I could feel constantly.

There are three schools of thought on the Holocaust. 1) Dual Covenant: Both Christians and Jews can get into Heaven 2) Judged by the Light Given Them: Good people who never hear about God can still get into Heaven which essentially turns evangelism into the most evil thing a human could ever do. 3) Exclusivism: Jesus only died for believers so all the Jews are currently in Hell. "Human beings committed the Holocaust so every human has the potential to be a monster but we worship a God who is currently doing something infinitely worse than the Holocaust."
@serazaydia
@serazaydia 8 месяцев назад
@@storba3860 We believed in a combination of the second two. Definitely not dual covenant. And yeah, it's ironic. Temporary torture like the Holocaust is evil when humans do it but eternal torture when done by God isn't? What?? One of the lynchpins for me when doubting the existence of God was Hell. No loving God would torture people forever. There is no justification for it. Torture is evil, full stop. An all loving God would never do that to people. I lost my fear of hell, and along with it, my faith, because in the end I was only staying out of fear. Any God that tortures people I have no interest in worshipping.

as a ‘full’ indigenous in the city I felt this…everyone in my vicinity believes in a foreign alien god and I’m the only one (well, besides pagans ofc ) who still gives my respects to nature, greets the sun whenever I can. Like u said, I’m saddened that most ppl I meet think that my suffering in an afterlife is perfectly fine, all bc I occasionally wear my traditional clothing which is considered to be showy or even indecent. all because I’m carrying the traditions of my ancestors, my ancestors who literally died for me, unlike u-know-who. It kinda just dawned on me that the saddest thing is that the American evangelists managed to convince my tribe that even our non-spiritual traditions are “occult”. & it’s normalized. This video is right we have been conditioned to accept this!😮 Thank u for posting this. You put together what I’ve been feeling for the past two years since I started my journey towards freedom. The freedom to choose to be a atheist, a traditional indigenous, something in between, or anything really. Some ppl may say, “without us you’d still be worshiping the sun” but it’s like dude, at least the sun is REAL. & my tribe actually venerated the moon, she never asks anything impossible of us, never asks us to change our entire beings “or else” she metaphorically illuminates our paths throughout life with her soft glow😊🌙 🌺⭐️🪶💕☀️

Absolutely brilliant. The last time that I agreed to darken the doors of a Christian church, my spouse talked me into it, holding on to a remnant of faith. Our child was in that age group where leaving us to join a group of children seemed terrifying. After the children were called to the front, spoken to, and sent to children’s church, I questioned what they had just told these children. They wouldn’t think it wrong to tell that to our child. They would tell our child that they are responsible for someone being tortured to death and that they deserve to be tortured forever, saddling them with both the guilt and the fear that turns them into compliant followers who will do and believe almost anything. I didn’t mention it again after that. We never went to a Christian church again after that.

Generally what happens is you don’t tell them the full extent of how painful crucifixion is, keep it as child friendly as possible. @@thereisnonegoodbutgodjohn363 What was the point of that? Don't you think that since I used to be a Christian that I already know the doctrine. Besides, I studied the Bible and religion in college, and it's a good bet that I know the tenets of Christianity better than you do. (My Junior thesis was "The Distinctive Characteristics of Pre- and Post- Babylonian Exile Judaism and the Influence of Polytheism on the Concept of Deliverance", so the deliverence/redemption/salvation theology is a bit of a specialty for me.) All you've done here is restate those beliefs I just criticized as being absurd. For example: Original sin - why am I held responsible for the actions of others? That doesn't seem to be a core principle of justice. Did God have no other choice but to condemn all of humanity, and how is original sin passed down, or did God have to put original sin in each eternal soul? How did a serpent slip by an omniscient God to tempt people who didn't yet know good from evil and couldn't tell whether it was the serpent that was good or God who was evil? We'll can't just ignore that serpents don't talk and already crawled on their belly, meaning we'd have to read the story as myth and not fact. Add to that the DNA evidence disproving Adam and Eve and the original sin story is further proven to be myth. Original sin is a myth that shifts the blame from God to Man, likely in an attempt to resolve the problems caused by the presumed existence of evil. It's not a real thing - it's a superstition - and it makes redemption unnecessary and makes Jesus and the resurrection superfluous. But suppose there really was original sin. How exactly does blood magic and human sacrifice work? It seems to be a requirement of all the ancient gods that some animal must be slaughtered on an alter to get the gods to do what people desired, from forgiving anger to winning wars. Why, exactly, did God need sacrifices just like all the other gods did, and how does that sacrifice influence an omniscient God? How did Jesus' death conquer death when that same "god rising from the dead" trick didn't seem to work for any of the other gods. Maybe you can see where I'm leading: I want to know what criteria you can apply to all religions and their gods equally that can determine whether a religion is true or false. All religions claim to be true, but none have any more or less evidence for their gods than any other. Why should I believe the Bible over the Hindu Vedas or the Zoroastrian Avestas? I hope you have chosen the right religion and the right god, because if some god does exist and you've picked the wrong one... the Zoroastrian hell makes the Christian hell look like a kindergarten playground. > > > Also, when someone tells you they have experience religious trauma, don't you think it's a bit insensative and inconsiderate to try to push religion on them again, without even acknowledging their concerns? Aren't you ashamed or embarrassed by the crimes of your religion, from slaughtering fellow Christians to the Westboro Baptists' graveside protests? Don't worry, I'm not holding you personally responsible for the actions of others like your God does, but it seems that your compulsion to proselytize overwhelms all other considerations such as the virtue of compassion. > Perhaps also you have not heard the cliché that it's pointless to quote the Bible to people who don't believe in the Bible. You may as well quote from Mother Goose. It shows an inability or unwillingness to see things from another person"s perspective - showing a lack of reason as well as a lack of empathy. Please don't condemn me to hell for not believing in your delusion. I find it offensive and consider it a form of harrasment. But I'd be happy to discuss theology or why I think Christianity and all other theistic religions lacks merit, which is the purpose of this channel.

It’s a bit easier for me because I was 16 when I was force to get indoctrinated, and then I noticed all of this stuff early, so I don’t exactly have the same feelings as you do, even though I wish I could. I didn’t really do much though when I was forced to go to church school (I had to take classes after mass on Sundays in the same church building), and I was sort of becoming more and more of an atheist during that period. Regardless, the point I want to make here is that it’s easy for me to do that, but at the same time I tried to be respectful. Like I don’t see the monster faces on every person as shown in this video, although in some aspects I do. Especially throughout tons of atheist videos where I sometimes think it would be somewhat reasonable to paint them that kind of brush. But again, at the same time I’m trying to convince myself of the opposite as at the end of the day, everyone is human. But I’m slowly starting to think that shouldn’t be an excuse anymore. I was baptised Catholic as a child as a condition for my Dad(Protestant) to be allowed to marry my Mom(Catholic) as ordained by The Pope because Dad refused to convert. At age 9, I lost my faith when our local priest threw me out of the church, calling me a child of evil, touched by the devil, because I had gone to him for help with my growing rage(we didnt know I had BPD back then and the understandings for mental illness was non existant when I was growing up) and I was frightened because I didnt understand what was happening. The fact that I had hit puberty at the same time didnt help because he called me a jezebul and told me I was wicked and yes I was going to hell. I went home and told Mom. She laughed and I asked why. She said he'd always had an issue with me because apparently as a small child I used to roll my toy cars down the aisle and trip him up, giggling. But we were never asked to leave. She told me it didnt matter anyway, I could keep my ideas intact. Dad told me, I was never going back because he believed the priest to be a pervert. He didnt really believe, he was a lip service xian, he didnt go to church anymore. When I was in my teens, he became an atheist and Mom stopped going to church because it just annoyed him. I became an atheist in my teens because I was angry and didnt want to believe in someone who didnt believe in me as an individual. In my 20's I embraced Paganism instead simply because my mental illness requires me to believe in something outside myself as an anchor and I have never looked back. The major faiths in the world are the toxic ones. I think you'll find that the original faiths that existed before Christianity stomped across the world and erased anything that wasnt part of their fairy tale, were a lot more down to earth and easier to understand because they weren't an apocalyptic death cult(my current take on Catholics in general) or a faith that hates females and blames them for everything wrong in the world.

So objective morality comes from God. God is ultimately good and good means moral perfection. And we know right from wrong because God has created us with a moral compass, and a conscience (con=with science=knowledge) yet some people’s consciences can be seared and will have a skewed discernment on right from wrong. It’s so important to consider eachother as fellow human beings created in God image, designed to love and live synergistically keeping in mind that we all are having different experiences. Jesus Christ, (100% God, 100% man) is the best example of love. He is One who has and can walk in anyone’s shoes. About 2,000 years ago Jesus Christ of Nazareth sacrificed Himself on the cross to die with our sins and defeat death itself and rose again from the dead because death could not hold him… I mean HES GOD anyway, nothing can hold the Everlasting Father of Lights, the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End who has no beginning nor end!! Jesus knows exactly how you feel, how I feel, how everyone feels going through the valleys and mountains of this life on earth. And the reason He humbled Himself to His own creation and became obedient unto death was because Jesus took all of our sins and the weight of it onto Himself. He took every sin that you and I and everyone else’s thats ever existed and died for it so that we wouldn’t have to undergo the wrath of God for our sins. Not one of us is good and that’s why we needed our Saviors perfect life’s blood to be shed for us that we could be cleansed from all unrighteousness. I hope this is making sense because this is so important to know! What we all have in common as humanity is that we are all created by the One and Only Living God, we all have one problem ans that is sin, and we all need salvation by God through repentance and trusting in Jesus Christ as our Lord and our Savior. He loves you so so so much, and everyone in the world! If you were the only one on earth Jesus still would have died in your place. The greatest love was shown on that cross. We could never perfectly live up to the 10 commandments (the objective moral law) that God wrote and gave, but we need the law because it reveals our sin nature and leads us to the solution through Jesus’ death and resurrection on the cross. Without the shedding of Jesus’ perfect blood there is no remission of sins. Gods Word calls the moral law, our schoolmaster. We all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and God is more than gracious enough to extend His tender mercy and grace by offering us eternal life with Him and everyone else who becomes born again in His Kingdom. ✨ Sin separated us from God and Jesus Christ is the bridge back to fellowship with God :) hallelujah 🙌🏼 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." - ‭‭John‬ ‭14:6‬‬ We broke the moral law, but Jesus paid the fine. If you were in a court of law and had a stack of speeding fines and someone walked in and paid them you could walk free and it’s legal and just of the judge because someone else had paid the fine. That’s what Jesus did for us on the cross. He paid our debt! If we hold on to our sins we will naturally die with them and they will drag us to hell because all sin has to be punished and it would grieve my heart greatly to even think about you going to hell or anyone else for that matter so this is why I tell you this. But, if we let go of our sins and trust in Jesus alone we have a promise from the God who cannot lie, we have everlasting life and will receive the Holy Spirit and He will change the desires of our heart to desire the things of God and what is objectively morally good :) what a beautiful thing isn’t it? 2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” I know I typed a lot and there’s so much more i could share! But I really hope you take time to read this and think about my motive with sharing this with you. God is calling you to Himself! If you need prayer for anything at all don’t hesitate to message me. Thank you so much and I hope you think about this all with a sense of urgency because your soul is SO valuable and I’d love to see you in Heaven when we’re on the other side of eternity.

Christian’s are not perfect and we (should) never claim to be. I am sorry for your negative experiences but I think everyone needs to understand that Christian’s still do bad stuff because we are human as well. As for your “death is the end” mentality. This would mean that nothing matters, if everything will end then why does anything you do matter? If there is even the remote chance of heaven or something else existing you should search for it, even if you waste your life finding it, life wouldn’t mean anything anyway.

As someone indoctrinated from birth who escaped several years ago… The strongest thought I have is… If I need fear to drive myself to be a good human, then I am not a good human. Being good is doing good, moral actions without an alternative motive for doing so. Catholicism robbed me of myself, my family, and my sanity. I was lucky, I escaped. My parents on the other hand are still very much in it. My mother seems to be splitting off but it’s hard to know if she actually is, or if she’s just waiting on a moment for me to be vulnerable so she can drag her “poor lost sheep” back into the cult. I’ll never return to that cult, ever. And if one day all of the US Government got taken over by Christians…I will fight for the freedom of me and all future generations. The time for religion is over.

Good except this part: _Atheist is not a kind word that I like to describe myself as_ You have an outdated view on atheism, likely inherent from a Christian upbringing. Openly stating you are atheist (no belief in any of this God filth nonsense) generally shows you can reason, you likely have secular values, you probably sway towards humanist rights of equality especially towards equality of the sexes and children to be seen and heard. The story of hell is infinitely more terrifying than anything nature can provide. The human mind has not evolved to withstand such terror, nor could it. If you believe in hell, you have to know that this fate may well await you yourself, and that people you loved may be undergoing the torture at this very moment. Anyone who truly, fully, believed in this story would have long ago gone completely mad and would be locked in a padded cell. Hence the unavoidable conclusion that the belief in hell is held at a surface level--no one truly, deep down, believes it.

Disagree. People genuinely believe it. I know because I genuinely truly did. There are two options other than insanity: you constantly use mental blockers and justifications and distractions to avoid insanity (my case), or you have all conscience purged out of you.

I was raised with the belief of an eternal hell. The very concept of indiscriminate eternal torture became alien to me when I got old enough. It’s one of the main reasons why I left Christianity behind. Having said that I still believe in God. However, the idea of an eternal hell is still a contemptible idea that I wholeheartedly reject.

@orias12
@orias12 10 месяцев назад
Likely because you missed the point. It is a basic tenet of their faith that all people are born into sin. Based on that simple concept, all people are inherently evil. What they are probably baffled at is that you are so quick to call Christians evil for what they believe, while at the same time unable to see your own evil staring right back at you. Second, you are calling them evil for believing that certain people deserve to be punished for all eternity. But that is wrong as well. All people without exception deserve to be punished for all eternity, because all people are inherently evil, without exception. This is the base state without Jesus. All people are damned. They do not like this. They do not see it as a good thing. It frightens them more than anything. They do not want to suffer any more than you do. But they believe their god will forgive them. They believe that if their spent for their sins, god will wipe their slate clean and accept them into heaven. According to the Christian faith, god is not an All Loving god. God is vengeful. God will punish and punish justly for those that deserve it. We all deserve eternal punishment. We will all meet that fate, unless we accept Jesus as our savior. They want everyone, everyone to accept Jesus. They want everyone to be saved. They want everyone to live in happiness for eternity. You laugh at that sentiment and call them evil, when all they want for you is eternal happiness in heaven. That is why they do not understand you. That is particularly why you cannot get through to them. You would tear down their beliefs and condemn them to eternal damnation. According to them, you are the devil at their door. You are tempting to turn their backs on salvation. You have succumbed to your inherent evil. While they strive to overcome it through gods grace.

We all know how christians love to point at Hitler anmd scream atheist, and some of us say he was catholic (which he was). My apporach is usually first a mention of Dahmer, and how he got "saved". And when it comes to Hitler, I say "We don't know what he beleieved, if he did what he did for his religion (read Mein Kampf, at least the rethoric is there). He was raised catholic, christian, but that didn't stop him."

This potent dialogue is a masterpiece. A wake-up call. A major cause of the horrors is malignant narcissists who use their charisma to push disgusting ideas and make them seem normal. This is the devil-at-work that believers are blind to, cultivated by the sick charisma of their pastors.

All Humans need to repent & Believe in Jesus as their God. Why? Because all Humans have sinned (lied, lusted sexually, stolen, dishonoured parents etc). Avoid the fires of Hell (justice of God) and choose Heaven today. Jesus defeated death by rising from the dead. GOD IS HOLY

Jesus is God and so very powerful so you ought to listen In one of my visitations to hell, Jesus showed me a person who was a Christian (Jesus said “he was a Christian like you”). But the guy unfortunately started sleeping around (1 cor 6:9). God’s holiness means He will not coexist with sinners forever therefore Repent (Luke 13:3) and have a relationship with Jesus.

When he found out I was an atheist he began to brag about how I was going to burn in hell and how he wasn't which deeply disturbed me. I tried to mention it to someone but they dismissed it like it was nothing and that annoyed me and disturbed me as well. It was pretty fucked up.
