I competed at the World Championship in Miami in 2007. I was an amateur, but I did watch all the pros warm up and compete. When you see the World Champ warm up with a 12 kg KB you learn that all the weights 6:41 have their purpose.
Great video, I saw a couple of videos talking about your Kettlebells, and am bummed that they are out of stock, but I plan to buy a pair of 16KGs after this video. I currently own the onnit primal bells which I like for swinging, but I know when I start Cleans, and other movements I'm going to need something that is better on my wrists. I'm super new to this and am still learning but it's been fun thus far! Thanks for the videos, super helpful!
Thank you so much for this, I’ve just started kettlebell training and I’m using a 16kg kettlebell. I was immediately plagued with the concern of it not being heavy enough for me, but this video has really helped me understand the importance of just getting my technique right. 🙏🏾🔥🇬🇧
I love my 8kg bell. Zero buyers remorse. I worked up to a >200 rep 10 minutes snatch with the 8kg following Denis Vasilev’s program outlined in his book ‘Kettlebell Sport a Training Methodology Tutorial.’ I’m currently in week 11 and I’ve moved up to a 12kg bell. Soon the 14 and so on. I’m starting to notice my speed decrease and I’m not sure I’ll be able to keep that 200 reps in 10 minute pace. After using the 8kg bell for a month I noticed a few things. An 8 or 10 minute set is still brutal even with a light weight. It kicked my ass. My shoulders got sore and I’m appreciative I used low weight because of the high volume and my low skill level. I still use the 8kg. I use it for mobility like halo and Turkish get ups and basic juggling. It’s just fun! I use it almost every other day and it’s awesome. Thank you Pro Kettlebell! I love my bells and I’m so enjoying training with them. Maybe I’ll start long cycle training next 🤔
Some very interesting thoughts there, I agree we can definitely overlook form and reps and lightweights are a safer way to do it. As with all things, this is an aspect of training and mixing it up keeps it interesting ❤
I've been using kettlebells for over 20years. I have had times when I've been unwell and couldn't train for several weeks. I don't jump straight back onto a 28kg kettlebell or 32kg. I pick up an 8 or a 12kg and build it back up. Some exercises a beginner couldn't do with a heavier weight like windmills or Turkish getups etc you need to start off light to avoid injury
I really like this perspective you present Nikolai. I'm strongly considering ordering a pair of Atlas' even though I returned a pair of Apollos a year ago and I think my technique was seriously flawed which made your kettlebell feel uncomfortable and I also thought the Apollo was quite large in diameter. I want to give your bells another chance. Is the Atlas for both genders?
