Hi i am looking to order atlas or apollo as well. I am 6.2 medium slim built. which one do you recommend? been working with a competition style BOS bell 12kg ( for about a month)
@joelwillis2866 LOL Thanks, but to be fair, we filmed this 4 years ago, and I was using 12 kg. I'm going to do it again tomorrow with 16s and see where I'm at. Wish me luck 🙏
Thanks for the full disclosure lol! That does make me feel a tad better because I was using 16 kg and the size of those competition kettlebell always throws me off. I was thinking you were using like a 22 or 24 kg kettle and throwin’ that thing around like it was nothing. Still though, I don’t think I could’ve kept up the pace that you did with a 12 kg kettlebell. I was a round and a half behind you at the end. Happy fourth!
I competed at the World Championship in Miami in 2007. I was an amateur, but I did watch all the pros warm up and compete. When you see the World Champ warm up with a 12 kg KB you learn that all the weights 6:41 have their purpose.
Great video, I saw a couple of videos talking about your Kettlebells, and am bummed that they are out of stock, but I plan to buy a pair of 16KGs after this video. I currently own the onnit primal bells which I like for swinging, but I know when I start Cleans, and other movements I'm going to need something that is better on my wrists. I'm super new to this and am still learning but it's been fun thus far! Thanks for the videos, super helpful!
I'm totally new to this sport, and not clear. The sport is to do the movements, as rules direct, for a specific amount of time, for as many as you can. Not sure where "looking ripped" or having a "low heart rate" come into it. A parallel I would draw is someone posting a big powerlifting total as a lightweight and not "looking strong". So what? They won.
At a certain skill level obtained in kettlebell sport and other sports, it is possible to perform well at those sports , but not achieve many of the health benefits of the sport because of the efficiency that has been obtained. The best in the sport know that this is when additional effort must be undertaken to increase their overall fitness level in order to progress and stay in optimum physical condition.
@ProKettlebellWorkouts I understand and agree to some extent. I still think a sport is a sport and the goal is winning. What I think wasn't considered here, rather than how the competitors physiques look to the general public, was how this sounds to someone who maybe started out being horribly out of shape, worked hard to improve, puts up decent numbers, and now is getting shade thrown on them (and maybe won't compete) because they don't have "the look" (and maybe they never will).
This is so true. Any form of exercise is not enough to make you look fit if you're just going to continue shoveling pizza and pie down your neck hole. But as always, training is the easy part. Controlling what goes in your mouth is way harder.
I came to KB sport very obese. It helped me a lot to get into better shape (I lost 9 kg without changing my diet). Even though I'm still obese, I would do it all again in the same way! The technique helps you move your body more efficiently, and even now, after two years, I am still improving my technique. I feel that KB sport transformed me from the inside out, and I recommend everyone, no matter their shape, to check it out. When you can do 150 snatches with 16 kg like I can at the age of 46, even though you are obese, it gives you an amazing feeling of "I can" and helps you to improve.
Hey brother I just finished this work out. It seems went I do 2 handed swings even with perfect form and slowing down my back gets fucked up. Doing single handed swings will I get the same benefits?
Some very interesting thoughts there, I agree we can definitely overlook form and reps and lightweights are a safer way to do it. As with all things, this is an aspect of training and mixing it up keeps it interesting ❤
I started my Kettlebell Journey at Seattle Kettlebell Club! Never stopped except for about 18 months when I got Tennis Elbow in a none Kettlebell incident. Thanks Nikolai!!
Hey, I’ve got an idea, remove material from where the arm rests and place it on the sides, the base shape will change, but that’s not important. The important thing is maintaining total mass. And it might also help with stability. Also, if you place some bezels at the vase, you can move the base mass around without problem, this might help with stability, HEB holding the dumbbell upside down, because the center mass will be closer to your hand. Please contact me if you like my ideas, I love to criticize designs and improve ideas
I want to say 16kg, but it was a while back. I know he kept it loght because he just finished his kettlebell sport training. Good job. 20kg and 24kg are legit weights for this class
Thank you so much for this, I’ve just started kettlebell training and I’m using a 16kg kettlebell. I was immediately plagued with the concern of it not being heavy enough for me, but this video has really helped me understand the importance of just getting my technique right. 🙏🏾🔥🇬🇧
This is what I have been realizing for about the past 2 months… dipping my toe into the sport side because I have become fascinated with the mechanics and technique.. tweaking and getting a lil and a lil better each session! My poor technique has caused me severe exertion headaches due to that tenseness and inability to relax you mentioned but for me anyway with no formal sport training it’s a baptism by fire lol and it’s been a hot fire flaming my stubborn refuse to quit ass lol
@@ProKettlebellWorkouts okay fair enough. I'm strongly considering getting a pair of Atlas' because the Apollo seemed rather large. Is there as much clearance in the window in the atlas as the Apollo? Would you say there are as many men using the Atlas as there are the Apollo?
@@WiseOneSun I’m so sorry we missed this comment! Just seeing it now. Atlas window is actually a little bit roomier than the Apollo. Yes, as many men use Atlas, too. The one caveat is that the Atlas only goes up to 24kg/53lbs where Apollo goes up to 32kg/70 lbs. An Atlas is almost completely solid at 24kg… there’s just a small rim enough for a finger hold. So our magnetic chips protrude from a 24kg Atlas where used with a 24kg Apollo, the chip still fits completely inside the hollow. For some men, this is a factor in choosing Apollo over Atlas.
I really like this perspective you present Nikolai. I'm strongly considering ordering a pair of Atlas' even though I returned a pair of Apollos a year ago and I think my technique was seriously flawed which made your kettlebell feel uncomfortable and I also thought the Apollo was quite large in diameter. I want to give your bells another chance. Is the Atlas for both genders?
I'm 5 foot 9 inches 170lb male. The 16kg Apollo is currently out of stock. But the Atlas of the same weight is in stock. Would i be better waiting for the Apollo or going ahead and getting the Atlas?
Dumb question... I know there's two models, one slightly smaller. What's the purpose? If I'm going to buy one & I'm used to the adjustable competition kettlebell, which model should I buy?
I would get the Apollo. The Atlas was designed for smaller athletes who had to drastically modify their techniques to use traditional competition kettlebells
I think it’s brilliant to minimize sizes. It reduces cost to consumer and gives the consumer more value for the money. I’m assuming the profit margin on the magnets is better too, rather than the kettlebells. Less packaging, storage overhead, and easier to ship. Great business move!
