As a Police Data Specialist I was warned annually about the release of any information from the CADOJ database without need to know and right to know rules being fulfilled. To not follow the rules would land me in jail. Who is in jail for the firearm list release of information? 😮
This is insane. Often times I feel like this isn’t even reality anymore, Sometimes I take a step back and realize how much we already had to and continue to have to do to try and figure out, understand, rationalize, and make sense of these illogical infringements on our constitutional rights.
How did you not see it coming? It's foretold in television for decades now! You guys threw it off - "it's just fiction!" -- Well clearly, that wasn't true lol
It's called a concealed carry weapon for a reason, I doubt any sheriff deputy is going to "stop and frisk" or going out looking for their CCW holders. The problem is, if you have to use your firearm then the crap will hit the fan. If your local sheriff, police or DA doesn't enforce SB2 then our buddy Rob Bonta will. These are dangerous times we are living in.
Stop being chicken of Bonta. You really think a States Attorney will make a case out of a local self defense use violating SB2. No chance. Stand up for yourselves and have backbones. CA won't prosecute the most egregious criminals... SB2 will NEVER see the light of day in criminal court... NEVER
Time for a class action lawsuit against the state for a breach of privacy. They had a responsibility to keep that information private. Now they owe people identity protection and compensation.
There is an ongoing class action in LA, and one on hold in San Diego pending resolution of the LA case. A CRPA member received $8k in his private lawsuit.
Anything short of “we will not being enforcing SB2 and we will prosecute any member of any other local law enforcement agency who arrests and or charges any permit holder under SB2.” Is completely unacceptable.
They know that the law is unconstitutional. Every case they try to enforce is a potential lawsuit that they will lose in the long run. The cost of these will likely be expensive to our government (us taxpayers) in the long term. And none of these SB2 changes actually solve any of the real problems in society. It's an insane waste of time and money for everyone involved.
And "voting" or sharing your opinion just gets you profiled and doesn't change the fact that whoever is at the best interest for those lobbying and their other peers within the system are the ones who get "(s)elected".
@@chucknorris3984 Exactly, Their "voting" holds no power. Yes, as you read you already know, your voting holds no power. Nothing has been done with your voting. Certain areas are just Owned. In there, your voting holds no power.
Votes don't matter dude. Wake up and smell the deception! 😂 The reason this stuff goes on is because clowns think trustfund baby politicians give a shit about you. You think 'Trump' will save you? After he banned bump stocks? And then banned vapes because Big Tobacco was losing profits from their cancer sticks? Wake up sheep!
one of countless examples of why you dont tell the enemy how you are going to defend against their attacks. There is no reason to ever get their "permit"....nor to register anything with them.... not even if "the law" claims it to be mandatory.
I’d be willing to bet that with just the info provided I could find any one of these people’s work/home addresses in under 20 minutes. Name/email/general location like county/city is more than enough to track down the average person. THIS IS WHY I HAVE PAYED FOR DELETEME FOR THREE YEARS. And it’s why I did ad reads for them recently.
I used to work in the insurance industry regarding cyber liability (think of when Target got hacked and lost or had compromised customer info years ago) and yes, the sheriff's office releasing your e-mail without your written approval would be considered a data breach. Ironically, if a company did what the sheriff's office did, the company by law would need to pay for credit monitoring services for each affected person for a minimum of 1 year. But of course, laws rarely apply to governments or those in power.
If the government is going to collect this personal information, it has a responsibility to protect it. It seems a class action lawsuit would be appropriate for these type of incidents.
All sheriffs and police officers of California should not enforce sb2 they should be upholding the constitution like they pledge to do when they become an officer and the sheriff’s need to remember they are elected by the people not the politicians.
As per current CA state privacy legislation, name + email address = non-public personal information. Somebody needs to open a lawsuit and those affected individuals need to file a complaint against that sheriff office. They are liable for damages.
Remind your anti 2A friends and family that if they are doing this to one constitutional right, they can do it to the other ones just the same. This is a battle about constitutional rights and the fundamental core of this country.
I'm not dumb enough to have friends who are anti 2a. Choose wisely who you associate with and what companies. You spend your money with just like you would think about who
I thought there was a SCOTUS decision that said 2nd amendment doesn’t stop at state borders? So does a Nevada resident get exempted from this law? A permit-less carry from another state would be exempt.
My CCW application was denied again by Los Angeles county sheriff's department for a false claim by then that I made a false statement on my application
Reno May today is Saturday 11:29 AM I’m in Sonoma and I asked a bunch of deputy sheriffs here they’re out patrolling and out of five of them. I asked them what they thought about the SB2 and they all rolled their eyes and they said it was ridiculous, I asked them have you guys heard anything yet from your sheriff what he’s gonna be doing and the deputy sheriffs says I have no clue they’re not telling us anything and he laughed and he said it’s way above our pay grade and I told him it was crazy it’s not gonna last long and they said they know Sonoma county doesn’t have any direction neither does Napa so far and Napa county
CoCo County Sheriff replied to me by saying they were anti SB2, and agreed with the Ca Sheriff’s Association position. The problem I see is that the prosecutors aren’t part of the Sheriff’s department.
prosecutors are elected just like your Sheriff... write your County prosecutor... MOST will take the same stance on SB2 as the Sheriff... SB2 would never hold up in criminal court anyway
@ZOANOM oh...lol I didn't know it was like that in oakland... in SCB everyone is a conservative... still Oakland won't prosecute an ax-murderer... they won't wase time or budget on a SB2 case... just literally highly unlikely
Definitely a breach of privacy. I work in the medical field and if that same info was released it would be a major hippa violation and there would be major repercussions over it and i'd lose my job.
So I've had my CCW for about 6 months now. I NEVER walk out my door without my weapon. Here's my dilemma, I was told by my sheriff's department (orange county) the any interaction with a cop, I need to state I am a ccw holder. I then need to notify the sheriff's department of that Incounter as well. What if I didn't notify my sheriff's department and they somehow found out, would they have a LEGIT reason to take away my CCW. That's my only concern, because no matter the law if I HAVE A VALID CCW that's what I will be doing. I'D RATHER BE TRIED BY 12 THAN CARRIED BY 6.
President of the California Sheriff Association, made the following statement. New CCW Permit Law Severely Restricts Permit Holders, Sheriff Boudreaux Vows to Protect Second Amendment in Tulare County As of January 1st, California Senate Bill 2 went into law. This bill severely limits where a CCW permit holder can carry a gun. There have been a number of appeals filed with the courts challenging this law. On December 27th, Federal Judge Cormac J. Carney approved a preliminary injunction of the law that would add restrictions on where guns can be carried, allowing CCW permit holders to still carry in so-called sensitive places. However, shortly after this preliminary injunction was granted, California Attorney General Rob Bonta vowed to appeal the preliminary injunction issued by Judge Carney. And on December 30th, a federal appeals court issued an administrative stay, putting a hold on Judge Carney's ruling, which declared portions of Senate Bill 2 to be unconstitutional. As your Sheriff, I want to make it clear that the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office will NOT be out actively looking for Lawful CCW Permit holders who might be violating Senate Bill 2. The Sheriff’s Office has much more pressing issues to tackle and does not have the time, nor the resources, to invest in a law, where the specifics seem to change on a daily basis. I continue to strongly support the Second Amendment and the rights of those in Tulare County who choose to lawfully carry a gun. Our CCW Permit holders are statistically law-abiding citizens, who are rarely involved involved in crimes involving guns. I will continue to make sure the men and women of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office are focused on going after violent criminals instead of our law-abiding citizens. I encourage everyone to carefully pay attention to what is going on with this legislation, as there will be likely be changes and updates in the days and weeks ahead. If you are applying for a new CCW permit or looking to renew a current CCW permit, please be patient with our staff. They are doing their very best during these trying times and are focused on ensuring that your CCW gets issued or renewed as soon as possible. Also be aware that very few, if any, instructors are certified to teach the new CCW classes that are required under CA SB 2, as the California Department of Justice has been slow to start the application process for CCW instructors. The California State Sheriff's Association (CSSA), of which I am the President of, has voiced concerns with these regulations. Specifically, how they would reduce the number of acceptable training and certification entities that can be used to certify CCW instructors and ignore or disregard the economic impact of that change. Sheriffs, please put your money where your mouths are: Arrest *with any and all necessary force **_ANY_** official,* sworn or not, who enforces or prosecutes, or assists in the enforcement or prosecution of, this unconstitutional “law” or its corresponding penalties, resp.
Im from Napa, and Im very disturbed now... Napa as a community is very safe, religious, and almost evenly political (moreso liberal but the conservatives of this town definitely dont hide). But its also full of elitist and totalitarians, and the sheriffs of Napa county, before and current, have always dodged 2A questions when confronted by the people. I remember after I got out of the military I wanted to apply for my CCW. I asked the only 2 gun stores in our county what the CCW process was like, and they both responded with a chuckle and asked "Do you own a buisness or know a police officer?" They made it sound like it wasn't even worth trying, and so I didn't. Im definitely going to start attending those local CRPA meetings now. Its apparent where the County of Napa stands, and its profits over people. I just hope the officers and deputies of Napa remember their oaths. I used to have considerations of joining the LEO team here in Napa. Used to.
That's what i have been saying to people. City police don't give a shit, even if the sheriff is not enforcing it. Most of us live within city limits anyway.
Mr. May, I would like to add to your final point about a cop being able to just look the other way and not enforce this unconstitutional law. They have sworn an oath to protect our rights, not enforce laws. They swore an oath to the constitution, not to the politicians writing codes on paper. Cops have a duty to protect us from violations to our rights, and therefore it should be no issue to a "good cop" to first off NOT search or frisk someone without a crime, and if otherwise discovered to not arrest someone for possession of a defense tool. The only real opposition a copper faces is his gang outing him if they found out he wasn't arresting people they think he should have. Dirty dirty folk think they have authority over everyone, the true sovereign citizens
So this is the Bullshit... The State do not require the sheriffs involvement to enforce an illegal state policy, since they already have state police for that... However, the sheriffs hold more authority than State Police because they have the power to deputize citizens in their county... What the sheriffs are suppose do is not only ignore and not enforce "draconic bill" SB2, but also combat and uphold your constitutional rights against both foreign and domestic threats.. By them not doing anything, is a cop-out and a violation of their oath to protect and server.. Wake up folks..
When you or others are ever faced with life threatening situation don't count on cops to save you but simply show up to drag your dead body off or haul you to jail for defending yours or others life.
yup... and then a criminal who had a gun illegally, and illegally carrying, with 30 accounts on his criminal record already, kills someone for their wallet, they get off on bail and sentenced to only 6 months in jail ..
This is 100% release of personal information, what is worse is the fact that they have let the criminals know which citizens house holds have guns in them... again arming the criminals. This state is sad and we need to bring a lawsuit against the DOJ for negligence
"Peaceful" protests should be organized at the 9th circuit and state capital. The 9th is going to sit on this forever. What makes me sick is they know it's wrong.
It takes 30 seconds to find someone's actual address if I have their first and last name and know they live in Napa county. CHP is essentially state Gestapo too
"they're just doing their job", sheriff its not the only one enforcing, there could be local police, doj, fbi, atf undercover agents, any kaki pants guy with a batch and jurisdiction could arrest you and take you to your nearest prosecutor and the sheriff's department wouldn't even notice
