I really love how they flipped the script for this season and made Joe the pursued one aka the "You" Also I think Joe being confronted by someone so similar to him will finally force him to realize how bad of a person he truly is
@@trinaq My prediction: Rhys is a figment of Joe’s imagination. Rhys is a real person, but doesn’t actually know Joe. It explains Joe’s lapse in memories, and Joe has a history of hallucinating. He’s actually been obsessing over Kate, but his mind is trying to defend itself by making him think he’s “protecting” her.
@@onionkiss3451 Love was similar but she grew up wealthy, so the connection was about their heinous actions instead of upbringing. Honestly I think the problem with Love and Joe is that he hates his bad traits, and seeing them in Love who he views so perfectly messed him up. If it wasn’t for Henry, he was going to kill Love. The dynamic between them shifted after she confessed.
Kate does belittle others. She’s just as bad as the others. She doesn’t tell her friends they’re trash and just scoffs at their actions, but she still hangs out with them. She doesn’t do anything with her money or privilege and she was awful to Joe with no reason but that he was American and not like them. Phoebe begged for him to be there and she keeps thinking he wants to be there x she doesn’t even make sense.
Am I the only one who thought Joe and Kate had zero chemistry? I feel like the actors weren't attracted to another at all - and you could tell (despite Penn's great acting skills)
I don't think the mystery has been solved. I think they're pulling a Fight Club. I think Joe has been doing all of the murders, and while there is a real Rhys (who wrote the book and is running for mayor) Joe has never met HIM. The Rhys we've seen Joe interact with is a Tyler Durden-like figment of his imagination/alternate personality. Go back and watch. He never interacts with anyone but Joe and he sort of appears out of nowhere whenever he shows up. Why was he reading his own book when we first meet him? (because Joe was) And the way Joe seems to be unconscious during, and wakes up right after, each murder is super sus
Now that people are pointing it, I can see it. Rhys appears out of nowhere and is very hygienic like he hasn’t been moving around the real world - (i edited out another movie reference here so i wouldn’t spoil it, but there’s another movie this reminds me of about math)
I understand that Joe constantly being surrounded by unlikeable, egotistical characters is kind of the entire point of the show, so that you're practically begging for Joe to kill them. But they receive so much screentime, that you don't want to spend any more time with them, and apart from Lady Phoebe, or possibly Kate, they're all completely self absorbed and insufferable.
So glad you said this! I felt the same, the last two seasons of unlikeable characters were all kind of… likeable? 😂 they were fun to watch like Sherry and Carey but these guys are mostly boring and annoying. Except Phoebe like you said

Nadia is great and Phoebe is surprisingly, genuinely sweet, but everyone else, I'm like "Can we just move these murders along and end the season?" 😅
I wish for once when we got a critique of the rich that there wasn't a "look this rich person isn't bad- they're not all bad" character. It takes so much bite out of the commentary. Especially when that character is never doing anything to prove they aren't terrible by using their wealth for good- they're just less terrible than the other characters. That's why Kate fell so flat for me. She could be using her dad's money to help people but instead rebels against it like a teen listening to goth music to spite their parents and continues to live in that ultra wealthy world.
I see your point but also the fact that she's passive when her friends are being terrible....(she doesn't ever try to stop them, she just walks away or weakly protests) kind of makes her not the "this rich person isn't bad" character? I mean maybe the writers intended for that but that's how I took it. Like she's still terrible and complicit, just not AS bad.
Yeah, the whole, "Look, this killer has something against the rich, isn't that SO unreasonable???, guess Joe's the hero now!😃", was ridiculous and corny. Don't think I'll be finishing it, it's disingenuous af.
One fan theory is that Rhys is actually a manifestation of Joe's mind. Rhys doesn't really get referenced or interact with the others, just him and Joe, and it could be Joe vs his subconscious murderous nature.
It feels like the switch from Paris to London was a last minute decision. Perhaps because of the strikes going on in France? Striking of film crew (or even caterers) could greatly affect on-location shooting.
Yeah after all the France and Marianne hype, they were able to tie up those loose ends within minutes. I hope she comes back for more, having had a whole season of her built up for nothing, or perhaps symbolising that Joe can "let go" in a sense, especially when she rejected him so strongly
I really wish I cared about any of these characters. Season 4 was not the surreal, quirky, morbidly funny, gripping show I am used to. I was so bored. I can't even remember the characters' names, they felt so flat to me. Benji in season one was an insufferable prick, but I enjoyed him nonetheless. Also, I sometimes found myself wincing at the dialogue. I hope part two is better.
Kate is the most "moral" yet somehow the most unlikable of the characters. Rhys, Pheobe, Roald, and Adam were better despite Rhys being a monster and Roald being sociopathic.
honestly something that I would love to see for a dark comedy show, a person that what's preventing them from being a serial killer, is their absolute laziness,
“Barry” on HBO is kind of like that. Barry, played by Bill Hader, is a hitman with a conscious where being a career “killer” is feeling like a deadend corporate job. His actual dream is to be an actor which he pursues between kills. I really like it
i kinda hope that joe gets arrested or in some way hurt. in season 4 he's just annoying and so pretentious, it's sometimes hard to watch. i liked the seasons prior by far more even if this season is not done yet.

I actually liked You’s take on the influencers of today. They are actually this snobbish, unaware, and downright unbearable. Obviously it’s a bit dragged but they did quite well in my opinion. My only problem with this season is Joe thinking he’s so much better than them solely based on the wealth. He makes himself seem superior to them for being “humble,” but honestly this isn’t his first rodeo being around wealthy individuals.
Saw a video recently that spoke to the current eat the rich moment, and how the main problem with it is that its a toothless critique of wealth so far. All the mentioned movies and this series glamorise wealth, are created by people who are wealthy themselves (albeit not ultra net worth), and finally most posit the idea of "the good rich person" (If only *spoiler character* in Glass Onion could've beaten Edward Norton's character to the punch, they would've been a good billionaire). It's like with The Boys, which I enjoy somewhat, but would enjoy more if the creators would have balls and bite the hand that feeds them and use amazon money to critique amazon (eg. Vought fulfillment centers being the worst or Homelander breaking strikes and unions). Also Penn Badgley could sell water to a drowning man, that's why he can be a charming psycho. Dreamy ass man. Wow, I absolutely can't believe the season 4 ending!! As Taylor Swift so eloquently sang, it is exhausting, if not impossible, rooting for the anti hero.

I think because of how Joe operates, he still has an edge or two over Rhys. Rhys was convinced Joe was like him, while Joe is a killer, he doesn't see himself as one, which plays a lot into his demented way of thinking, and has helped him out of tight situations that others would have snapped under. Like killing someone, or having a dead body to dispose of, he doesn't panic and react like we see others do in similar situations. They've kind of turned him into a pseudo-Dexter, so far the season kind of reminds me of Dexter's season 4, where about halfway through they reveal who the killer is to the main character. and the other half of the season will involve joe killing him.

It’s trash already. It didn’t need this season. We could’ve left off with him leaving his son and us left to imagine whether he gets caught or not. If he’s not caught or punished in this season, it’s a waste of my time to be honest.
I love that they consistently show trying to tie what's happening to the plot of a murder mystery is total horseshit and keeping up with the fact that Joe has no self awareness. "Nadia was right,the first suspect is the second dead" fucker WHAT? At this point Joe had basically thought everyone was the prime suspect. "Nothing is a coincidence" well yes, because it is a story written to be tight by an author. Real life doesn't work like that

She's in a semi-serious role in Feel Good. Which is a fantastic show by the way. I wished it had more seasons but it knew when to end and ended on a high note too.

I was so excited and anticipated season 4 ever since they announced it, but I didnt really like the first half - i didnt connect with any character and I didnt care that the politician was the real killer. It's all a big "meh". The second half I was hoping would be better...I couldn't even finish the first episode. The plot has so many holes, again, the script and acting just doesn't make u invested in all their stories.. season I and II were great, season 3 was okay-ish, but this season is just terrible. Did anyone notice how in the last few years a show cant go longer than 3,4 seasons without getting boring? Remember how long House of Cards was, or SATC, or Animal Kingdom & they were all amazing.
