@@DrivenHard You are a credit to Range Rover. Hope they are funding you some promotional credits or Land Rover gear. Albeit, in places outside of the USA, LR expects people to use these vehicles as advertised more than mall crawlers. Which you being from Canada fit the targeted consumer. lol BTW! (and this is not hindsight) Your tires were NOT the problem where the Mule towed you, it was the front fender/frame being hung up. (different than high centered) Had David NOT dug down causing more stain on it from under the vehicle, it is possible you could have put your track boards under the front tires and they would have gripped and lifted it up. Rule of thumb, if you are caught or high centered, you need to either raise the vehicle or lower the terrain. Always shocked when I see them doing the opposite or tugging when a little shovel work would suffice. The LRD's is why I bought my TRD. I wanted the historical reliability of Toyota with the capabilities of an LRD at an affordable price. Also, your launch system? I believe that is similar to the crawl control abilities of a TRD and it is impressive! Use that more when in uncertain situations where tire spin seems to be a hinderance. And give the computer time to work its magic. TFL seems to be too impatient to let things play out. As soon as they get resistance, they call it quits and say they are stuck. lol

@@WW-wf8tu well put. After watching the reply I definitely quit on the low traction launch too early. You can even hear the rear tire gripping something compared to before when I didn’t have it on. I should have let it play out a bit more.

@@DrivenHard Honestly, I don't blame you personally in that situation. As I said, TFL is notorious for being impatient. But it would be cool for you to go out on your own and test all of those systems in situations where you have more time to see if they will indeed get you out or not. As you discovered there, regardless of the function description, trial and error with all modes can get you along in the most unlikely scenarios. 🙂

Absolutely! This vehicle might not keep sup with some others on the Rubicon trail, but those ones won't keep up with this one on the road.

Idk that thing looked better suited for a grocery getter. A tacoma or frontier with some mud tires would have handled that with ease.

About to post similar comment. It's great to see someone willing to push a capable vehicle - sadly of a style generally bought by people who wouldn't dream of going off road (at least of what I see in the UK!) Also it's such a shame that LR build a fundamentally capable vehicle and then ruin it by selling with ridiculous large wheels and plastic trim.

@@DrivenHard I'm not saying you need a mud terrain either, since you said you want to show what a stock Range Rover can do straight from the dealer, but just some newer non-winter rubber would work better in all this mud and give it a fairer chance. It was still impressive how well it was able to go over all that without too much help.

@@DrivenHard I would consider the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT 275/55r20 in the XL load rating, not the E load rated version, and this size fits in the spare tire well.

He needs a Jeep Wrangler 4xe High Altitude with 35s if he wants to off road with some bling. The Defender doesn’t cut it off road and the Bronco while nice is kinda basic inside. The approach and departure angles are just not good enough on the RRS unless you take off the bumpers and give it a lift. Any vehicle with ridiculous bumper covers can’t be expected to off road that hard. Ken Block did some ridiculous things with his new etron but you’re just asking to get stuck or spending thousands on bumper covers eventually. MTs will do nothing when the bumpers are hitting the ground.

Only 3 of them were snow tires for some reason. So maybe it was a spare that got used.

100%, proper tires would have been so much better, even just NEW tires vs the old snow ones I had would have been better.

there are no good off road tyers in size 21,and you can't put smaller ones because of the huge disc brakes.this car is not for off roading.

Judging by their last offroad tests of the Z71 amd expedition id say the sequoia would mop the floor with them. The expedition they tested a while back had its 4wd system overheat and the tahoe couldn't get one front tire over a really small rock. The solid rear axle on the sequoia will have better articulation, and it has a real diff locker.

@@Jackmerius_Tacktheretrix True but I believe that Z71 Tahoe was not equipped with the eLSD, which they later tested in an AT4 Yukon and 22 Tahoe in the snow and were thoroughly impressed with. The Expedition has even bigger changes for this year, I believe the Timberline trim is slightly lifted with 33 in ATs and lockers front and rear.

@@zellodavis8453 the Z71 had the rear eLSD but still had trouble on one rock. In the snow I'm sure its different but the Z71s Achilles heel will be off camber obstacles. The Expedition sounds promising with the lockers because when two different channels tested the FX4 they both had 4x4 overheat failures on them. Hopefully this will no be the case with the new one, but lack of suspension travel/articulation means it will be lifting wheels alot more than the sequoia. They sequoia should have revocery hooks and a front locker at least as an option.

the 4R which has fewer lockers and an inferior TMS would do better than this did?! I would love to see it... lol

Not true. You just need a bit of shoveling if the surface is hard. Also, I haven't seen this brand before. Maxtrax is the way to go.

What I have learned about traction boards is the more aggressive the tires the easier they will bite and grab onto the board. These X-Bull are trash, this was the first time using them and one of them has a crack all the way through the middle now.

Different wheels, too. I looked up his tire size and there's super slim pickings available. Looks like Land Rover offers a 19" wheel for the Range Rover Sport. I'd throw that on there and try and find a more common tire size while keeping the same or a little bigger diameter (those 275/45/R21s have about a 31" diameter).
