I made this deck unironically with ayara first of locthwain and plague of vermin. Either I would get plague and win instantly or I would lose because I ran out of rats. Best deck I ever had
for any of you trying to supercharge your rat commander deck, you can sub out one of the swamps for Thrumming Stone, which will give all of your rats ripple 4, which will let you summon a ton of free rats for free if you're lucky! vanquishers banner can also net you a ton of free cards while you're summoning a ton of rats and give you more discard fuel for your drug goblin! also if you have more money than you know what to do with, you can always put in cabal coffers, cavern of souls, fancy mana rocks, whip of erebos for more life gain, rite of consumption or sickening dreams for some big money moves, and some tutors to get you to the funky fresh combo pieces! Warning, i dont actually play commander very much, but i did run a rat deck when they were legal in standard, so i'm sure my ideas are probably good for maximum over-rattage
I did a similar deck before, Relentless Rats and thrumming stone with the Monoblack elf that basically acts as a tutor as commander. It was fun every now and then.
May I humbly recommend Ayara, First of Locthwain as the commander? Less card draw but more life drain, and you can get some value out of the rats that inevitably die to saproling tokens or whatever.
So I decided to make a rat triabl deck in arena after watching this video. And I think youd be proud. It has 49 rat colonies, the commander is Nashi, Moon Sage's Scion but im probably going to switch that out for Marrow Gnasher. Of my 10 not rat cards, one is bontus monument. Another is haunting voyage. Immortal sun, and then some removal and protection. My current win rate is probably around 75%

If you put maskwood nexus and edgewalker, you can play the rats for free with bontus monument and jet medallion. You could even make Greasefang the commander for flavor purposes.
I’ve basically built this deck but with Marrow Gnawer as the commander and then thrumming stone which can make 1 rat ripple into all 50 rats out in one turn and they all have fear
there exists a special commander explicitly designed for this deck. It's a rat, with "sac 1 rat, create 1 rat token per rat you control," very many rats.
Man i want to see a series where you get some people to play against each other with your joke decks. Maybe some of them are actually somewhat playable or maybe they all are trash and it would be pure comedy? Whetever the case i would totally watch that
Suggestion- swap out the commander to be Jared, Golgari Lich lord. Doing so will let you sac rats to deal damage, and also let you put colossal dreadmaw in the deck.
Jokes on you. I play Hungry Lynx, which gives all my cats protection from rats. And then when I cast Wrath of God none of my cats will die because they have protection from rats and it says right in the name of the card wRATh of god. So then my cats will get big because your rats died and I'll win. Checkmate, set, and touchdown, Magic the Noah.
Hey Noah. I know you love lands. Like, a lat. Can you brew a fun and easy to use deck revolving around Maze's end and Rootpath Purifier? Currently I run Rocco as a commander to have a 100% chance to get Purifier to the board, but i don't feel like i made a good job making the deck. Please, help
just add an elixir of immortality and you could continue :D and more life gain and some storm and some graveyard recycle, so you can loop and storm even more
Improvements Thrumming Stone a 5 mana generic artifact that reads "spells you cast have ripple 4" Ripple lets you look at the top number (this case 4) and cast for free any of the same name. So lets say we have a thrumming stone and cast a rat. That rat looks at top 4 and finds 3 more rats to cast. Those 3 rats each look at top 4 and find 8 rats (or more) Those rats and we just keep going till you have like an entire swarm that OHKO's everyone else and outnumbers their blockers.
