LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- A judge appeared disgusted Wednesday with an unlicensed and uninsured driver - with 19 previous traffic citations -- who killed a bicyclist last fall, sending him to prison for at least two years.
What you need to understand about the system though is that to go all the way to trial and get a conviction there’s risks involved. The risks are that the jury says he’s not guilty and he gets no jail time. It appears the police did a very bad investigation and they checked the box that the driver wasn’t impaired and they did no test. He probably was inpaired. So what the prosecutors will do is do a flea bargain that way they at least get some conviction.
The reason for the light sentenced is due to the poor investigation by the cops didn’t you just hear the reporter said the cops check the box that the driver was not impaired so basically what he is guilty of his speeding any lost control of his vehicle everything else is a complete accident. You do realize that if you if you are driving on the road, and you accidentally lose control of your vehicle and hit somebody in the curb, you understand that’s not a crime correct so the only crime here is that he was speeding and they had the assumption that he was impaired, but they had no proof so they offered him a plea bargain just to get at least some sort of sentence on him
A maximum of 6 years in prison and eligible for parole in 2 years! Apparently everyone here sees the problem with that except for the DA that offered that deal.
19 citations. Clearly had no respect for the motoring public. Doing whatever he wanted. And 19 citations was just when he was caught. Probably drove recklessly thousands of times.
JOE LAMBARDO!!! GET TOUGHER on these guys you are not pushing for new laws to put these multiple traffic offenders away that are a danger to everyone on the road!
How is "that judge" the problem? She sentenced him to the *MAXIMUM* that she could *under the law!* Go argue with the DA for even offering him a plea deal!
Eligible for parole in two years for murder. I guess you should not judge someone especially if you are gonna judge them wrong. And clearly the so call judge did just that. How awful . To give him after having so many violations . The minimum. JUSTICE SUCKS.
6 years with the possibility of parole in 2!?! This is an entitled individual who has been emboldened from years of illegally driving. This individual will surely do it again - for sure.
Injustice again for the victim's family. Why are people not protesting this why are people not calling the governor's office in the District Attorney's Office damn right I will
2 years? That’s a joke! He killed a man for reckless and irresponsible driving..he violated the law so many times, no drivers license, no insurance? And murder!
How can you justify a sentence of six years, and be out in two years. Once out he’ll be doing the exact same thing again. This perp should stay behind bars for the rest of his life, he’s a menace to society.
19 violations and then killed a person. Getting only 2 yrs. He is a serial offender and a thug. I have a feeling we shall be back here in 4 years after another death of an innocent person.
That judge Really REALLY come down HARD on him . Giving him a two year sentence. It is laughable that she value the cyclist life worth only 2 years. She should try working in a supermarket. She have no clue what she is doing. This is really disgusting. I hope the family put a complaint in against her.
I heard somebody get two years for being drunk walking into the wrong house and falling asleep in their couch got charged with home invasion and this guy gets 2 years for murdering an innocent person what is this world coming to 😞 my condolences go out to the family and loved ones may he rest in peace 🙏🕊️
Unlicensed, 19 tickets yet still had access to a car? Was the owner of the car? Was it paid for or still making pymnts ? Or was it owned by family/friend then why did they allow him to drive it? Same for the woman with 7 DUIs ?? When will journalists ask more ?s To better understand why/how this keeps happening
EVERYONE IN NEVADA that commits a crime ALWAYS gets to do a plea deal down to far lesser charges that result in very little time in prison sentences. I fail to understand why there are so many plea deals given in Nevada ??????????????
I understand how infuriating this is, but not everyone gets plea deals. People who have committed crimes less serious than this have received longer prison sentences. He had 19 violations prior to killing someone? Who is he related to, or who does he know to get away with all of that?
Why did he even have a car? Why is someone who doesn't have a driver's license allowed to own a car? If it wasn't his car, whoever did own the car should be charged as well for letting him drive it. If someone doesn't have a driver's license and they own a vehicle that vehicle's registration should be revoked, or it should be booted by the police.
I mean, if other criminals can get life as a habitual offender, being arrested for the same thing 3 times, hes been busted 19 times for practically all the same offenses, how does he not fall under the same ruling?
@@philpalmer4877 Yeah it is, especially if its for unpaid fines which the wealthy can easily afford. Idiocy and hyperbole, I admire your consistency champ.
Crying tears but refused to follow the rules as set down for him...Ridiculous that he wasn't in jail way before this incident. Killed an innocent person just riding their bicycle....Some people just have to learn the hard way. 15 years should have been the sentence.
6 years in prison with out being under the influence of any drug and killing someone riding a bike, wow😮 no wonder people come to Las Vegas to commit crimes and get away with it, come on 6 years if this guy was sentenced in Texas minimum years in prison would be life with out parole
For every one of him there's a hundred more on the road. You would be disgusted at the number of drivers whose licenses are not just suspended, but revoked indefinitely and they still drive with unregistered and uninsured vehicles. The number of suspended/revoked drivers for DUI is astronomical. They don't care about anyone but themselves and their selfish need to get where they're going. I once arrested a driver for DUI and he had eight prior DUI convictions on his record. I for the life of did not know why he wasn't spending life in prison. "According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the average drunk driver has driven drunk more than 80 times before their first arrest." If that doesn't tick you off, nothing will. To all you DUI drivers, save an innocent life and get a ride and get into an AA program. If you don't care about your life, at least care about someone else's. This guy should never be free in society, he's a menace on the road.
