Let me just put this out there for every comment stating "this isn't funny". You think if some content is put on by a comedian it has to be compulsorily funny? This is a podcast. It is not even intended to be humorous. It's supposed to give you a perspective of thoughts. And honestly speaking the subject matters of Daniel's podcasts are pretty fresh, like for example plagiarism in this episode. So if you want to have a good laugh go watch some stand up.

I was so glad when you pointed out Joe Rogan. He doesn't get enough credit and i love his podcasts as well, so when i saw that you have started these it got me really thrilled. Keep them coming man , people need to be educated more and you've taken a step towards enlightening people. props.

Wadiha Hasan exactly! It's good and refreshing content and conversations. Sadly people don't seem to get it because it isn't humorous which is also understandable because other podcasts out there are somewhat light and funny and sometimes just pointless. Again no disrespect to them. I'm just afraid Daniel is going to stop making these if he doesn't get enough viewership.

honestly i think the dislikes came from someone hating either a woman being in the panel or daniel's hater stalkers (i'm telling you, it could be a thing! like they like subscribe to him and they find a video, then they call their friends and they're all like, yes new video's out. dislike it!) XD

In today's day and age, stand-up comedians are probably the revolutionaries of 21st century India. To the new kraantikaaris of contemporary India- you're making a great effort on sensitising people about culture,politics, perceptions, economics and the way our world is taking a turn. Love the podcasts, Daniel. P.s: this is from a fan who watched one of your recent shows in Melbourne!!

The people who get offended by roast comedy or any form of (current) comedy whatsoever should only listen to those "haathi and chinti" waala jokes. I mean if you're so butt-hurt, there's always an option to not watch the video/show. Very good points taken up today (actually in the other 4 podcasts too). BTW Neeti and Anshu I love your comedy bits. And as usual thank you Daniel. :)

I recently had to toast a newly married friend and her husband. There was an opening line from a very good toast I just couldn't get out of my mind. There were no credits to that person so I acknowledged during the toast that I lifted that line from the internet. Plagiarism I feel bad about but it resonated. Always a conflict when that happens.

Now this Podcast was super funny... So many subtle jokes >_< ... Malcolm Gladwell wrote a wonderful article in the New Yorker about modern day plagiarism; his point was that no one own words and concepts ~ just the method with which they frame the said concept into words! @Anshu Mor, "Serious Comedy movies" lol and yes argue over disagreements rather than trolling people ~ case and point Bill Maher's show... Men and Women, both need to promote equal-ism :)

Of course answering the question about male cricketer would not have been a big deal Anshu Mor,, but that's the whole point sir. Here are these women fighting every prejudice, and proving their worth, on merit, trying to make their place and then everything boils down to but apko ladko kki team me kaun pasand hai! The point is EVERYTHING DOESN'T HAVE TO BE ABOUT MEN. Why is that such hard thing to take for you guys.? Of course she could have simply taken a name. The reason she didn't is because she chose to call it out. Try and understand what deep rooted mentality is this question coming from and what women are fighting against. We are done trying to be likeable and ignore shit because why create a scene?.
@AnshuMor
@AnshuMor 7 лет назад
smriti dawn wow. In a sense u prove my point. The usage of CAPS. This whole men are enemy kind of undertone! What are you solving by this? What will this sensationalism get anyone? What's next? So now u can't ask questions about the other sex. Is that your idea of a solution? Who's your fav actor? no talk about actresses! And u really think that's solving for sexism in any field. U know what that leads to? It leads to an end of conversation? It doesn't solve the issue. I have never denied the issue exists and I'm a very strong supporter of women's equality. But I do know that labeling every conversation , every question, every statement in the context of Sexism or feminism is not the answer. U label someone and the other person goes defensive and it's end of conversation. The issue is far more deeper. Requires education to men, guidance from parent to boys and kids very early to understand equality and equal rights. Most importantly requires an open dialogue. And I mean dialogue not finger pointing. This is not about us vs them. It's about equality. So don't make this sound like some war between sexes. You are sounding exactly like the issue itself. Anyway opposing view to what That incident represented and clearly not something which can be discussed deeply on a RU-vid comment section. I hope U enjoyed the rest of the podcast. Goodnight :)
@smriti8423
@smriti8423 7 лет назад
arre? Really? Is this what you gathered from what i said? That i am labeling men as enemies? Sir, I love men. Most of my childhood heroes are men. And i am sure so is the case with Mithali Raj.. I am trying to make you understand her choice of not simply giving a name. I am trying to make you reflect on the fact that the question, even though was harmless, was stemming out of a deep rooted flaw in our collective mentality. I absolutely agree that we cant deeply discuss it on a youtube comment thread, but do give it a thought once with a more flexible and open mind. :)

Whatever Anshu said was from a different perspective and couldn't explain it completely that why he was saying it. The shorter version put him in a kind of bad light for which you commented. He was simply discussing it with two friends with not enough time. I think Neeti explained this very well in the Podcast and Anshu understood the other perspective about which he might not have thought at a deeper level till that time. @Anshu - I think all the "caps" comments on various social media sites are because of lack of patience & time + I don't have time or energy to read your views, listen to what I am saying + cherry picking of what people want to discuss + of course it's the internet, so there is no mutual respect for a verbal discussion/dialogue.

Daniel : I have one opinion about the content thing. Since stand-up is a comparatively new space in India, probably you can keep finding newer premises for a joke, but maybe down the line premise is not going to be the main deciding factor. More of an unique style & a different take is probably what is going to matter. To give an example - one of the greatest filmmakers in the world - Wong kar Wai - keeps making movies about unrequited love. But that doesn't make his movies & Are Dil hai mushkil the same. I hope I could explain

Hi Daniel, I am really a big fan of you and I have watched all of your podcasts yet. I find it enlightening in a way and may be also because it's more in a discussion zone than those typical trying to be funny ones. I'd like to correct you on a matter where I find an irony of sort, you talk about ignorance and all those stuffs, its there and for most part I agree with you but you mentioned the kid from "Tubelight", and I'm not here to point out one mistake and say its ignorance, but isn't its important to at least get the facts right? The boy is from Arunachal Pradesh not Himachal Pradesh. And its just two states poles apart. There's nothing similar than mountains, and not every mountain people looks and talks the same. And I don't see much of a difference between you and the reporter who asked the question there, you pointed this out on the context of ignorance so here's just another one.

When neeti is saying people are not commenting how funny she is, maybe the problem is not with the audience. Simple - They are not finding you funny. So no point in Daniel saying "they will get there". I went for neeti's show, did not find it funny. You may put in lots of effort, and be sincere, but 'funny' is a tricky thing.

About the cricketer thing: i disagree with anshu bc it's not that women like to drag feminism into real life. I think a lot of people often forget that sexism has to be dealt w on a regular basis, from walking on the road, wearing the right thing, talking a certain way we've had to normalize it to some extent. Sexism has very real consequences for us, so it's not that we're dragging feminism in zabardasti, feminism is already needed. I mean im p sure she didnt enjoy having to say that, but if she hadn't she would've normalized that question. Maybe the journalist was not tryna be sexist, but we all know that somewhere such a question is rooted in misogyny. Why is it that when we talk to successful women we have to ask them shit like how are you handling work and home but the same question isn't directed to successful men? It's the same double standard, I'd say. Besides very few "feminists" pull it into everything. Most of us are just really annoyed with stuff and decide to speak up. also it's interesting to me that Anshu said she was victimising herself bc when i heard it, i felt like she was standing up for her right to not have to put up w such questions. Also, i completely second Neeti on the whole sexist pig thing. i mean while some sexist bs is not excusable, very often all of us are just so used to misogyny we fail to see it in ourselves sometimes. So we all should try to educate and understand(not excuse or justify!) before we jump to villanizing. Thanks Daniel for this lovely podcast, it's refreshing to hear you guys speaking about such stuff, you've called such interesting people. (sigh im 16 and would prefer replies to keep that in mind )

Stating the obvious ... google search (with quotes) is a good preliminary plagiarism checking tool. EDIT: Do you guys think a "content escrow" / "evidence trail" using blockchain technology would make money in the future, when everyone and their AI's are making content?

@Daniel You are picking awesome topics for the podcasts! Love the content of all of them. @Anshu Regarding what Mithali said, I think if the reporter would have asked who is your favorite "cricketer" she would have genuinely answered it. But since the reporter asked specifically "Male" she was offended. Couldn't find the full interview to see if this was one of the starting questions without discussing her achievements or match, because then it would be justified entirely.

Shruti Chauhan hi Shruti I still believe that even if the question was about male cricketers it's okay to answer. It's not that a question has been asked about an enemy. That's my point ...that sexism and feminism are deep rooted issues and need to be discussed at a deeper level and not to be made as an agenda for every conversation. That way we are alienating the two sexes and making dialogue around this topic more difficult.

Anshu Mor This world cup is a really big deal for women's cricket. As a stand alone event, it provides vital exposure as opposed to the times when it is overshadowed by a concurrent men's world cup. Mithali raj had every right to be pissed if a reporter doesn't understand that. For almost two decades she has seen her sport face neglect. For her, questions about male cricketers at a women's cricket press conference is not just superficial and symbolic issue. It is just another iteration of the ingrained patriarchy she faces everyday.

i have an opinion too! i think Anshu is right here. it was just a pointless question but i feel it was just a simple question and required a simple answer. no sexism was involved here. afterall cricketers are entertainers and they do get stupid questions sometimes because the standard of our media people is kinda like that and even other entertainers in different industries get that kind of questions and not every question requires that reaction. i think it should not be put into every conversation especially by influential people because it just creates hate and that won't solve anything. There needs to be love and compassion towards one another irrespective of what sex you belong to. because we are not here to take sides. we are victims of this problem together

Rishabh Mahendru Imagine if you are mithali raj. You are amongst the best practitioners of your sport. For 18 years you have toiled for team and nation. What do you get for your efforts? The women's team finds it difficult to get to play international matches. Compared to their make counterparts they make ridiculously measly amounts. As an objective observer I would expect the journalist, who is surely aware of context not to be insensitive. You find mithali raj indecent or rude? You better get used to it. As long as she gets treated this way, she has every right to be impatient. Expecting restraint from victims rather than oppressors is its own kind of bigotry.

Sai Krishna just as Neeti mentioned here i get from where that reaction came and i being a man can't even fathom what a woman goes through her entire life as compared to a male counterpart. i don't think she was indecent or rude because i get it and i understand and i empathise but i still doubt if this is the right way to go about this. as a journalist its their job to ask questions and yes maybe it was a stupid question and maybe the journalist was just curious. well that's what i think. specifically in this case that reaction was not required. people in the entertainment industry get all kinds of questions. can't you ask a female (any profession) who her favorite male( any profession) is anymore? are we drawing a line here? where's the equality?

I think Anshu was correct with his intention when he was talking about the victim card. However, I feel he gave a very wrong example in Mithali. Neeti, ofcourse contradicted herself initially but infact she unintentionally spoke to the truth about the issue. The example that I could've laid out in such a situation would have been of Aditi Mittal. Daniel I was very disappointed that when a comedian like you can see things through and through couldn't call the stunt that Aditi was trying to pull. In the AIB roast, clearly a lot of sexists comments came her way but everyone got away with it because quite clearly it was a roast. When Raof made that statement, he obviously must have seen that roast and felt that Aditi is chilled out. Instead she made a mountain of a mole hill. Even with the Film Companion issue. The video came out in February, and I was amongst the first few who watched it. However, the issue only arose in the month of June. Clear example of selective outrage possibly orchestrated by Aditi and her team after Netflix saw an opportunity to break into the Indian comedy scene. None of the male comedians that day I felt had demeaned Aditi in any way and she went on to say 'I saw some of the faces later on'. Kanan, opened his remark by saying 'Aditi you should be taking this'. Dont see any issue there. Tanmay even went out to say that Aditi and Neeti should've been on it. Clearly she's been playing the victim card. I appreciate Aditi because she is a fighter but her methods are shallow and she could perhaps take a cue from Radhika in conducting herself.

honestly about the female cricketer getting annoyed, i mean, the journalist could have asked who is your cricket idol. Be gender neutral, listen to her answer and i mean. i dunno. why did it HAVE to be from the indian male cricket team? And how is that feminism? she could have a totally different woman/man she looks up to and got pissed that the question was about the male cricketer from the indian cricket team.
