In this episode, I chat with Kaneez and Carl about industry contacts, politics of faith, and indiscipline in comedy. Listen to the audio version of this episode here: / you-started-it-with-da...
It was really interesting to hear from a comedian from a diffrrent country. The part where he spoke about their president was HILARIOUS. Kaneez is always a delight to watch. She really needs to be doing more shows and I'm glad she's working on it. Dan's hiting all the right spots with his podcasts.
Carl is a proper sociologist in the garb of a comic. Of course, you need to have a decent grasp of sociology to be a comic but he seems really wise and knowledgeable.
I was thinking the same! His observations, especially the ones related to religion, reminded me of my sociology courses. Carl seems like such a genuine person.
Massive respect to Daniel to bring a international artist . This just have made us usderstand that comedy all around is facing same difficulties and your struggles are real ..
This has to be the best one yet in this series. It was interesting to see how much similar the things are when we compare the good and the bad across countries. Everybody has the knowledge about a given topic but it matter how you frame it in a sentence. This was the theme of the entire episode. Loved the video. Thanks Dani!! Welcome Carl !!
I just wish Papa CJ has a good justification behind what he did because this could jeopardise the perspective towards Indian comedians as a whole. I love the direction Indian comedy is heading towards right now but I really, really hope his mistake doesn't cost our comedians. 40:00.
Danby one more feather in your cap. Kaneez you are brilliant with what you do seen almost all videos on the net. Carl bro welcome to Mumbai hope you will have pleasant memories.. Just follows Danny's advice..good luck to all. .....religiously following the channel from muscat...
Ncube is nice to say that he (PapaCJ) can realize about his mistake and bounce back from it by focussing on the craft. It was a very important statement that he said which got drowned out. Because it is not about bringing down a person but about bringing down a behavior.
Had a bad incident with Papa CJ myself. He was supposed to judge an Open mic at a college fest that I was a part of. He cancelled on the last minute and crowd went nuts and heckled every comedian in the line up.

Absolutely loved the podcast. This podcast is by far the most interesting and informative. Your all podcasts are far more interesting to listen(&watch) than any other on RU-vid. please if possible try to get the comedians from other countries more often. It is interesting to hear their stories n experiences.
Kudos on the podcasts. Love the way you arrange your panel, call people out and skirt over the line of political incorrectness...'we call it exile' ~ savage... a damper on the funeral comedy is that everyone's definition of 'tasteful comedy' is diverse...Nepotism is everywhere (history, civics, geography, research - everywhere)...Religious fanaticism was a niche market; can;t say that anymore...Rather than faith, the problem is acquired beliefs; religion, democrat-republican, blah are acquired beliefs; if people made informed decisions, the amount of malarkey we see would be significantly less...Discipline is a millennial-generation problem; especially the 20-30 genre ~take any discipline...Talent & marketing have so many unfortunate exceptions - biggest example is famous Indian celebrities...
Another interesting podcast. Good that you all load your gigs in RU-vid. My place doesn't have standup. So this is the only place I get to watch. Would definitely love to pay and watch soon.
Daniel ...I didn't know that you had come to Amsterdam!! Omg !! So true about the Dutch subtlety....I have dutch friends and they are not as loud as us. I miss the comedy club environment in India... please do come here again...We will get all our Indian and dutch friends ... And please let kaneez know that there is a really good improv club in Amsterdam as well..in case she visits.Boom Chicago.
It was good to see more of Kaneez although not enough and wonderful hearing from Carl as well alongside you Daniel. Bringing together different comics in a podcast is a great idea.
Please do some shows in Bhubaneswar na. There's a good crowd here that can give you a good response and, KIIT University and XIMB(XAVIER'S) have the best crowd one can ask for here. Please please please do some shows here .
I used to watch"TWTW". for a long period of time I thought that Kaneez is acting and this is not her real accent. 😅😉 All the best Kaneez. You are very bold. we would love to see Carl's show all over India. he sounds so funny.
I recently performed my first live stand up and now that you have talked about the indiscipline in comedy; I really feel that it was bad for me to go overtime and ask for claps in the end. Thank you for talking about this. I also wanted to ask that if I talk to audience and make fun of them or sort of roast them, does it create an image of me being an ass in the audience's head?
Comedy Factory in Ahmedabad has asked audience to stand up for pictures making it look like audience gave a standing ovation. I didn't want to stand up and felt pushed in to it. I can see the unethical practice so clearly now.
Ah left me wanting for more! This podcast and Kaneez' hilarious game show and Kunal Kamra's new show are the only things what I look forward to seeing on youtube these days. Daniel Fernandes, I really hope to see you live in India some day - meanwhile if you happen to plan a gig in in Europe (for example in Germany!!!) that would be super duper amazing!
Fantastic episode... I just loved Carl... :) and Kaneez... I and my whole family love you in TWTW... would be great if you could put up your improv work on YT (maybe I missed it). And Danny... Keep up the work... love it...
I am waiting for PapaCJ to respond to daniel, I follow both , dayum daniel you're savage lol :* . I think you should've waited for his side, but anyways let's see what comes from his side. Waiting for his reaction.
Prerana Modani Don't mean to bother you, but you should check out Kunal Kamra's new podcast. :) It's a three episode series on politics if that interests you.
hey danny, what happened to your Pravin tambe bit? it was really awesome!!! #RevivePravin #PravinFromPimpri #ContactHim p.s.I know it's really out of topic, but it really hit me about this form one f your comments in the podcast
India and all the African countries can have such a good relationship..we have so much lot in common..only if we could put an end to our fucking racism..there's so much untapped potential
Whole episode I was thinking what if the guy who claims to have locked up Satan really has locked up some poor guy in his house (like the movie Room) given his possible mental condition.
Wasn't that comic which Carl is talking about at 50:41 ending the show, so there is no comic waiting to go on after him. He does his extended set, the host comes out and closes the show. And people get 25 mins of extra content/laughs. If the audience waited around and didn't mind it then why are other comedians getting their panties in a knot here.
Not to be taken otherwise but I am a great fan of Papa CJ's comedy. But if such a thing has really happened then it is pitiful. Although I am not into stand-up comedy as a professional but I can totally relate to the fact that for each minute that you perform extra, you are actually eating into somebody else's performance which can be totally frustrating for other comics. Also the thing Carl spoke up about having limited number of laughs at a gig seems to be so true. If you are reading this Daniel, I hope you talk up to Papa CJ because I love both of you and do not like this tension brewing up between you and Papa CJ. He is really a nice person.

Never felt that leaving comments is important. But I think it helps you analyse the response. I'm feeling great to comment too, #myfirstRU-vidcomment .
