In this episode, I chat with Amit Tandon and Gurmehar Kaur about resting bitch face, State Bank of India and rape culture. Download the audio version of this episode here: / s-n1xx2
Daniel thanks for taking these things up. Thank you for having that kind of courage of repeatedly bringing up these things even when you get so much flak for it. Please don't stop.
As wonderful as the previous ones. Hope people watch this and understand the true meaning of the conversations. Thnaks for inviting these amazing people..and from my side, yes, rape culture exists in India and we men are liable for that. Thank you Daniel Fernandes.
Get Abhishek Upmanyu To the podcast .. I ve never seen him indulging in casual conversation and I feel that it would be very interesting to see him and Dany
I was with my hostel assistant once , watching news ,he said that its the girls fault because they dress dont correctly and roam around at night , I replied by warning him to never be seen on his vehicle without helmet , else I will push him off the vehicle , because "he is asking for it " . :-P It was sickening a college hostel assistant saying that , I guess colleges should vet their employees better .
Liked for someone finally saying the truth about Indian culture... women and men were both equal it's actually pretty anti-national to be shaming women for speaking up and being independent.
What a great episode. So good to see gurmehar at this platform, such a positive image for the youth. Loved the recurring joke by Daniel about the tickets sold by Amit
Lovely podcast. I simply admire Amit Tandon - more for this 'nostalgia' videos than anything else. And hearing Ms Kaur speak has been such a spark of goodness.
I love your podcasts Daniel! It is great that you bring guests who are not comedians or other celebrities. Keep up this great work which makes more sense than anything on Indian TV.
Interesting conversation, specially the last part where "Rape culture" was discussed 👍🏻. Definitely Bollywood / movies 🎥 plays a big part in shaping the society & like Gurmehar said Objectifying women with those vulgars songs just adds fuel to fire.
Thank you for bringing in Gurmehar. I supported her when she released her video and am proud of it and of her. And keep doing this podcast Danny. You rock!!! :)
the movie you are talking about is 'jaani dushman'. the whole friends circle in the group which has sonu nigam suniel shetty and akshay kumar and other two heroines are included too
speaking of Indian culture and erotica or wearing skimpy clothes, this is something I read somewhere which makes sense to me. so back when India was not conquered by foreigners, our paintings and sculptures depict the men wearing just dhotis and uparnas while the women wore a dhoti and some clothing wrapped around the chest area(something like a modern day tubetop). this clothing made sense in this hot humid climate that we have(because clothing and food were always dependent upon geography). then we were conquered by the Mughals. They propagated their ideology of burkha and clothing the women and men, so we started following that trend. Then we were conquered by British and French, they wore even more clothes than the Mughals........now we started imitating them and thought this was Indian culture. but in that process we started ignoring logic behind the actual culture and logic of dhoti and a top wrap around
@39:00 Beautifully said!!!!!!!!! I don't live in South Asia (permanently) but my parents (typical desies) are also of the same mentality... WHY, why is it OK for our brothers (boys) to be out and about and never questioned or concerned for late at nights and/or whereabouts, but the sisters (girls) should always have a curfew, if not be able to keep constant updates with her parents or folks back at home? Honestly, yeh sirf ek South Asia main problem nahi hai... But is VERY much a universal issue!!!!! THANK you so much for addressing it. Just like Gurmehar said, why are we (as girls) told or emboldened to be independant, strong, and courageous BUT at the same time, our brothers/boys are never taught or embedded in their heads to BE respectful towards ALL women regardless of age, color/skin, race, and/or culture!! Please please please, do discuss this topic again on your show and make it a means of spreading more awareness, ESPECIALLY targeting the audience as the parents of those who have sons!
The video Amit Tandon is talking about the speech given by political leader for wearing of Hijab, it was by Gamal Abdel Nasser, former president of Egypt.
Lovely podcast Daniel! I think you could possibly have a panel with an actual researcher who studies the Indian comedy scene( I'm sure TISS has people who do that) and a comic who is based out of the metro cities but is doing well. Discussing the prospects of sustainable comedic content in alternative media platforms to reach masses and generate revenue. Just a goofy episode about food bhi chalega 😝🙏
Daniel Fernandes This is the best series that exists on the Internet. Too good. Such smart conversations. Love It. Continue doing this. Thank You for Such Content
Thanks for making a video with those great people. It was really amazing. Also please consider Akshit Pithadiya's suggestion of inviting Abhishek Upmanyu to your podcast. Looking forward to it.
dont know how.. but I hadnt watched this one and the very simple talk about how the headlines are crafted after a rape, just made so much sense. I wish the journalists are noting this as well
Great video, on a pretty off-beat issues.. This is exactly what I like: sensible people commenting on sensitive issues with surgical neatness! Great job!
Thanks Gurmehar Amit And Daniel. I Really Enjoyed Listening To These Podcasts. It Gives Us A Different Perspective About The World We Live In. Like To Live In Delhi. Related To An NRI. Some Of The Issues You Talk About Is Quite Refreshing. Some Of The Things Are Not Political Its Just Common Sense. I May Have Different View On A Certain Political Issue But I Learnt A Different Perspective Or View Listening To These Podcasts. So Thanks Once Again Daniel Keep Bringing These Things. And Yes I Will Certainly Come And Watch Your Show In Jaipur Or Anywhere In Rajasthan.
OMG I learned so much from you guys and it is really great that comedian talk about this things because I think these people make fun of India and only comedian tells where to laugh at right places so Danny keep doing it buddy and and Amit tandon is very impressive yrr what taught and gurmeher I am looking for your book because you are going in a right direction all the best
Someday these podcasts will gain cult status, not necessarily for the correctness of the things said, but simply for the stuff that's being talked about here and that is a fantastic thing.
Loved it! And yes, SBI printers are (not) working last i checked xD Seriously though, loved the content this time, love that the podcasts talk about serious issues and fun things. (Goes to google the version of Ramayan where Sita killed Ravan)
USP of Amit Tandon is he doesnt make fun of Caste, Religion or even on Politics. Thats why Amit is so famous and keeps everyone happy.... When you make comedy on these, you will loose some audience...
Hey, Daniel. Just a suggestion, please try and make sure the background is filled with lights like the previous two podcasts. It just makes it more vibrant and open to the eyes. Just a suggestion. All the best. :)
Is it just me or does this episode look the best light one... I mean just look at the feel light on her hair ... no pun intended completely honest topic n talk.. but the cinematography did put more effort in lighting the floor this time
Indian education system is not the problem (It is a problem). The main problem is the intellectual prowess. India ranks really high on the curriculum scale but we are ranked 43rd out of 45 countries on the intellectual scale.... Sahi hai, most of us take a lot of offense in just about everything..... Manhandling; stop the manhandling and teach young boys and girls by example to respect each other ~ Rape rates and eve teasing rates will go down... And I sincerely wish that mainstream media actually realises their influence and restricts the eve teasing and cliched content... Indians used to respect women a lot (history) - Maitri, Gargi, Ayurvati, etc... Polyamory was encouraged and wearing a lot of clothes was something that nobody did (hot country) and female Goddesses (not mothers, wives, girlfriends of God but actual female deities)... Keep the podcasts coming :) [more frequently if possible ;) ]
Hey Daniel, Love your podcast and standups. I have a small request to make. If it's not much trouble, could you please put English subtitles for the Hindi parts so that we heathens in the South can understand too? Thanks!
Wonderful conversation! Really appreciate gurmehar alot.. Agree with many points except the mythology points. kalidasa's shakuntala is also problematic and patriarchal, not any better than British writings a great discussion 👍
