How wonderful to see young men today that are good people. How respectful they are. For young men to be so eloquent, well spoken and to not utter even one swear word is refreshing indeed. To be kind enough to release the fish properly was amazing as I'm sure many people would have just thrown it from the top of the bank and possibly injured the fish. This is the first video of yours I have watched but I will definitely be watching more. Well done lads, you will be a positive inspiration to many, I'm sure.

You can call me a Poo-See all you want, but when I see the Air Force like that, I get the chills and goosebumps. But then, I always shed tears listening to the National Anthem. It’s been that way since the day I arrived in America as I arrived the same day my town was celebrating our bicentennial parade, July 1976.

Great video! I grew up north of Phoenix. That canal is an irrigation canal. It is original canal from the Hohokam Indian tribe before the white man showed up. It’s just been cemented in. You wouldn’t no it, but just 25 years ago there were several farms in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Lots of hay, sorghum and cotton fields.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but those are Triploid White Amur. They are sterile and used for aquatic vegetation control in canals. They are illegal to take (AZGFD Rule 40) but are ok for catch and release. You can tell by the short dorsal (back) fin. Common carp have a longer dorsal fin. Both the Central Arizona Project and the Salt River Project use them in canals.

There is a bird hunting business in the west valley, let me know if you ever want to hunt his fields, I have a guide quality dog if you need one. It’s like the place you hit in the el centro area. Also couse deer and mearns quail in south AZ is some amazing and the most beautiful part of Arizona. Must have been the Fiesta Bowl Parade. Nice to see you in Phoenix. I was born and raised there, and I'm guessing you were at the Arizona Canal. Back when we were kids we were absolutely forbidden to go anywhere near the canals because of the strong currents if we were to fell in. Or so our mothers told us. I moved away from Phoenix in 2004. The city has no doubt changed since then, and I wonder if I'd even recognize it today.

It's actually against all states' and federal regulations to have open sewers anywhere, but especially in inhabited areas. A canal like this is either to handle rain runoff or to bring water to a dry location. The only thing that can happen to such a canal is fertilizer contamination from the lawns surrounding the canal. It doesn't hurt the fish directly, but it can cause an algae bloom that blocks sun light and ultimately lowers the oxygen concentration in the water. Carp is a good fish to stock in such a canal because they will eat the algae.

Welcome to Az it’s just water being transported to a place to be cleaned and more then likely eventually drinking water there’s only a few places we’re your not supposed to fish due to contamination but that’s on the west valley 90 some avenues if I’m not mistaken and that’s at the river bottom I think most of the canals are safe
