That video was dope! homie! im a huge western fan thanks for shareing. yeah i have read about western history i never heard of this it was great! and yeah back then lotta people did die young, as the medications yup cocaine and opium etc lot of that was legal back then..you know where the word shot came from?? you know a shot of liquor? at a bar back then well at times bullets were hard to come/$ by at times etc so in trade say a gun fighter would trade a bullet for a shot of liquor yup and the barteneder would do it in trade...You know as well lotta gun fighters only loaded 5 bullets instead or all six sometimes 4 if was a 5 shot pistol reason there was no safety on these firearms back then they would have the hammer sent on a empty chammber on the cylinder many got drunk and there are stoires a guy blew off his toe or more than one toe etc. jesse james used the scolfield revolver loads alot faster than just a regualr pistiol loading it from the side one bullet at a time, the scolfield the pistol bends like a double barrel shot gun you can grab a small handfull of bullets stick them in and you are locked and loaded

I think these old towns will never again grow, but will stay alive thanks to outdoorsmen like yourselves that come to hunt, fish, and explore the many ATV trails in the area. Thanks for this tour of Pioche, I've driven thru there many times on my way to Eagle Valley but learned a lot more about the towns history thanks to your tour guides. I'll make it a point to stop for lunch next time!

My father and I have been going up there in the summer for as long as I can remember. First time I ever went fishing with him was at the reservoir and even tho we didn't catch anything, it's one of my most favorite memories. He has a house up there now and is planning to move there permanently once he retires. Deadliest ghost town it may be, but it's heaven on earth to me!

You guys might want to check out the town called Eureka, Nevada. I'd lived there for several years and it's a win-win situation for any visitors that go there. Eureka, Nevada. And if you decide to go there, check out the history of the Alpine Lodge. That place has an incredible amount of history to it. Check it out when you have the time. You won't be disappointed...

Awesome video and it brings back fond memories. Back in the day I used to do historical reenacting in Tombstone, but this town is definitely rougher than Tombstone. People thought they could get rich quick by staking a claim, which is why they got a bit, shall we say, "territorial." However, the ones who actually made money during the mining days were people like Nellie Cashman, who opened restaurants and boarding houses to serve the miners. If I ever make it back to Nevada I will definitely want to check out this town.

I wish more was published about Pioche. Such a cool town!! “Billy the Kid” was rumored to “hide out” here often. He “supposedly” robbed the train going through Medena UT, which is 15-30+ miles away from White Rock. “A stones throw away; as a crow flies”. If only the rocks could speak. So much cool hidden history!
@goodoakpress
@goodoakpress 7 месяцев назад
@@christyblood7043 I researched Billy the Kid when I wrote a children's book about him in the early 2000s. We know his family moved to New Mexico from Kansas in 1873, although he did live in southeastern Arizona for a brief time after his mother's death. In fact, his first, "murder" happened near Fort Grant, Arizona, when he shot a man in self-defense. He immediately fled back to New Mexico, where he remained until he was allegedly shot by Pat Garrett, although there are people who, to this day, swear that Pat Garrett shot the wrong man in Pete Maxwell's bedroom, and that Billy lived on under an assumed name. This may explain the rumors about Billy being in Pioche. It would be consistent with the rumors at the time.

Watching this a little late. OH!!! I LIKE THIS EPISODE OF INTERESTING HISTORY. Very nice. Guns, gold/silver/ores, old towns, and some very bad people. Some good people, most likely, were shot and killed by others just for their mining ores and other things, like a dog, just unbelievable. Crazy stuff for sure. Next time you go into a place like that, shut your eyes and put yourself there...!!! THANK YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. Keep bringing the golden memories of olden times and towns. Once again, thank you.

Im a gun guru myself. If you ever get out to Claremore Oklahoma you have to check out the J.M. Davis gun museum. It has more guns, old, modern and some experimental, that I've ever seen anywhere. Over 12,000 of them. So many arrowheads and spear heads you get tired of looking at them. Really neat place to tour.

Million dollar courthouse, Overland Hotel & Saloon, etc. Angela, the bartender at the Overland told me of the hospital and I got to look in the windows and it still has the old beds and other things abandoned inside. Totally creepy. Question...how did you get permission to get into the processing plant? I saw the NO trespassing signs and just didn't go for it. Did you worry about that?
