An INSPIRING story of a young man who sets out on a 10 mile hike in the snow and cold for a job interview - and gets hired by the man who gives him a lift - who is so touched by his fortitude, old-fashioned values and pluck!
18 year old Jhaqueil Reagan set out on a 10 mile hike across Indianapolis in the cold and snow, for a job interview at a Dairy Queen.
Art Bouvier, a local restaurant owner to whom he had asked directions, saw him trudging on the side of the road, and offered him a lift.
Along the way, Jhaqueil explained that he was going to a job interview at a local Dairy Queen, that he dropped out of school to support his brothers and sisters after his mother died two years ago, and didn't have money for bus fare.
Hearing his story, and touched by his old-fashioned values and fortitude -- Art hires him for his restaurant, Papa Roux.
The story of the young man and the restaurant owner has gone viral on Facebook - and now been covered by international news!

I had to walk 9 miles 4 days a week from Marks Tey to Colchester after receiving an apprenticeship on track shovelling on the railway. I was unemployed and homeless. 5 years later I'm a engineering planner on a good in come. Employers whom see and watch those who struggle but persist and do not complain find it humbling. You learn values in life and mature much quicker, and are often called an old soul because you have had it rough. Much respect to the gentlemen and its a dying breed these days.

Much respect friend. I work at an Amazon Distribution Center and walk five and a half miles to work for four days of the week. I work ten hour shifts each day and ride the bus home. I have to trek through a bad part of town to get into the next town where it's located. I have also experienced homelessness. I had a job when I was homeless which was horrible, but I still went. I was on the streets for six months of my life, never again. I worked at a fast food restaurant for three years before working for Amazon. I am currently twenty-four and have a goal to receive my CDL next year after a full year with Amazon as they will pay for the school up to ninety-five percent. One day, I'll have my own truck, establish my own company and become self-employed. People lack drive, it's sad!

this reminds me of my first cooking job, I didn't trek 10 miles, but I've had problems keeping work longer then 6 months, I have mental disabilities that limit me, and I told straight up at the interview I have problems keeping jobs longer then 6 months, and he said, are you a person that's always on time? i said yes, never been late to work once in my life, he said your hired, then 6 months later I had to move to a different house further away, I told.my boss that I need to give my 2 week notice, he took me in to his house with his family so I can stay working for him, this was 3 years ago, and to date I still work there. there's alot of good people in this world, and the thing about having mental disabilities, and being slow at work, he told me first day of work take your time, don't worry about how slow you are, just do it right, and never messed up once, I was promoted to sous chef 1 month ago, and I still live with my boss, I've gone to help this company open new restaraunts all over north America, and a couple in europe, all expenses paid

Midwestern work ethic for ya. Growing up in South Dakota, I saw a lot of people who unfortunately didn't get a "normal" childhood. Days that I doubt a majority of kids now these days could handle. Tama To a +++ This is how Americans were growing up in the 50's and 60's. The 3 H's- Honesty, Hard work and Honor. It is what my parents, aunts and uncles taught me. This is why companies in Texas and elsewhere are hiring people in their 60's, 70's and even 80's to work their jobs. They may be slower, but they are honest and usually show up on time. They also can make change for a dollar in their heads without a pencil and paper or a calculator.

+Michael koen my grandfather dropped out of highschool to join the korean war, and then came back joined a union and became a very good electrician. he then traveled all over the states doing jobs that others turned down and his union picked up, only to get mesothelioma latter in life, and he STILL was able to get around and do what was needed. he even built most of his own shop (i helped a bit so did my dad) and refused to just lay down and wither away, like the doctors wanted him to in his final days. He died while walking to tell my grandma something in the living room a couple days after refusing to be put back in the hospital. He was an electrician up until his late 50s when he had a heart attack and he started when he was 18. Men like yall are so hard to come by these days and it saddens me..... Btw they never did give the Korean vets the money they promised and left them to fend for themselves. And my grandpa was actually given an honorary High School diploma a few years before he died.

God will make a way? Then why does god not do something about priest raping abusing and molesting children, this god you praise just sits back and lets it happen. Are all the molested children just part of this gods devine master plan? If this god you worship is real, then it is no more than an immoral dictator not worthy of worship. This young mans determination was all his own, god had nothing to do with it. Lets not forget that this so called god took his mother, and left him and his siblings alone to fend for themselves, some god. Faith is a realm of ignorance, there is no truth or wisdom to be found in such a place only ignorance. The path to truth is littered with the bodies of the ignorant and the path to atheist is littered with bibles. Free yourself from the fear of god for this fear only exists within the realm of ignorance.
