Hahaha yeah. I used to do a bit of skimboarding and you certainly get a bashing! I ached so much the day after my first session, and then I ended up tearing my hamstring a few days later running in. Quite enjoyed it though, weirdly.
My father grew up in Santa Cruz. He and his brothers used a flat piece of plywood that they found on the beach. Years later we made our own. Now you have these awesome guys. It's amazing how things progress.
Used to go there in the 70's . One thing that happened more than we wanted was someone breaking their neck and going to Hoag Hospital . Wouldn't surprise me if some of those surfers , body surfers , body boarders that broke their necks watch these videos ,because you never really loose that feeling for catching a wave . I'm too old to surf anymore , but God I love watching these videos of the Wedge ! Keep surfing guys and gals !
Yeah, sometimes those waves literally pull all of the water out from under you and there is nothing but sand....I really am surprised there aren't a LOT more spinal injuries at the Wedge.
I live near and this was the spot I went to as a teenager when I started testing myself. This shit breaks even harder than it looks. I’ve dislocated my elbow, then popped it back into place on my next fall.
Over the falls in ankle deep waters has long been the attraction of The Wedge. What I want is a loop of 10:00 - 10:04; thank you very much! Great video btw~
Grew up there, not a game for sure. Could not begin to count the number of people I have seen taken out in an ambulance. These guys have the skills for sure🤙🏻
Imagine falling in those massive waves and getting tumbled around under water AND you can’t even reach lol I’m a strong swimmer but it still makes me a little scared sometimes..
@@thisismov Hey ...try this for Salmon.. BBQ is less fishy than Broiled but works both ways...Get some nice steaks not fillets.. Whip REAL BUTTER two TBL spoons parsley one TBL spoon basil....mix together...spread on fish.both sides. .oil down grill .( Have water spray bottle handy because the melting butter flares up) drizzle honey top of steaks right after you place on grill and right after you flip steaks. ..cook till steaks become firm and start to pull away from the bone.... awesome with scalloped potatoes and asparagus rice medley! And some cold ones .. ✌️....and thanks again for that shot at 1:07....👍 Had that happen to me at Seal Beach 15 footers body surfing but a back wash dislodged me from the wave on my way down and this huge lip broke on the backs of both my legs ( going over I just went limp so no road rash) and it cramped my heels against my ass and spit me up on shore like a gimp! The life guard ran down and grabbed both my arms and pulled me out of harms way. .. the waves were hitting the bottom of the Pier! On my way our the lifeguard asks me ...you Kno what your doing....That was the first wave I caught. ..

Hi guys, could someone answer this question for me please...I'm not a surfer so I don't know, how do they avoid collision with people in the water? From here it looks like they're about to hit someone else with their board. Is that common?
Adding a skimboard to the mix changes everything in regard to " making" these waves. Wonder when it was first done. We used to go to Aliso beach and watch guys try to kill themselves.
That was cool but what an ass whoopin. Great riding but some of that had to hurt. Way to enjoy life. Only so much fun you can have sitting on the side lines. Beats the crap out of being on an iPhone all day 👍
