USC Dornsife Center for the Political Future (CPF) presents the annual Young Women's Leadership Conference (YWLC), which brings high school girls throughout the Los Angeles area to USC to hone their leadership skills and encourage their involvement in public service. Held during Women's History Month on March 23, young women from all over Los Angeles participated in skills-building workshops and discussions, met and heard from influential women, and learned valuable communication and relationship-building skills.
This year's conference featured a panel discussion with inspiring women leaders in community involvement and nonprofit areas. They shared their career journeys, professional advice, and tips and resources for civic engagement.
Featuring:
- Jeanine Nicholson: Chief, San Francisco Fire Department
- Mindy Romero: Director, USC Center for Inclusive Democracy
- Erin Ross: CEO, Girls Inc. of Los Angeles
- Laney Nicholson (Moderator): USC Senior
- Maria Manjarrez (Welcome Remarks): Young Women’s Leadership Conference Alumna; Policy Associate, Airbnb
This event was in partnership with VoteSC, USC Women in Politics (WIP), USC Political Student Assembly, Trojan Democrats, USC College Republicans, and The Moderator. Thank you to all the participants, speakers, and USC volunteers who joined us!
The annual Young Women's Leadership Conference has helped hundreds of young women become more civically engaged. Many program participants have gone on to work in government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and the offices of local, state, and federal elected officials.
Thank you to our donors, especially principal funder Kelly Corley, for making this experience possible for so many deserving young women.
