@@Fr3nchFrise Yeah, and especially for a defunded police force it would be easier for them to just pay off officials but at the same time these guys either work for people who have more than what the precinct has (Voll) or work for stooges that *really* rely on those kinds of people (Mindjot and Brixley). It's either help the evil conspiracy or face prison time for doing your job, and considering the LSPD can only afford to deploy 5 SWAT officers at a time, its not much of a stretch to believe they could get away with it once the entry team is dead. Hell, with all the maps that use private security I don't think there even is a proper police perimeter.

To be fair, that equipment doesn’t cost much to maintain and I presume they bought it in their prime

personally i think it'd be from the bottom going up. so you'd go from taking down Brixley, getting evidence from his operation as to the scale of what he's doing, who he's supplying, and who he's using to secretly store his stuff. and then you'd go for Voll since chances are Brixley would keep information as to who his regular clients are. and then you'd go for Mindjot since their servers are being used to host the criminal information relating to the CP ring that is run by Brixley. this seems like a natural way to escalate the scale, especially since the LSPD wouldn't really have any plausible reason to go after Mindjot without discovering the criminal activities they're tied to. Plus taking out Voll and Brixley would give no way out for Mindjot, since they can't use either of them for a fallback when they become exposed. leaving the nearly bankrupt corporation entirely vulnerable to a SWAT raid.

coming here post update, they even updated the mission briefing for this! one of the cops will ask something along the lines of "is this in relation to the streamer we swatted last week?" and they confirm that we're going after Mindjot thanks to metadata traced from the streamer's CP stash.

They then also proceeded to add a fuckton of homies to the map, what a waste.

Remember the analyst talking about Eve in A Lethal Obsession. The analyst found out about something he should not, and it broke him. Eve wasn't his wife, it was one of the victims. He put all of the clues together, knew he couldn't do anything about it, and so created the situation where D Platoon would be let loose on them. There are clues and implications that he is involved in virtually all of the missions in game. That guy was a broken anti-hero. Vol, Mindjolt, The Vets, the port raid, neon tomb... all of them were a result of him.
