Can you do a video when Nelly furtado releases her new album in September and a video on Gwen Stefani’s last album this is what the truth feels like because apparently most people say it’s a flop but I don’t see why it’s a flop
“Quantity over quality” is one of the main mantras that’s hurt Drake, IMO. When you’re hyper focused on staying “hot” and you don’t give people an opportunity to miss you, the public becomes fatigued. And any misstep or poor artistic choice gets scrutinized and magnified by 1000.
@@CamrynSuzanneexactly! And when mainstream artists drop music excessively, sometimes it gives off a lack of artistic integrity. Prince was an exception to this, but most musicians of today lack that level of skill and vision.
Very true. Tyla is a good example of that happening right now, it would make sense in our minds to keep working harder once you get a buzz but for some reason the American market doesn't respond well to that strategy. It makes the audience feel like somebody is being pushed on us. Also today celebrities are so accessible today it's hard to miss them
Especially with Taylor! Love her but her most recent projects, though it is charting and that supposedly breeds success, artistically it's not the best🥲! She also lacks in understanding quality control frfr, hence it feels like a brain overload whenever she drops.@@CamrynSuzanne
Male artists are too scared of looking “sus” and it really holds them back. Do you think David Bowie gave af about looking sus? NO. He didn’t become a legend by adhering to redpill podcast bro standards.
That’s interesting you mention that considering he didn’t become HUGE in the USA until he ditched the Ziggy Stardust persona and went to a funk/new wave sound. He had a cult following prior to it but he hit #1 way after the androgynous era.
You can be a boundary-pushing male artist without looking sus. Many male artists are lazy when it comes to their performance at least, especially the rappers.
I've seen how Shawn mendes and harry styles were dragged through the mud when they did or acted in a way that was even remotely feminine. And how Shawn mendes was and still is to this day consistently being questioned about his sexuality, which is none of anyones business. I feel as if society isn't as lgbtq progressive as we like to think and that's why there's still that fear. Like how Sam Smith was more popular or well-liked when he was less flamboyant and less expressive of his sexuality and femininity. The same thing applies to lil nas although he is pretty popular I think people still have a tendency to write him off as another gay artist and use that to absolve him of any credit for his creativity.
ABSOLUTELY and its so frustrating me bc everyone was BEGGING them to split and I never wanted that, I loved not just ungodly hour (which I listen to STILL years later often) but their album b4 that the kids are alright was great as well. So soothing and soulful
Wait they broke up??? I thought they would continue to still make music. Ugh. Why is it always the good ones. Ungodly Hour was a one of its kind masterpiece. I agree they should made at least two more albums before going solo. Hopefully they reunite and make another album together.
As controversial Doja cat can get, I personally believe Doja cat at this time is a very good performer out there. Coachella was one of Doja cats best performances and as well as her VMAs performance. She always has her mic on for singing and rapping, always dancing to choreography, and always puts so much work into her music videos or her live performances.
@@BroJo676 That's not what I meant though. A lot of celebrities are uneducated or end up expressing beliefs that alienate their audience. And some artists don't care about political issues. That's fine too
@@caoyuann i personally think they shouldn’t be political. i feel like it’s for their own good. because whether we like it or not, in today’s society there’s only one “correct” side to be on. the minute an artist believes in something people don’t want to hear, they are cancelled for it haha.
On the topic of Adele, I think she’s always claimed to be a singer, not a vocalist. She says for her music, the emotion and feeling is more important than technique!
there’s male rappers that still give u guys raw performances: Kendrick, Tyler, Pusha-T, Childish Gambino, Asap Rocky, etc the industry just don’t push Hip-Hop Male ARTISTS, instead they feed us fast food street club rap music
Ariana grande is a beast in her own right whether some people see it or not.....then again only a musical artist can understand another People nowadays we so obsessed with perfection and multitasking.. We tend to devalue things that deserve all the hype....like Ariana's voice for instant girl is a pro.....whether you like her sound or not ....
I so completely agree on your perspective on men in pop. The reception of Sam Smith was insane and no one seemed aware of their own homophobia, fat phobia and misogyny toward Sam for how they leaned into their femininity. We want men to “not do the bare minimum” and show up with something interesting, but then when they are actually experimental it gets SHUT down.
@@zeefaaldown3231 him mimicking people as urinals and piss play is what caused people to turn off of him. Why does every experiment have to be so sexual with base kinky stuff. Some things are just disgusting. The people who praised these things and hit the like button on social media are not consistent buyers or supporters. They are there for hype not true fans. He turned off his true fans. Just like Chloe. These hyper sexual artists get the audience they deserve.
@@zeefaaldown3231 I would agree if he didn’t downplay women’s issues within the music industry. His now aesthetic is from black lgbt people and he does not credit them at all.
For the second one - it is not only for black artists being discriminated, but also any artist outside of the USA. All Asian acts, Shakira, etc. Examples of discrimination
i personally liked him before his new era. i feel like he was at his absolute peak. but that doesn’t excuse all the negativity he gets! (even though he kinda scares me sometimes 😭)
For my unpopular opinion, we need to shift the industry plant conversation to the colorism conversation. We need to talk about colorism in terms of finances and marketing. For the 2020s, all of the artists that are being labeled industry plants are biracial, white, white-passing, or multiracial. Fans are attempting to debunk industry plant claims by referencing years in the industry or album numbers. There are dark skin Black women that have never gotten the push of alleged industry plants. Ledisi, Kelly Rowland, Sevyn Streeter, Tank and the Bangers, and more have been in the industry for over a decade. They have never gotten a Tyla or Ice Spice push. I have never seen this push to darker-skinned Asian or Latinx artists. If you consistently get on award shows, Spotify playlists, Met gala invites, etc., you are getting better brand deals. These finances impact your art, and your ability to release an album and tour. There are claims that Spotify has relationships with these artists. Spotify radios and playlists are manipulated to play their music throughout the playlist regardless of genre. This helps them get in the top 10 of the billboard charts. I believe that this method is a legal stream farm. We need to give unambiguous artists the artist development of the alleged industry plants.
@@Liam-xf5tv Colorism cannot be negated by two examples. Colorism impacts your job opportunities, healthcare, marriage options, and basic needs to improve your quality of life. This is backed by research and peer-reviewed articles. We cannot negate the obvious colorism issues in entertainment because of two artists. Sexy Redd is struggling to sell out her tour. Lil Nas X is not getting a release date on his next album and must release music via SoundCloud. The other alleged industry plants have plagiarism claims, paylola claims, stealing aesthetics, and shaky performances. Despite these allegations, they get tours, album releases with marketing, brand deals, and top billboard hits. This results in Grammy nominations and wins, more money, fame, and access to top songwriters and producers. They continue to be the "top" artists. We need to be more serious when we talk about colorism.
@@Liam-xf5tvAlso id say Sexy Red is authentic and didn’t blow up overnight. I also don’t see industry plants out here talking about their ties to gangs with specific locations put out there. Lil Nas X would be a bad example because I feel like he was way too controversial and fell off quickly with the general public after he came out about his sexuality.
You’re not even going to let the words “Ariana is not a vocalist” be heard coming out of your mouth 😂😂😂 i feel you, Camryn. This person had to be trolling because, what!? 😂
@@Flamingheartofstone she's definitely a vocalist but is she a good one? Idk i wouldn't say so simply because she sings without properly pronouncing the words + the use of her unnatural voice like Britney Spears(Ariana has a deeper tone in her voice) And when I said not a good vocalist, I mean she shouldn't be in a comparison to Mariah Carey. I even saw an article saying she's one of this generation's vocal trinity
Ariana Grande, the woman praised by the likes of Mariah Carey and Aretha Franklin, is absolutely a vocalist. I think the fact that she doesn’t really show off her voice in her music anymore (Eternal Sunshine being the least vocally challenging album in her discography) is making people forget who she is. Her singing opera in Wicked should remind them 😭.
I agree on the overutilization of sexual rap bars when it comes to female rappers. If they want to rap about it that's fine. But at least get creative. I listened to cupcakKes new album and i actually had a great time and really enjoyed it. She raps mostly about s3x but the thing with cupcakKe is that she gets extremely creative with the lyrics to the point where she makes it sound funny. Idk how to explain it. Megan Thee Stallion on the other hand, when she raps about s3x it feels so redundant, almost like a dejá vu. I was very disappointed with some of her songs on her new album. Especially "Moody Girl".
As a Megan fan girl, I lowkey agree. I loved Moody Girl, Cobra and Hiss because I felt like they were her most vulnerable and different in topic. Traumazine is an interesting album for her in that way. But her other songs on the album just felt like something I could have heard before. I love an ass shaking anthem but they become slightly repetitive and kind of go in circles in theme and topic. Which can be fine but I would have absolutely adored a slightly more introspective album from her which I was hoping for. I love her creativity and exploration of her experience in the industry in HISS and I think it would have been so interesting and entertaining to have more of that, which Rattle sort of was. But I will still be turned in to her and her future work. 😌
@@SideEyeee_ That’s true, I love both of their more emotional music but people tend to completely ignore it and then criticize Megan and Cardi for only making music about sex because they weren’t paying attention.
The issue with Chlöe is that people would rather tell her who she should be instead of letting her be herself. People who actually know her irl have said that she has layers. She's a nerd, yet sexy, smart, sweet, a bit too open hearted, and an extremely hard worker. But haters only want to believe their HATEFUL narrative about her. Chlöe's a future legend so eventually more people will respect her artistry!
Yeah it hurts that with being a solo artist and being in the industry, it seems like they want you stick with one lane. It’s not right but I think it is effecting how audiences perceive her
Chloe Is amazing performer. I just feel like people don’t connect with her music. People say they are a Chloe fan but only know have mercy. People are not really listening to her music and just watching her shake ass. When her music is really good. Listen to body do that’s an amazing and should be on the charts
I have an unpopular opinion. In the old “diverse” girl groups like 5Harmony and Little Mix, the black women in those groups were tokenized. They didn’t have much of a solid fan base when they were in their groups. So when the groups broke up and most went solo, some were pushed more than others.
leigh ann talked about this!!! she once mentioned brazilian crowds being the first ones to make her feel seen, because she would normally be overlooked being the only black girl in the group
when it comes to “fan behavior” i think women are scrutinized in a way men never will be. all we do is buy merch, go to concerts etc… men do the same exact things for their favorite sports teams (except they often get violent because of them) with none of the criticism
I disagree-I feel like a lot of women feel more comfortable with being creepy towards some male performers and they get away with it because they are women. Like for example with K-pop, etc I’ve seen women write fanfiction. Not saying men haven’t done this as well but I think it’s more acceptable for women to do it compared to our male counterparts.
☁️ Another fire vid! I think the issue with female rap nowadays is not necessarily that hypersexuality exists. The lack of balance is the problem. I’m a baby Millennial, and when I was a kid, Lil Kim was poppin’, but so was Missy Elliot and Eve. Nowadays, we just keep getting more of the same, and it’s exhausting.
Thanks for making it to the end✨ Yeah the lack of balance makes everything seem so oversaturated because again there isn't anything wrong in my opinion with hypersexuality existing in rap and women rapping about it, it just has become a bit overwhelming because it's almost every mainstream rapper
Also, it’s prob not an unpopular opinion, but I’m so exhausted with an artist being compared to Michael Jackson. I struggle to understand how people do not grasp the impact that he’s had (and still has) on music, on politics, on PEOPLE, etc. To have that huge of an impact on a world pre-social media is insane. If Michael Jackson ran for president, the entire world would’ve voted for him. Even with his flaws, he should remain in his own category when it comes to music. I’m super passionate about him 😂
Right because people who weren’t around don’t know. You had people in the smallest village in Eastern Europe, remote places in South America, etc. KNEW Michael Jackson. All levels of classes, races etc. He integrated MTV ffs. No one will ever do it like him.
I agree with you with my whole heart, I made a comment concerning MJ also, how there are never going to be another one like him, I am so happy I got to witness MJ because I remember that time, he was liked by everyone , and he connected people from all ages and races also, he was loved by everyone in the whole world everywhere, it was crazy, in a most exciting way!
You guys. I finally listened Normani's album and.... people are DEFINITELY just being mean to her, I give that album 10/10 across the board it was a very solid cohesive album!
I actually reacted to it on my Patreon and I enjoyed it, I haven’t replayed it as much as I expected to however. But I just think people created really high expectations
@@CamrynSuzanne I agree, I think she should've been quiet about an album until it was time to actually release. She Could've just given us cute bops here and there throughout the years and just kept the conversation about that. But talking about an album for YEARS. Definitely set expectations high.
@@RamboQuellz Yeah, it was definitely a good album and a solid debut that really showed how strong of of a songwriter normani is. It was picked apart a bit too much
so in this group i’m the minority but i just thought the production was poor for the first part of the album…and that (emphasis on some, one song in particular idr the name) the lyrics are very corny. i’m not gna go back and forth with anybody cause it’s just how i felt about it, but i liked 2 or 3 songs
I disagree with the statement where if you don’t dance then it not worth your money. My thing is you either gotta be singing extremely well live hitting them studio notes or amazing improvisations like a Jazmine Sullivan or be able to perform like a Beyonce or Britney for my money to be worth live. You don’t gotta dance your performance just gotta give excellence and not something I could’ve stayed home to experience.
Willow smith gives me heavy 2020s vibes! beats in different time signatures yet cohesive, complex yet easy to listen to…. I just feel like she’s in 1st place rn 😭😭
ngl I see potential for addison rae, especially with charli xcx becoming more mainstream (who addison already aligned herself with and who has a similar sound to what she wants imo). depending on where addison wants to take her career, if she plays her cards right i think she could do really well but we’ll see
Im so sick of everyone trying to give Micheal Jackson title away instead of other artist! I dont know if people are just mad that a black guy with an afro will forever be the biggest artist in the world or what. 🤷🏽♀️Yall never try to snatch Elvis title away, even though he was a culture vulture. No one ever gets compared to the Beatles or Queen, Aretha, Stevie. Why is it always Micheal?! And stop comparing other artist to him. His legacy and impact cant be replicated!🙄
MJ was the biggest of ALL of them and he literally sold more than 1 BILLION records worldwide. The Beatles weren’t that great and Aretha and Stevie are too unique in the sense that nobody sings like Aretha especially in this generation and Stevie is a PROLIFIC songwriter and producer while being BLIND. MJ was all of that too but his success was the biggest of all time.
I think 2020s doesn't really have a unified sound anymore. Personally I listen to a lot of alternative guitar ballads, which is very different from say hyperpop, but both are sort of trending at the moment along with many other genres. I think taste now is more personalised rather than unified thanks to streaming services and that's what makes it hard to define a sound for 2020s.
unpopular opinion but i feel like teezo touchdown is an example of how tyler would’ve blown up if he started making music now because being different is more popular but on the other side tyler opened up these doors for so many new artists
I’m curious when we will get our next big male pop star, a kin to Michael Jackson. Talented vocalist, dancer, performer. He truly was the last male pop star to have a fan base that was comprised of men and women pretty equally. At his height he had such an androgynous look..a feminine face and long hair, bright or glitter outfits but were still masculine due to the styling. Obviously Michael Jackson had “it”, so much so that I can’t even describe what that was. Maybe it can’t actually be replicated.
I agree heavy on the female rappers rapping about the v's too much. Meg missed an opportunity unity to even humanize herself on the Cobra drop by identifying as her body part rather than as herself while trying to convey her humanity. Misogyny with a skirt on is still misogyny. IMHO Side Note: I am realizing how many people dont REALLY listen to Kendrick.
I thought of it as a play on how sexualized her image is. She talks in the song about how alone she feels in her depression and how nobody knows or cares about how she really feels. It comes across as intentionally jarring and extreme to make a point. That's just my personal interpretation at least
imo Sam smith's transformation felt like a bit try hard since we didn't get a "transitional period" from them. The closest we ever get to a transition era was their collab with Calvin Harris for No Promises but it wasn't as avant garde or gaudy.
The one about pop moving forward didn’t really use the best examples but I agree with them😭 Like I love Megan but sis is not pushing boundaries or really blending genres in Rap or Pop😭 Sweetest Pie is the only song that I think she executed it well. I think artists like Doja, Sza, Teezo, Beyonce, Nicki, Janelle Monae, & Raye are really or have been blending the genres together in innovative ways that are also executed well.
I feel like the "separating artist from the art" should be centered around artistic legacy rather immediate consumption. Like, for someone like R.Kelly, it 100% makes sense to boycott his music so as to not give him more money and power. However, trying to rewrite history and pretend that he wasnt a brillant artist that pretty much defined RnB as we knew it would be asinine. People need to get comfortable admitting that they chose not to consume art that is actually of great quality. And IMO, it only makes that decision all the more significant.
FACTS! with this topic I adopt the mantra of "know better, do better" - because honestly - we mostly have ZERO idea what kind of people we listen to are, what you listen, watch, consume are made by some of the most vile humans on earth and also some of the best - but I'm not raven baxter to know it - however when I do - I act on it. My choice of not listening to R.Kelly had nothing to do with the money side - its more morals. I just can't bare listening to music that a pedophile made because music carries energy and spirits and I don't want to expose my ears to that perversion. Does that mean he isn't a pioneer in RnB? Of course not he's one of the best to ever do it, some of the greatest artists of our time in all mediums have been very very shitty people. It's down to the consumer to make that choice. It's a complicated topic.
21:41 the weeknds after hours & duas future nostalgia were defining the 2020s, and we can see it with records like rennaissance & sabrinas new sound where they have that disco influence, but trends are so fast in general now days so why wouldn’t it apply to music? the difference is the 2010s were all cohesive, when u think abt it, ever year in the 2010 had an individual trend such as 2014 with loud horny music, or 2017-18 with whatever tf that was(look at the songs that year and youll see what i mean😭) but they all feel cohesive. see this happening with the 2020s to🤷♂️
Trends in music I think: I think music is trying to get louder and faster. I think the music is trying to get happier and more care free. I think the competition is getting a little hotter. I think rap is going to forego a transformation… maybe in popularity maybe in style…. the men aren’t talking about anything and they are NOT performing… and like you said the women’s liberation as sex in rap thing i think is starting to tire the rap audience. Kendrick Lamar just assassinated drake with pure artistry … so what will the rest of rap do since Drake just got called out for making oversaturated underwhelming music
About the soul thing. IMO I feel like Chloe, Halle, are two women that reallyyy have soul in their voices, while SZA, Normani, Coco Jones (even though love her) are all lacking soul in their voice. Their voices sound too thin if that makes sense, but I love thicker voices like artists like Jennifer Hudson or Kelly Rowland. That's genuine soul right there. So I kinda under what that person was talking about
I feel male artists just don’t take any risks. Everybody’s just too cool for school. I do feel like in 2024 u kinda have to keep the content going. On all levels of consumption. You take a break, ppl will forget.
can you do a video of grammys snubs? I know you are done with the grammys, and the video doesnt HAVE to talk about how bad the grammys are but about artists/songs/albums that deserve to be rewarded.
About music quality and the algorithm I would much rather make something I put my whole heart into and less than 50 people see it in its lifetime rather than make something purely for the algorithm for attention and money Also I heard a generic pop song that blatantly samples time to pretend by mgmt in a marshalls yesterday and that made me reflect on how much lazy sampling has become a part of music nowadays (lots of songs use sampling in a unique and new way, for example daft punk) This video is also making me check out normani, as someone who listens primarily to post rock and electronic music, I definitely need to branch out on what music I listen to
Yes, I love that thought process...quality is important and can have lasting impact. Numbers have our minds so skewed that you want to amass as many people as possible. But, if your work touches a few and it's meaningful, good qualtity etc, it's worth putting into the world and being proud of it!
Not me actually drying my hands while I was washing the dishes after the Addison Rae opinion just to write this 🤭💀 but I agree so much with the point that hair music is great BUT I also agree with the fact that it is generic, basic and not deep. Does it stand out? No. Does it add anything to the pop genre? YES. SHE IS GIVING US NOTHING AND THATS WHAT I LIKE!!!!! I miss those days where pop songs were about very basic topics that dont make you wanne think that much. Remember that video you made about Pop Girlies not having fun, trying too hard, being too complicated with their craft and taking their music too serious for what it is? I GOT TIREDDD OF GIRLIES MAKING POP COMPLICATED LIKE I JUST WANNE SHAKE MY COOCH AND LET MY HAIR LOOSE and thats exactly was Addison brought hahahaha! 😂 oki lemme watch the rest while I clean these dishes
YES EXACTLY like her ep is so quintessential pop that im actually so obsessed (pun somewhat intended) w it like why does it couldve been u have me moving lowk… and dont get me started on the charli remix, she is the perfect “basic girl” that tbh ive kinda been missing. like i could genuinely see her getting radio play if ppl took her more seriously like i feel like shes actually TRYING
Lmaoo coming through with the comment!! I understand the giving us nothing thing because trust, I am cool with a meaningless bop, I just think there are other pop artists now that'd I'd spend more of my energy propping up or pushing forward
@@CamrynSuzanne Valid!!! Addison was PUSHED to me and I just ATE ALL THE NOTHINGNESS, you also ATE UPPP the conversation about black artists or artists of color needing to prove themselves 100000x more like let's not forget ELVIS is a WHITE knock off of Roy Hamilton, a BLACK ICON...
Unpopular opinion (I think) - I’m really tired of people pretending like Fifth Harmony wasn’t a diverse girl group. Obviously Normani is black, but Dinah Jane is a Pacific Islander, and it’s been obvious for ages that she’s not white. The same goes for Ally Brooke, a brown-skinned woman who is native american. (More specifically, mestiza.) She is not just ‘latina,’ she’s a native american whose family is indigineous to America. Camila is trippy, because she is white passing, but she’s still not white. Her father is native american/mestizo, while her mother is a white latina. Lauren Jauregui is the only white member in Fifth Harmony, and I’m tired of people ignoring that, because I’ve seen the amount of racist attacks that Ally and Dinah have received from racists who deny them of their heritage.
☁️ there’s definitely a sound to the 20s i think its starting to take shape around country and electronics as almost a new wave americana. theres this urge to dance mixed in with a “return to ideals”.
For Ariana, I love Eternal Sunshine and it’s her best album by far. However I feel like despite how great she sounds, she doesn’t have that ENERGY she has in songs like Succesful, NASA, One Last Time, etc.
Speaking of Milli Vanilli, I think Fab and Rob deserve their Grammy back or some sort of grand acknowledgement from the industry after the excessive backlash they received when they were being exploited by Frank Farian and not allowed to sing their songs. And Fab has proven that he can sing those songs better than the recorded track.
So I get off work, kick back, turn this video on and chill with noooo expectations when suddenly I see myself on the screen I sat up so fast LMAO! Thanks for the mini shoutout, I loved your bit about fans wanting more from Normani in a personal sense and agree that she’s definitely got to show up for us as much as we show up for her!! ☁️✨
I disagree. Black people are NATURALLY gifted. From birth. Even mixed people get their juice, from their blackness. It's not about "being kicked out of spaces so we had to be excellent"..... we are excellent in ANY space. That is a fact & will forever BE a fact. It's why we're so influential, copied & envied. And I'm sure you know this already, so idk why you said that. That's the only part you said that needed correcting. STRONG correcting.
10:12 You all may have known about this already, but N'Sync and the Backstreet Boys were modeled after New Edition/Boys II Men. On top of that, the sound they had was not that unique(listen to Happy Song - Blackstreet). Taking it a step further, Black artists like Janet Jackson is the Blueprint of Kpop. Executives were watching her to mimic. Doesn't Really Matter sounds like it was sang by a girl group.
Yes! Thank you for adding this. This is exactly why it is an issue because these black artists hardly ever get the true credit they deserve despite pioneering images & sounds
You hit the nail on the head with men and music. I can't for the life of me on my own page, understand what's best. If I go too sensitive, it's too weak/feminine. If I go too hard, it's "trying too hard", or not innovative. To be fair, no one has said these words to me. However, it is an implied observation, especially when I compare which of my pieces perform better, or when I seek feedback from people around me. On the one hand, some people, especially black people kind of feel the need to express that people may expect a deeper voice, etc. It's frustrating, cause I feel like I've made a song to cater to everyone, but have had to learn the hard way, after getting exhausted, that you literally can't please every taste, and will never build your particular base if one keeps trying to cater to everyone at once. Edit, I always comment before the end so I don't forget, but here's the cloud 😶🌫️💭💨
Hey Camryn! Was wondering if you could do full video on Stan Culture and how it's affected music or if you had any plans on doing such a video? I feel like in this modern era it's important that we do bring awareness about stan culture and about how toxic it can be for both the artist and consumer via parasocial relationships and how it makes them easy to take advantage of for capitalism purposes! Also I did watch the full video I'm just not commenting the clown emoji lol
@CamrynSuzanne it is extremely relevant without a doubt it's getting out of control! Another thing about Stan culture that I hope you mention in your video is blocking any type of criticism for the artist no matter what they've done or the fact that you can't have an open honest conversation about an artist like say Beyonce or Cardi B without their fans getting butthurt and it makes music extremely hostile and nit fun anymore which is the point of music in the first place to be fun and enjoyable! I'd like to be able to discuss my honest opinion about an artists new album or song without getting harassed by their stans! Also another point I wanna mention is the need to hate on anything an artist does just because they've had a falling out with your fave or have worked with someone your fave doesn't like! The biggest example I can think of for this is with the Barbs and how they harass or start hating on any artist that works with Cardi or Megan Thee Stallion its so sad because Normani hasn't said or done anything to Nicki for the barbs to hate on her for no reason! It's so sad unfortunate because Normani doesn't bother anybody and does not deserve the hate! Like all this is a headache oh and the last thing I'll mention is how fanbases will hype up an artist and their music just because they're cool with their fave the best example being with how the barbs have blindly supported Sexxy Redd and Ice Spice just because they're cool with Nicki! It's so weird to me lol
With 7:00 about black artists I would point out something although idk if it’s totally related. Doja cat got a lot of hate and scrutiny recently for her new change in music and criticism of fame and fan culture and yet other artists (particularly white artists) are copying her style in Hot Pink. Maybe not related to the music specifically but I think we can put some respect on the name since everyone is drooling over Say So’s sound so much 😬
☁ I love your reviews, you are the most concise, authentic reviewer that provides such a great birds eye view of the media and the current stat of the music industry.. Don't stop doing what your doing, if anything keep going and evolving this.
to say Ariana Grande is not a vocalist is definitely a hot takeeee. She is like you said classically trained. Along with her artistry her voice keeps getting stronger 😮💨 love your channel btw 🫶🏼
these videos are so cool and i genuinely get to know bout things like that kendrick part ! like I was kinda rooting for him and saying "wow what a man he is" and now i'm kinda underwhelmed though anyways love your energy and content/videos etc! keep going girl 50K like whaaa? we're so proud side note: that eye make up is EVERYTHING you ate that also matching it with the full look? Slay💅🏻 ☁☁☁☁☁☁
I fully agree with the white artists category, Chapelle Roan's debut studio album is great but it wears its influences, i honestly thought some of her songs was Marina and the diamonds if not her, i thought maybe I'm listening a Kate bush song that I've might've missed. But i cannot see what a Chappelle roan song feels like or is, she's still working snd this is only jer debut album but the Constant praise felt id whst this comment was aming about. I also think she's not a lady gaga she's more Cyndi Luper than gaga, miz with marina and Kate bush, I don't see lady gaga, unless u count fashion but she remind me more of Christiana's Marmalade
Rihanna is not a vocalist however let's not pretend like she didn't give us decades, decades of pop/rnb/rock etc. She gave us options to choose from, she gave versatility that grew into longevity that's why alot of these new girlies are being compared to her. It is redundant. It's getting boring and that's also why they aren't selling tickets. Look at her tour sales and she's not singing her heart out, she's using back tracks but it's the songs that she gave us we loved it.
