Yes, thank you. I don't know how so many people don't understand this. The one salary rule is meant to show how the man can save up, keep a stable income and is willing to share that with his wife. A woman can have offspring whenever she pleases, a man can't, and that's what makes him the pursuer. If you want a family, you're going to have to prove to the one who can give it to you that you're capable of making their lives easier, not harder like your average below minimum effort guy who plays video games all day and makes his wife (who often times makes more money than him) take care of the house, kids, and HIM.

@@mafamac4069 it legit took me 4 tries and NASA levels of analysis to understand what you were trying to communicate. But you know, your kind of mindset isn't at all uncommon with people who can't handle rejection or criticism, forever dooming themselves to submediocrity by convincing themselves that if they are hurt, they can't be the ones who are in the wrong, ultimately never improving. The dude with the 6$ ring threw a tantrum and left the woman because he knew she's gonna leave him and wanted to feel like he's not the loser who is publicly getting ditched because of his own shortcomings, but the one who did the public ditching. Deep down guys like you and him realize you don't deserve a partner but you don't have the strength or maturity to accept your faults and own up to them. All you are is people who refuse to have to deal with the shame of reality. It's not gonna get better for you until you do that. Keep digging your own hole if that's what you want, I can't stop you.

@@toxihex876Even if he/she doesn’t want children, he STILL has to prove himself worthy of a wife. If he can’t afford it, but doesn’t want children, he should not get a free wife. Or a discounted wife. The same standards apply even if he doesn’t want children. There are a lot of valuable duties and responsibilities outside of having children. If one wants an expensive ring as that’s the lifestyle she’s used to, expects, desires, and makes her happy, she should stick with those high/expensive standards. That depends on age too. If they started dating at 16-18 that's quite normal they wanted to graduate school and college first. As for the ring - I would agree. If they are still just kids - 6$ is okay as a temporary decision or something, or just a souvenir. But if it's and engagement ring from a grown@ss man - that's cringe. It doesn't even have to be some brand, maybe even not gold but good silver (some people can have allergies to gold) but 6$ is no way a better or worse decent ring in any country I guess, especially for an engagement ring. Most women wear them most of their time in public. Does this man want her to show to the others that her husband is cheap as hell?

And tbh she is attractive and the people who interviewed these random people made it seem like she's the only one who said yes, and then these stupid boys started saying, "the one who says it's okay is the most attractive one." Nothing wrong with wanting a traditional provider and protector who'd spoil you like his queen. Just make sure you're also a traditional homemaker who can cook and clean for her king. Of course, the chores should still be reasonably split, but you'd definitely be doing most of it if the husband's at work. Bottom line is, the standards you set for your partner should be the same for yourself.

As a woman if you are waiting for 8+ years, you've already failed. In these many years, she could've easily dated 8-10 different guys and picked a better quality male who isn't broke. Let's be honest, he broke up because he was ashamed that she exposed his $6 ring 🤭💀 As women, we create life aka future generation, don't do struggle love because your kids have to pay the price of your poor selection and live a struggle life because you choose struggle love over peace 😂 if he can't buy you a ring, he cannot afford to have you 🤷 Back in days, males who are broke didn't have the privilege to date or marry women. And he is taking care of his family and can't afford a ring, he should've told her within the first year, the way broke males try to gaslight us is crazy.

It seems like women have been conditioned to believe that they are incomplete without a man. It feels like we're still stuck in a patriarchal society. Seriously, how tf did we end up here?? We women have more advantages, options, and benefits than 150 years ago but we still choose to act like this?? Why??? To Ate Girl, you deserve more. I feel you. Oh no, spoiled girlies, I have a story about this. Years ago, I was in a relationship with a man who was a loser. My family and friends hated him, and knew he wasn’t going anywhere, but I couldn’t see it, probably for a variety of reasons that I won’t get into. Anyway, I dated him for a year and a half, and he proposed, which was completely NOT the plan at the time. We had meticulously planned out getting engaged when I had finished school, but he “surprised” me. I didn’t get to pick out, or even have an opinion on the ring, because it was some junk jewelry his older sister gave him to propose with. They didn’t want him to waste money on buying a ring. Nobody actually said that, but they didn’t have to, I just knew that’s what happened. I was so embarrassed to show that thing to my mother, who already hated him. He knew my family hated him, and he didn’t even attempt to try and win them over. That was the moment I knew I had to get away from him, but I just stood there like a deer in headlights, because I had defended this loser for so long. I wore that embarrassing ring around for another 6 months before I was finally able to get the courage to end it. In those 6 months, all the plans I thought we had made together went right out window. I realized he never intended to build a career, and he got involved in an obvious scam at the gym he worked at. It was so horrifying to watch all of this unravel, while I stood there in shock that I had defended this guy, when in fact, he was everything horrible everyone in my life could see plain as day. It is never just about the ring. You know when a man doesn’t value you. You know when he is being cheap. When a man treats his own life like something he can half-ass, then you will know he is going to treat his relationship with his life partner like something he can also half-ass. It is never just about the ring. Years later I met my husband who already had a bachelor’s degree, and was interviewing for medical school. We got married with just plain gold bands. We were poor in those early years, but he had already started building his future, and had a plan before he even met me. He had parents that had high standards for him and their other children. We have spent 20 years building a life together. He is a devoted husband and father, and I am the definition of a spoiled girlie, if spoiled girlie means safe, financially secure, and cherished. It is not a woman’s responsibility to build a man up. Stay away from complacent men who do nothing to build a life for themselves. Men will talk about all the things they are going to do in order to impress you, but then do nothing to actually accomplish those goal. It is truly alarming the number of young men who are sitting around, kicking rocks, and waiting for a woman to show up, and do all the work to build them up. Learn the difference between a complacent man who refuses to embrace, on his own, the struggle of life. Men with a future not only embrace the struggle of education, learning, and building, but also take pleasure in it. A man doesn’t have to abusive to be considered a bad man. He can also be complacent, and expect the women in his life to protect him from having to struggle to succeed in life. Don’t be that woman.

This man had 8 years to save up. He most likely didn't because he didn't plan on marrying her. That kind of men only marry when the woman presents them with an ultimatum and then frustratinly smears the biggest handful of cake in her tace at their wedding day even when she asks him not to. If you have to beg for a ring, the man is only staying with you because he doesn't see better options and he can't live without a mommy-housewife. I've seen what happens to those men if they stay single and it gets so filthy there's nothing even close to that extent anywhere in nature. If you don't have money for a ring, you can still put effort into making it something special that's personal to you two. The problem isn't that it costs little, since we can't know their particular financial situation, the problem is there was no care put into it. If he doesn't think marrying you is a big deal and you have long expressed that to you it is, he's not worth keeping. No matter what last ditch effort he presents to you, it's just for show. It's not your fault he's like that and it's not your duty to put up with it, even if you love him. Remember that the failures of his parents will be your failures to your sons and daughters if you choose to let him be half the foundation of their upbringing.

Men are throwing a lot of entitled little boy tantrums lately. It's been happening for like a decade and a half but now it's really picking up. I'm noticing a trend where when I reject someone, they act like I'm the one who's losing something. One time two of my friends said "you didn't dodge a bullet, you dodged a nuclear bomb" without knowing the other one had said that when I showed them the paragraphs of absolute brain necrosis one guy had written out to me. It's funny how they ask who women think they are and then react like this.

It's exactly like the Barbie movie portrayed. Humans are very easy to gaslight. Female accomplices to literal kidnappers and grapists have been pardoned in court because it's determined that they have been groomed into it and cannot be held responsible because they are victims too, they just got brainwashed into not realizing. Society does nothing to protect women from that kind of abuse and even shames them into having a problem with it. I'm glad at least now she's out and most likely has proper standards as a result.

Let’s be real here. He never planned to marry her in the first place. He loathed her and just couldn’t figure out how to find an acceptable excuse to break up with her. Then he decided to do this. He was hoping she’ll finally walk away. But she didn’t even though she wasn’t pleased with him disrespecting her. Finally, he decided to make her disappointment the reason to break up. It was his plan all along. You just need to see it for what it is. That ring was probably not even sterling silver. Would have turned her finger green and likely had a plastic stone in place of a diamond. Unless you’re in high-school, that’s not acceptable. Even at the low end of a budget, you can buy a 14k-18k gold ring with some inexpensive but sparkly stone for $500. This is just the dude being cheap on purpose. Why even spend $8? Next time just make a ring out of foil or a condom rubber. It will have the same effect. She deserves so much better!

I am so tired of the entitlement of men, entitled to women's time/ attention/bodies. These days they seem to lack the ability to take "no" for an answer. Recently I had an encounter with a work colleague. He thought he had the right to date me, because I am single and because he was in to me and was a "decent guy", never mind him wondering if I was actually attracted to him. He would not take my kind hints at "no" and eventually I had to be the bad person and give him a stern "no". How do we spot these pretend "nice guys" and get rid of them sooner so that it does not make situations like work awkward?

A ring was never meant to be a manifestation of a mans love. It was insurance in the form of gold. If the man screwed her over she could at least sell the ring and use that $. A man who can't buy an expensive ring, also can't afford a life or a wife. It's just common sense.

I was with my first boyfriend for 7 years, even moved to another country for him and lived there for 5 years. I went to work when he was at university, paying for groceries and stuff, then I was unemployed for a time when he went to work after university and he paid for things. While we were together, I asked him if we could move out from his mum's house so we could have our own space, because we were living in his single bedroom and it was crammed af. He said it was too expensive. I asked if we could at least get a car so we could get around and be more independent, he said it was too expensive. When I wanted to go out, to the cinema or something, he said okay, but I gotta pay. When we broke up because I was unhappy and depressed, he called me a gold digger (he had no gold to dig!) and made sure to milk me of as much money as he could before I went back to my country. Not that I had any money, he just wanted to hurt me as best he could before losing access to me and make sure I was going to struggle on my own with barely any money to my name. And as soon as I was gone, guess what? He bought a car. What an asshole.

if I remember correctly, the european tradition of givin golden (or any expensive metal) ring at the wedding exist so people of the past viewed the proposal and marriage seriously. The priests came up with the idea so the young couples wouldn't just bother them with marriage if they simply wanted to have -s-x and divorce later. So the priests required the couples to have expensive rings (silver, gold, etc) so they view the marriage seriously, like a serious investment. Moral of the story: the priests of the past won't even speak to you if you bring 6$ ring. They knew you're fake and not ready for marriage.

I was appalled by the number of women and men invalidating the girl's feelings and even gaslighting her instead of understanding her position. The moment I read that post, I automatically felt sorry for her, I don't understand why some people are so narrow minded. The girl will not be disappointed if she knew that the guy is incapable to give her a decent ring, but no. The guy she's in relationship with had 8 years to prepare, yet that's the only thing he can give her. Plus, I do believe the guy is capable to give her much more and better, but he chose to give her the below bare minimum. That's way too insulting and disrespectful.

I'm also Filipina and married for 5 yrs and I was really vocal to my then bf now husband on what I want in a proposal, wedding and lifestyle. I am very introverted but I wanted him to go and formally ask my hand in marriage from my parents. I wanted a diamond ring that goes along with virtually all my fashion sense (minimalist modest fashion), a court wedding (I am not a believer to any religion) and a small buffet for friends and family which was a small pax on a quaint resto, and finally, a lifestyle where I still feel at ease if ever I decide not to work/have kids (I still work because I love earning a good amount of money whilst not having kids yet). Initially, I thought it was so beautiful for him to be this close with his mom and sisters… I pretended that I’m cool with him running out at 2am at night to pay for his sister’s cats vet bill or when he was dropping everything to run an errand for his mom. Not mentioning staying in constant contact with them day or night. I smiled and pretended it doesn’t bother me. I acted cool and any attempt of me trying to point out the issue would end in an argument. At the same time, I was treated by them like an intruder and an outsider. Never wanted, never accepted… now I have a child with this person, and oh my, he showed his true colors during the pregnancy and postpartum. I managed to get out of that toxic relationship but now my son is suffering and I bare tremendous amount of guilt for putting up and accepting below bare minimum effort behavior. After watching the Barbie movie I was looking for books to get more information and substance so I can understand. It’s so hard to put into words all the things I’m feeling and the injustice of it all. It’s easier to handle and be able to combat something that you see and experience when there is a term for it. I want my little nieces to know that they deserve more and to not settle for less. @@a.y.greyson9264OP is referring to when the man always puts his family first as in his parents regardless of how long you been together in a romantic relationship. He will choose his family as in his parents or sometimes their siblings over putting you first. Think of the show smothered for any other TLC show that has a ridiculously close mom son dynamic or even Coltee and his mom from 90 day fiancé. His mom would always meddle in his life and personal relationships to the point where it would be the cause of him getting divorced and then later on separated when he married again.

Yeah, she might complain about the cheap wedding ring too 😅 I feel your frustration girl! I just dealt with a full group of man disparaging women, and a pick-me-sha yesterday. I felt drained, and I remembered your words. Girl, gotta protect our energy. ❤

Could you do one video addressing the belief that as women, as we age, we lose our market value, especially in Asian countries and/or among Asian cultures? It is like we have an expiration stamp on our forehead as we age. I am Vietnamese. All my Vietnamese friends, acquaintances believe that as we age, we better settle down fast, no more choosing because we are only getting older and not younger. Time is running out for us. And because we are getting older, we have to be less picky and that we are losing market value rapidly. And in those women’s eyes, older women have a harder time finding a “dream partner” and not we are no longer desirable.

You shouldn’t be getting advice from this if you want to get married. My mom is past 40 and single. Breaks my hurt to see her struggling while dating. people always said she looked like my sister but guys her age just don’t take her seriously cause of age. as a man I think even 28 years old is getting a little too old. Do the opposite of the advice you get on here. By 33 years old a girl looks noticeable worn down and will be a huge downgrade from a girl that’s 25 years old.

Thank you for verbalizing that it’s okay to be ungrateful. Not in a spiteful way but an understanding that your standards are valid and it’s okay to maintain them.
