Feelings are what make us human. There's no reason why we should bottle them up. In the season 7 episode of MLP FIM, All Bottled Up, ‪@doc_anubis‬ and I explain why it's important to communicate your emotions to others. Even if they're not the most pleasant emotions.
Thank you so much for collaborating with me on this video, Doc Anubis!

I remember when we watched this episode. It struck a huge chord with both of us. It's a unique message for a kids' show. I feel like a lot of shows for kids are just like "be nice" and that's it. It comes from a good place, but it's more toxic than I think people realize because it forces us into that "just be nice" mindset, without letting us really confront our feelings.

Not just kids adults too so it’s not just a kids show it’s also catered to autistic people too

It’s catered to everyone but the 2 main targeted audience is kids and autistic people from what I noticed

I still remember when we watched this episode together. And yeah, it really did speak to both us. I always got that sense from "kids" shows that the message that they'd get across is, "be nice to others and treat them the way you want to be treated". It's a really good lesson to go by, though it's not always the case as we see in this episode. Thanks for the comment Shadowflare!

I'm kinda going through a bit of this myself right now, with my mother. I'm as patient as I can be. I usually handle little things like re-re-re-teaching her how to use her smartphone, and bugging me about it while I'm driving. But there are bigger issues where she yells at me, and if I yell back, she cries like SHE was wronged... I shrug it off. But as we all know, those smaller issues build up over time. And telling her how I feel, on the fly, doesn't solve it. She will just turn it into an argument.

I’m in the same boat. Also at a loss with how to handle it healthily. Best I got is to leave, but then again I can’t do that cause the house is in my name and I don’t want to leave my dog.

As someone with autism, i struggle with anger issues just as much as Starlight. Anger can go over your head and make you feel like you want to punch or kick something, but im my case, i feel like i want to bite something. When i was at school, i was angry more often during lessons. This makes me leave the classroom and wanting to be alone, but the teacher would follow me and would bother me the whole time while cooling down. My friend would do the same, but unfortunately got treated worse. Being forced to go in the classroom, i could tell my friend wasn’t liking it. This episode showed me that everybody needs time to cool down, and leave them alone when they are. Thank you for explaining this topic.

I have autism too, and I would get physically aggressive when I was younger: bites and clawing with my nails.

Hi! It's so nice to see another autistic person with the same struggles. I'm still in school and deal with a lot of problems with my teachers and classmates. Thank you for making me feel seen and heard.

As a fellow Autistic person I have to ask, how did you get better with your anger issues? My family is so frustrating that I have to lock myself in my room and not interact with them. Like, my brother was acting bigoted and being a general ass once, so I followed advice my mom gave me once and I simply went outside and said nothing. Problem is, my brother then followed me and started acting like the victim basically ranting and then saying stuff like "but clearly I'm the asshole, right?" It's really hard for me to deal with that stuff, it makes me wish he didn't live with us. Do you have any advice?

It definitely didn’t only feel like bottled up anger, it felt like it was part intrusive thoughts. She said “if Trixie knew what I was thinking right now, she’d never talk to me again”. That’s very related as someone with horrible intrusive thoughts.

As someone that bottles up their emotions a lot, I can tell you it's not fun at all, especially once all the feelings get out all at once. It's ruined relationships for me in the past. Communicating feelings is something that I've always struggled with, and it's something I'm trying to get better at. Awesome video! Nice job both of you 👍🏻

Thanks Jake! Yeah, emotions have usually been hard for me to communicate, part of why I'd end up bottling them up. I know I've gotten better at it. I still have room to improve though. Appreciate the comment bud 😉

People need to remember that emotions come up eventually in some sort of way. It might not be nesscarily obvious (AKA you finally snap and get red-faced and have steam come out of your ears metaphorically speaking), but a lot of feeling crappy and depressed comes from anger being vented out in other ways because your holding it in. Its okay to feel angry. If you need to, talk to friends or family (That aren't the ones upsetting you), try to talk to the people who are upsetting you to try to get them to stop the behavior, or seek professional council if need be. But its okay to feel it.

This episode hit a little close to home considering I tend to repress how I feel and instead say, “How are you? How can I help?” My friends have said that I tend to worry about them more than me. I’m working on it though

I’ve recently beeen going through this by dealing with my anger and disappointment in my friends actions. I’ve also had anger issues too, but am trying to learn to cope with it properly through therapy.

As someone who felt forced to suppressed their emotions a lot of my life, this episode is definitely an important one to me. One of the more important lessons I've had to learn in recent years is that my emotions are valid. Obviously there are unhealthy ways to express emotions, but it's necessary to never ignore or suppress your emotions.

its too bad nobody listens to the the morals and message's in the show in real life. as someone who's been online and had friends who eventually backstabbed me and to this day refuse to take their side of responsibility for the infightings and eventual fallout. it hurts to know that they never cared and keep refusing to listen and this vary thing ruins the internet for me i wish people would just grow TF up and discuss things with each other like adults and stop arguing with each other like little crybabies over the smallest things online.

Thank you so much for this video!! I feel struggle of toxic friendship of Vlada, Jacob and Maddie. I hide my feelings and pretend that I'm fine.. I'm so angry of this kind of treatment... But Vlada says "If I was in your place" and she wants me to be happy of this. Yet she calling me "Drama Queen" few times, while I was being honest... Anyway, I have an idea for next video: "Being honest not always be the solution" Like you're so concentrate to be honest, and that you didn't notice that you hurt feelings, but you don't care about it. I hope you can make this video

yeah i've been there cos when i was in a toxic relationship i created the idea of being ''tough guy'' instead of showing how i was really feeling which lead to baggage and my mental health didn't do any good after i was rejected again i lost it, and when the storm calmed i went into therapy and it helped my so much i'm still grateful so the help i got to get over my past. though i do remember my fears let me to perfectionism boy that was a mistake.

This was such a great video, congrats you two! I've always been so ashamed of my anger; I don't get angry too often, but when I do, I refuse to let it out and insist on bottling it up. I'm getting better at letting my anger out in a healthy way, but it's still a process. Mlp has so many great messages that you wouldn't expect from your typical kids' show, and this one is really important. Thank you guys for discussing this episode, I feel like if the world listened to lessons like this we would be better off as people and a society as a whole.

This video was truly a good one. I liked how you chose doc Anibus for the job because he has also went through a similar situation. This episode nowadays is so relevant in my life in regards to my freindship with a person I've been freinds for a long time 9 years. This is how I feel about me. And my friend s friendship... this ep I honestly relate to with my friend being Trixie and me being starlight. Bottling up feelings because I'm. Scared that something bad will happen or that she will do something But even tho I'm. Scared.... I gotta tell her in a assertive calm manner and not bottle up my feelings, she never changes I really wanna speak to her about how much I feel like she is using me. I'm scared but I acknowledge is necessary for me to express my feelings and not bottle them up. . It's not healthy for me to avoid this situation. If she takes her anger out on me one more time... I am not gonna hesitate, I'm gonna straight up be assertive towards her and stand up for myself. And support my wellbeing..

As someone who doesn't get angry to offen here online but in life there has been moments that others has hurt me so much and I am still battling with it. I will leave it at that I know it's not a good idea to bottle up my anger but honestly I still do it and it turns more into sadness. But on a lighter note I am glad and happy to know that my friends go though similar things as I do so I don't feel alone thank you Samic and doc and I will check docs page out ❤😊

I mostly suppress my emotions. it always ends badly if i express them, so I typically don't. The main emotion i bottle up is my sadness. I have a bottomless pit of grief that I cover up with a carpet and wood boards. If i felt those emotions, I wouldn't make it out on the other side.
