I spend hundreds and hundreds of hours grinding for gear and I literally played nothing else for 18 months straight. Missed so many games and like you I saw the light

bro PA legit divalues gear faster than I can grind for it... i left the game after they gave away a PEN BS. i comeback tp the game when debo rings got released to find out my accuracy set lost 300b in value and my others accessories lost another 120, my tri fallen gods got so much cheaper to... so i sold my acc set and made few tet debos by myself and bought one tet debo ring for 80b, i was bored of clicking debos to fail so i took another break to play other game. i comeback yesterday and now debos are sitting on the market, tets start from half of i paid for them and my black star that i enhanced is no longer BIS... wtf PA is doing! i grind and progress backwards! please send this in partner discord and let them know!

Literally spent 270 bill a few weeks ago trying to PEN my debo earring and now its sitting on the market at 150. It feels so harsh and demotivating

I haven't logged in for 3 weeks, and I feel invigorated. So much free time to do things rather than sit on a game for hours nonstop grinding only to have PA nerf and screw up the classes I enjoy playing...I'm done with all the nerfs, and the drop in value for all the Debo stuff I grinded makes my decision to walk away that much easier...

Noone would be mad if this sort of devaluing was common but the game went many years with out gear prices shifting so radically. In the past the changes were between 1-15% at the very worst. But this time PA made so many game changing changes in short succession that the market crashed in the span of few months. This time most people lost 40-70% in gear value compared to what it was 1-15% before for years. By most people I mean those that actullay put in the grind, not the ones that RP in Velia since 2015

They give Capotia earring for level 65 or so and give PEN BLACKSTAR FOR DOING NOTHING

LOL I used to grind for these debos. I stopped playing this game for a month now and I don't miss it. PA taught me not to waste my time on this game anymore. PA's gear progression is done wrong imo they should not keep moving the goal post at such a rapid rate and should not crash the prices so quickly. People get upset and will conclude that this game waste their time and money. Instead what they should do is make side upgrades for new content, new region. Make certain gear more effective than other in certain map regions. This would be very respectful of people's time and effort instead of slapping them in the face. If you think of the time and effort required plus the bad rng and stale content i immediately think "No thanks" first time around was already awful and I don't want to go through that again.

Up until now, the devs have been totally missing the point. This game feels empty because it's all about solo grinding, and that’s just not fun. Sure, some people who like playing alone might be into it, but most of us play online games to group up and experience some real action. Nowadays, it takes forever to hit top gear, and you're stuck grinding alone the whole time. Honestly, they only survived because of the pandemic. The real way to make a game fun is to have group content, like dungeons and events, where you feel like you're achieving something big together. BDO clearly doesn’t care about making the game enjoyable; it's all about squeezing out profits. If they don’t start adding group content that gives end-game gear, instead of this brainless solo grind, I don’t see BDO lasting much longer.

The problem for me isn't the gear devaluing (most mmos do this), it's just the boring endless cycle of grinding. Yeah, if I take a break for 1-2 years from wow, my gear will be pretty trash and Ill have to raid again. But guess what, that time spent raiding is gonna be fun. Im gonna join a guild, im gonna make some friends, we're gonna play together for 4-5 hours every saturday and laugh and have fun and get angry together and feel that sense of accomplishment together. At the end of the day, I'm gonna be left with some amazing memories. BDO? Nope. I played since 2016 and quit in around 2021. My fondest memories are with my first ever guild, them teaching me how to fish, to a few of us sticking together until the end and doing content together. Grinding sausans with them back when it was a top spot. I won't look back on my 100h grinding for a pen bs and think "ah, that was so fun, running around in circles ALONE was amazing, I don't regret that at all" when the next big upgrade releases and everyone gets in 1h what i got in 1 year. Socialization in this game is nonexistant besides the trash talking in the chat, it used to be a bit better before the pvp changes, when you'd get killed outside of heidel and you'd call your guild over, trash talking from the sides while a big GvG is going on but you're constantly dying. Enemies turned friends, frustrations turned fond memories. Now? Log in, mindlessly grind for 3 hours, log out, rinse and repeat. That's the real reason people get mad at this, not because our gear becomes obsolete as it happens with time in mmos, it's because the journey there sucks, and at the end of the day you're left with *nothing* . No memories, no good gear, just a character that was once great becoming average at best, and the memories of mindlessly dissociating while grinding for 100h for a 1% upgrade. Socialization is the biggest part of a mmo, and BDO is straying further and further away from it. Forgot to mention: I literally met one of my best friends on BDO 7 years ago. I met him twice in my life, we've been there for each other (we live in different countries) and we see each other as siblings at this point. We helped each other, we laughed together, cried together. All because of guilds actually having a purpose in the open world, helping you out when some asshole pks you, and me calling my guildmates over to help me out. I tried to get into this game for the past 3 years again, over and over again, I always try to join a guild and be active and make friends, and I quit a few days later. People barely talk in the guild chat, nobody asks for help anymore. It may still happen, but not as much as it did back then, I used to find myself in a pvp situation at least once every 2 days and Im not a pvp player at all, it was frustrating but fun. Now? The last time I pvped was in 2020. Communities make mmos, FF14 is mediocre at best with a decent story, but its community and detailed RP aspects made it this popular. I legit see no hope for BDO anymore

Unique attribute modifying items with strengths and downsides along with content that is harder because of way the mobs interact, move, or types of attacks they do would be a much more interesting means of progression than just “these mobs hit harder and take less damage”.

The issue is everything is dropping in price, but cron stones aren't, cause they're $$$. Enchanting for profit became a joke long time ago, but now even enchanting for achievement and your name on the item is not worth the money. To clarify: I have no issue with gear degrading. Would be quite boring, if they wouldn't introduce new goals to chase. But right now everything just comes down to raw silver/h, and cronning the hell out of sovereign / debos up to now.

Yesterday was the last day. I came back when they gave those pen blackstar weapons and was nothing but dissatisfied. Pearl Abyss is milking it as much as they can before sunsetting.

I've always said this in Reddit and keep getting downvoted for it, but it's just true. PA should never have been handing out progression, and instead, handed out more quality of life for time played. Imagine if after a month of playing you got a tent, imagine if after every month you got a free maid, every month you got enough free pearls to buy one costume in the pearl shop (you can almost never get costumes, especially the new ones in SEA and other servers unless you top up) But no, their idea of retaining players and getting more new ones is to hand out free PEN blackstars like nobody's business. If the game's grind is so good, why are you giving out something that's grindable? The combat is the ONLY reason left for someone to play this game, and modern games are catching up. There is absolutely no reason to play this when very very good multiplayer games exist today. If you consider this a single-player game (hello introverts) then this game gets outshined by literally any hoyoverse game, lol. And you're not throwing away your life for playing it, and even if you don't spend they will still throw you a bone. Meanwhile in BDO. Here's a theia's orb after 6 months!

BDO is grinding money spots to buy BIS items and try pen it for RNG. The ap you get from tet to pen doesn't really make much difference overall and yeah, that's it. Now you just get all the items you need anyways from Ball events... I had the most fun in BDO when I was around 232ap because I had so many things to do, and things to get. Back when we weren't handed free shit all the time. Now, I feel like quitting and perhaps coming back in 3 years

PVE player here, went to ba 2 days go with 336 aap and I could not kill more than half of the people in there. I remember when 261 aap was a major thing and u could spot vs anyone with that ap

gear progression like this doesnt make sense if each time it happens u have to spend 100s of hours just for u to get near being fullgeared and have to do it all over again and again ..

Ppl seem to fail to understand, that the nature of all MMOs. You grind gear , new gear or content comes the gear crashes then new gear comes. Atleast in BDO they are letting you upgrade old gear into new , where games like WoW which I do play on the side. It completely invalidates your gear every expansion.

Love you man but I disagree with the 6 month timeframe to reach top tier gear. That may work in WoW because their gear is invalidated rather quickly whenever a new raid is introduced, as you said. BDO is not that type of game and I don't think it should be because this is the niche in the MMO market that it fills. This is a game where historically, gear was not invalidated quickly and for this to work, you cannot reduce the timeframe to reach top gear to only 6 months.

I will add this, and disregard it if you want; It was very disheartening for the developers to turn around and make almost everything easily obtainable for everyone. I know the grind sucked, but we all had decisions to make. I could have focused on being a BA rat or RBF only person to focus solely on PVP, but I wanted to better my character and account. I wanted to obtain the best gear I could. Which meant devote my playing time to grinding it out. I enhanced all my gear, I didn't buy it. It was my choice. Then I decided for NW, I would focus on getting the Infinite Potions, which we all know meant countless hours grinding for the pieces. With this, it meant I didn't have to carry a ton of pots for NW. I could carry more repair items for our fort/defense. Again, I put off pvping every free moment to making gains in the game to have a better end result because this was supposed to be the direction. Reward the hard work. Others got really really good at pvping, but we all know grinding mobs 90% of the time does not have the same reactions as a real player fighting back. What does PA do? Create a pity system so all that dedication, literally a year for both potions before drops were buffed, to hand out these rare "treasure pieces". Same went for the compass and treasure map. PA undermined all the players who put in the time, for the people who didn't want to. Where did that get them? Most of those players who invested very little to zero time, couldn't care less and most left the game in the end. This is part of what BlondBear was trying to convey. You (PA) made me not even care anymore and accept this game was not going to change and go to shit. There was no longer a purpose to strive to obtain these rare items in the game because you are just going to hand it out for free in a couple months.

250 hours just for a accesory is to much, the problem is that with debo they killed the rest of accesories

This situation had also occurred years ago with "Ogre and Tungrad" Level accessories. I believe there’s no need to dwell on this too much. It seems that PA has new plans. They might even announce red tier accessories; we can’t know for sure. We are playing an MMORPG, and every game tends to make things easier for players who fall behind over time and provides opportunities for them to catch up with the top players. If the gap is closing quickly, you can be sure that new tier items will be added. While veteran players spend their resources on new items, they will sell the Debo or same grade items they obtain at a lower price, and casual players will soon be able to reach PEN Debos. In this case, I don't see anything different from the cycle that has been repeated for years. I also think there's nothing to be exaggerated. Thanks for content

well i bought my pen lunar when it was 160bill, my pen turo belt at 140bill, my pen omnimous at 140 bill and second one for 120 bill. To see those prices just drop makes me feel like i just should have waited. Im happy to see them drop in price. i dont want people to have to grind for 100+ hours for one piece of gear. The debo grind already makes me want to quit. its not even reasonable. I think people should be glad prices are droping.

I will say I have loved doing the new group bosses hope they expand on stuff like this.

I used to grind all day chasing hardcap cause back than gear meant everything and it was so awesome being geared when open world pvp was a thing, its crazy how the game has changed now its a casual pve game.

I have been hard capped for months and had 2 pen rings within 2 weeks. I grinded my ass off to get that stuff. BUT I'm not mad, that the prices crashed. All that gear has my name on it and I was at the top for a very long time. I saved up almost 2000b for the new weapons. I'm happy that others can catch up and my focus can swap to the next item to craft.

Everyone knows their gear loses value over time, silver inflation increases over time. People are complaining over actually nothing, pretending they had their head in the sands and did not know they were playing an MMO that gets new content added. BDO players enjoy grinding, then complain when their old gear isnt bis and theres a new grind. Nothing but hypocrites with no self awareness. I still have my tri liverto in my storage that I worked for back in the day and Im not moaning.

I call it the early adopter tax. Similar to any new tech or product, if it's in high demand and you want it early, you're going to pay a premium. The only difference here is the extremity to which "early adopter" players had to go to get the best gear. That's the flaw in the gear progression framework PA has carried, and it was always going to reach a breaking point.

I like the cheaper accessories, makes it easier for me to catch up honestly.

Waiting for Pen Debos same price at pen tungs. I look at Pen Cres and Pen Ruins rings now only cost 9b-11b and now Tet Debos 37b are more cheaper than Pen Tung rings 41b.

People are always going to ask themselves. WHY AM I GETTING THIS GEAR? For wow its to do either pvp rated content or raiding or mythic + dungeons. All three need groups, good teamwork and when you find your own online mates the challenge becomes exciting. BDO is amazing, beautiful and very rewarding at times. BUT. You are alone. There are no goals. There is no point to getting the best gear. If you going to go around in circles to be able to just grind in one spot. Then you can just do that now and dw about putting 1000 hours. All they need to do to make this game amazing is release an update that allows players to grind together and make classes synergise to be able to get more silver. The more people come the harder the content gets and you can reward them with a chest after the hour for a chance to have a rare item drop. If the items are only from those chests and you can't buy them people will play. idk im a wow player now and space marine 2 so yeah LOL

its just too much of a time sink for me right now. i cant waste hundreds of hours grinding in circles for a single item and a CHANCE to upgrade.

At this point, I just play BDO to relax after a long day of work and workout. I just put a podcast in the background or an audiobook and I go Yzrahid or Crescent Dhekia and just unwind my brain. I don't really care about gear and progression. I am 760+ GS just doing this.

So happy i sold all my grind gear when accuracy accs etc were like 100-120b+ but then I used it all to gamble for pen manos accs LOL

I had 3 pen debos, 3 pen blackstars, feeling a little butt-hurt about value being completely trashed on patch, yet to do rings, after wasting hundreds of bil trying for rings, Sov weaps seem to be mega cron sink and struggling to make enough silver to feel progression.

You dont need a pen debo to grind 1-1.5 billion/hr. Idk what that job comparison is for. The person paid for weeks of privilege of being 1 generation of gear ahead. Now he wants a refund after eating the food. People in the comments acting like they expected gear to stay the same in value, are so blatantly circle jerking.

this isnt new. tungrad accessories used to be the absolute pinnacle. now look. reducing the value of accessories is actually GOOD, theyve been way too expensive for way too long. the enhancement system needs to be entirely revamped and/or crons need to be infused into the normal grind loop of the game at around caphras rarity. the game has plenty of problems, but people for whatever reason seem to love to mention things that are only related to the problem and not the root of the problem(which is and always has been enhancing). (this comment isnt necessarily specifically targetted at you, pansy. especially since you said devaluing naturally happens all the time. just the community in general.)

Tbh I think it's a good thing overall. I know so many players that joined only to get crushed by the grind and quit. Having them catch up is normal. Debis also lost value but it's still very profitable to grind their locations. We needed players to catch up to actually have open world bc prior to this with the Dr changes, me at 722gs couldn't hit half the guys. Literally I'd get a full combo off and get them to 90%. It was not fun at all and I refused to progress my gear bc of it

These game items are a temporary reward for the time, money, and energy you invest, but their value quickly fades of course as new crap comes out. It's a sunk cost, offering just a dopamine hit. Unlike real-world investments, these items don’t appreciate or hold value. Instead of focusing on accumulating in-game assets and worrying about depreciation, enjoy the journey I say.

I grinded at ash forest dehkia with 320 ap and 410 dp and made 14k trash loot per hour for straight 2 months and daily average 6 to 8 hours and made about 600B. I bought my neck pen at 284 and earring at 235. Can you feel it ?

wrong logic dude. in the early bdo days trashed items such as pen dande/debo are valuable - BECAUSE AT THE TIME, YOU ARE THE ONLY PERSON OR AT LEAST TOP 1% OF THE COMMUNITY THAT OWNS THAT ITEMS, meaning = you got more AP than the rest of the players. So dont reminisce too much on how valuable those items were. Even in real life things are bound to be obsolete as time pass and progress

I mean this happens with every mmo. Wow literally every season comes with an upgrade. Progression always happens and yes it sucks that gear is now moving forward but you also need people to catch up or they'll just never play

Rather than keep adding new gear and adding hex-dec steps after pen, PA really needs to add a different system to upgrade gear rather than crons. Thats the single largest thing holding the game back currently imo.

Take a look I challenge you on how a pc game reaches mobile level micro transacations. Every single MMO ever has this problem, but infinitely worse. The same way your rune scimitar went from 40k to alch value, the same way your abyssal whip went from 1-2m to 250k. Why would I be concerned with my gear devaluing? This means I can get the things I'm missing easier and if there is nothing that I need, I can prepare for the next step. I want all grind spots to be doubled in value, 1bill/hr is absolute trash when looking at the cost of all pen debo/Sov/Tet Fallen Armors. I love the game but to get to "Endgame" is unrealistic

It's a fucking MMO, it doesn't have any innate value whatsoever. If you already have the debo, sure you lose a ton of resale value but who cares you already have all that AP. If you don't already have debos, pog its cheaper.
