1. Go DIY! C&C cages are surprisingly easy to build, they are 100% customisable and extendable too, you can get creative and have lots of fun building them. Search online for guides of how to make them. All you need is grids, correx, a tape measure, a craft knife and some strong tape! C&C cages are also great because they will provide 4-5 times as much space when compared to a store bought cage for the same price!
2. SPACE! Space is essential for a super cage! The recommended size for 2 pigs is a 2 x 4 C&C cage.

3. Height. Choosing the height of the cage can make it easier to clean out, keep the piggies safe from other pets/small children and provide you with magical storage solutions!
4. Materials. Check your cage materials are strong and safe (not treated with nasty chemicals). I used 4mm thickness correx for my cage. Make sure you trim off cable ties and keep them out of the reach of piggies.
5. Position. A bright, moderately used room is the ideal place for a guinea pig's cage. Natural light and more interaction between you and your guinea pigs will help you bond and get used to one another's company. In my opinion an inside cage is best, especially for new owners or when getting guinea pigs for children.

My mom used to have a guinea pig when she was a child - she just kept it inside her old paddling pool :) seems like a clever idea to me, since the pool was propably bigger and cheaper than any store-bought cage.

We just made our c and c cage and our 2 pigs from the shelter are so happy! We are going to get another girl to add to our herd when the shelter gets one. I can also let them have floor time in the room, so they will have lots of running space. I sew, so I am making absorbent fleece pads with uhaul bedding inside. I am also making some for my granddaughter's hedgehog. It is such fun to have piggies!

I am re-watching all your videos: when we first got our piggies, I watched them all as an excellent way to learn how to look after the piggies. Two years in, it's like a refresher course. And Ihave finally saved up and got a C and C cage, so this weekend I will be sticking, cutting and swearing while I make ours!

When I walked in pets at home there was a aquarium type cage that couldn't have been bigger than a 2x3 c and c cage. It had 5 piggies in and on 2 huts on food bowl and 1 water bottle 😱

I got my piggies from petco there were 6 of tyem in one tank and i got them all and they all have such a better life then what they had before and there cage is humungus

Thank you, very helpful! My daughter's two guinea pigs have an inside cage of 120cmX90cm, my husband built it. She also has an outside hutch, so on weekends they go out in the morning (if it doesn't rain of course) in the backyard where they can graze and enjoy outside time. In the afternoon, and always before dark (it gets dark early around Sydney), she takes them inside. On weekdays they mostly stay inside because she works all day.

I'm getting one guinea pig, he was my little cousin's but he only "took care" of the guinea pig for 2 days. The parents feed him and give him water but that's about it. I want to get the biggest cage possible to make him feel welcomed. So thank you so much for this video it really helps :D

Yay! You've made in appearance in another video! This is an excellent video with great tips! :) I remember using the comparison of a pet shop cage I had come across with the rabbit condos we built. The cage was on sale for $250.00 CDN, a decent sized for a pet shop cage but still nowhere near large enough! We built Rocky and Honey's 4 level condo for almost 1/2 that price! And I love the plexi too! Perhaps there will be a new cage video coming up in your future heehee? ;)

I love c&c cages. I have a guinea that doesn't do well with other cage mates, so its on its own. But I have a sweet cat and they are bff's. Her cage is a 4x3 cage with a 2x2 level. C&c is sooo cheap and rewarding. I got mine for only $60 and its sooo cheap for size. I love them so much ♥

Hii watched ur vid it's cool. I really like ur hutch! I wish I chose a better hutch for my piggies but yeah I guess next time I know what to do! Anyway commenting on how u suggested for the hutch to be indoor I agree I lost my piggie last year to stroke because of the sun and it was really sad I miss her. So on a hot day keep ur pigs inside and check up on them or just leave ur hutch inside!!

+mylittlemiss I have the same prob so for a while i decided to get a good sized hutch! Then I thought "what will happen to them in winter?" So I got on a few websites got a measure stick and measured every where! I mean every where! Finally I found the perfect spot for them in the shade but still get light! It's in a nice little corner out of the way but they're not going to be ignored! I almost gave up hope so don't u give up hope!

Hay, thanks for the great video. I came across some of this correx in my garage today which im really pleased about as im hoping to make a C&C cage too. Just need to check the sheets are big enough, there are four sheets of it. Are the easy to make?, im going to wait till my piggies have recovered from their URI. Dont want them to get stressed. X

Ok so u get the liner in a sheet form? Can u pick it up at home depot? How many do u need for a 24 count of squares with a loft c&c cage and not using but half so 18 peaces id prob use. Maybe less.

Hey ! I'm planning to adopt a pair of guinea pigs, but I don't have much space (like, at all) in my flat. Do you think it's ok to get them a store bought cage for a while ? (I'll put some money aside to get myself a laptop so I can get rid of my bigass computer and desk in order to get enough space for a 2x4 C&C cage) Or maybe I should wait and get the space at first ? I really want cavies (and I actually need company, living alone is making me sad), but I wouldn't want them to be unhappy...

I'm getting a third pig soon, and I have my first two in a 4x2. If I extended to a 5x2 with a 1x2 loft do you think that would be big enough? a 5x2 is the biggest i could go and I'm also using fleece so I need it to be easy to sweep clean. What do you think?

In the US Kmart and Walmart sell cubes. Kmart has them cheaper, by far. Got two sets of 30 grids for $17 each. I made a 6X2 cage with a second floor for well under half what I paid for a little cage that my pig was in. I can't imagine what it would be like to have a more active pig ( current boy is shy, he only moves around when you are holding him, really) They would be miserable in his little cage.

Hi, I love your channel so much! I saw most of the videos and I'm on my way to see the rest :) After watching your videos, I am afraid that I might be doing a huge harm to my 6 months old guinea pig, her cage is pretty small compared to yours and I am scared that she might be really upset about this. I have her for 4 months and tomorrow I'm planning to get another one, to keep her companion, as from your videos I learned, that they need a friend. However, the cage in size, is like the top of your cage, which is very small. She only has a water bottle, food bowl and the rest is just hay, that's laying on the side. I am afraid that I can't provide a bigger cage for her and her future friend and I am really concerned about it. I'm going to try to create somehow, more room for them and I wondered is that not enough in your opinion? I'm also afraid that if I put a bed in there, she's going to pee all over it, anytime she's outside of the cage, which is pretty often, I always put her on the bed and she just hides under blankets and she loves to sit there, she's not afraid of me, however she likes to be in dark warm places. Recently, I put a box with an opening in her cage, however she doesn't seem to want to leave it, she just goes out to eat or drink, so I took it out, as I was afraid she might get too used to it. I have no idea what should I do with the box, should I give it back to her? Also what do you think about the cage size? I love all your videos and your guinea pigs! :)

Hi - I use waterproof liners now but used to just use fleece folded over old towels for a long time which also worked fine, it was just a bit more time consuming to clean the cage 🙂

I live in a tiny cottage with 2 female piggies. They have a cage that is 97cm x 46cm. This is really bad. I don't know what to do as I hardly have room for myself. I let them out in the garden everyday and they are in my garden shed in the summer. I also let them go round the house with supervision but it still isnt good enough. What can I do?

Hiya, that is a small cage for two piggies, if there is no way you can offer them any bigger you really need to give them the most amount of floortime possible, maybe there's a way you can design a pen so it's quick and easy to put up and take down? :)
