Yesterday RU-vid handed down their final decision to SummoningSalt, that his video will remain age restricted because of the three second clip of swearing. One of the worst examples I've seen lately is RU-vid's treatment of Ann Reardon. She made a video explaining why a popular "life hack" (fractal wood burning) was incredibly dangerous and potentially fatal, and they took down her video for promoting dangerous activities. Meanwhile, all the people she showed in her video who actually did the dangerous project and tell you how to do it still have their videos up. She managed to get the video back up but it lost all the previous views and comments, she had to beg people to share it.

Yet they can do nothing about bot accounts commenting the same spam 400 times per minute, on every comment on the video. There was a guy on Twitch that made a code live on stream that went through his follows and banned all the ones that were bots, simply by running a script "contains these words followed by this many numbers." It removed over 20,000. These seem like incredibly easy fixes, it baffles me that it's still a thing across the largest platforms in the world.

The “age-restricting” that RU-vid does is ridiculous. This has also happened to another creator where they labeled his video “made for kids”. It isn’t made for kids. It’s a video game rated T for Teen and is not for General Audiences. RU-vid will do nothing for this creator. They just keep coming back to the same “conclusion”. It’s absolutely wrong.

I mean, what did you expect when you signed up for a website that offered free unlimited hosting space? The second I see a website offering something so ludicrous, the bells in my head go off. Add to that the fact that RU-vid not only offers unlimited hosting space for free, but it also offers sponsorship and promotion for free. Any website that offers so many expensive things for free is gonna have some strings attached, that's just common sense. It's so silly how kids feel so entitled to being handed an easy career in entertainment. If you don't want RU-vid making judgments about how age-appropriate your content is, then what you should do is actually pay for your hosting space and then you won't have to deal with somebody else trying desperately to protect their asses, because offering free hosting space to a nigh-infinite number of people carries with it a bunch of legal fears. If RU-vid just let everybody do whatever tf they wanted with their platform, the people running RU-vid would be in jail. They have to do things to protect themselves, and it's not easy monitoring literally billions of videos. This is what you get when you go with a free service making unreasonably extravagant promises (unlimited hosting space, promotion, and sponsorship all free of charge). If you want something better, well, hey, you get what you pay for my dude.

I don't understand the reasoning behind the vagueness-- they're definitely using automated review, it's not hard to just add automation that flags the section in question and lets you know what's wrong with it. Do they deliberately WANT to keep it vague so that nobody's able to look too closely at their policies/procedures? The only reason I see behind that is for them to be able to flag things arbitrarily.

To me it seems like a strategy to avoid accountability- blaming the amorphous seemingly random algorithm is easier than actually moderating/setting hard bans on types of content. @rwolfheart6580

Sounds like it's finally time for people to stop expecting a free paycheck from RU-vid and go back to hosting their own content like things were a little over a decade ago. Things were so much better that way. We didn't have to listen to RU-vidrs constantly complaining about their free paychecks -- instead they gave us *content* (believe it or not). There was none of this reaction bullsh#%, none of this "being upset that my video for adults was reasonably categorized as not appropriate for children," none of this purposefully making your videos look like sh%& to avoid copyright claims, none of this constant complaining about Fair Use, none of this insufferable sense of entitlement that those of you who grew up with RU-vid as a career option have... If you guys want to start moving away from the free ride RU-vid gives you and start hosting your own content on your own platform I will 100000000% follow you. Things were infinitely better when everybody had their own website instead of everybody uploading their videos to the same website and constantly complaining about how much they hate all the free money RU-vid gives them. Enough is enough. Us poor people are sick of hearing rich RU-vidrs complain about how RU-vid gives them free hosting space and free promotion and how much they hate it. Just make your own website then and pay for your own hosting space and promote your content on your own and then you can do whatever tf you want. This sense of entitlement you have where you expect RU-vid to bend over backward providing you with free hosting space entirely free from any sort of rules or regulations is just obnoxiously tone deaf. Life doesn't work that way. If you want your own rule-free hosting space, you're gonna have to do what the rest of us did and pay money for it. If you want a free hosting space that promotes your content and does all the hard work of getting you advertisers, then you're going to have to accept the fact that there are going to be some rules and regulations. I dunno how you expect RU-vid to hire people to personally watch every single video and come to a conclusion about how appropriate it's content is. That's ludicrous. If you want something like that, you're going to have to actually pay for your hosting space instead of just taking a free hand-out. When you take free hand-outs, you're obligated to abide by the terms of the person giving you the free hand-out. RU-vid bends over backward providing millions of people with not only free hosting space but also free promotion. AND they do the hard work of finding you a sponsor and hooking you up with advertisers. Get. The fuck. Over it. Or pay for your hosting space. I'm so sick of hearing RU-vidrs complain, and I miss the days when everybody had their own website instead of just social media accounts on other people's websites. Figure it out, my dude.

You say you're so sick of hearing creators complain about youtube but you mustnt be listening at all. How can you be so passionate about this when you fail to comprehend the logistics and specifications of the entire operation entirely. The only people here getting anything for free are you, me and everyone else that watches videos on this website. You're the entitled one demanding that creators shouldn't be concerned with receiving financial compensation for their work, or even recognition. Furthermore, healthy discussion regarding working conditions is for everyone's benefit- in any industry. You should be ashamed of your venomous and vengeful attitude

This is an incredibly stupid take, I hope you know that. “Stop working hard for your employer and expecting a FREE paycheck, they don’t owe you anything for your labor! Just open your own business instead, it’s so easy!!!” You know how stupid that is, right? If you think more ppl should host their own content and you’re sick of RU-vidrs then why are you spending time here commenting and watching videos? Shouldn’t you be watching some content on someone’s blog page?

@@maddieb.4282 I just saw a comment of theirs from another video. They are extremely dismissive and completely cucked with some weird Boomer mentality against content creators.

Not every youtuber is "rich". RU-vid is a job for a lot of people so they deserve a paycheck

So many corps dont have a direct line to customer service, but I have gotten issues resolved by @ing the company on Twitter. I literally made a new profile after closing my old one and it is purely for customer service 😂
