Yu gi oh needs chase arts of cards that are not the base rarity of said card. Pokémon remains the most affordable TCG out there because they have multiple rarities of cards that include an affordable base rarity.

I’d rather have a super at $20 - $25 dollars than an Ultra at $100 or a secret at $150. That said, that’s still too expensive. Tenpai was supposed to be a budget option, and it is compared to like last format where the top decks were $700+, but $60 for a playset of cardboard is stupid. There are too many dogshit speculators in the game (some of whom are popular yugitubers), and I hope they all go broke and go trade stocks instead. Konami only encourages it too because they don’t care about the players beyond how much money we’re willing to give them

TOSS I’d argue cause unless you were going to a YCS Or Championship, you didn’t need to go full tilt in the money department. You had tons of viable budget decks (two of which were 1/2 of the Top 4 Decks, Orcust and Salad), and those budget decks had budget options as well.

I fail to understand why Lightsworn Dragonling is a $17 ultra and there are good ultras in the set worth $1.
@XLuxtra
@XLuxtra 3 месяца назад
Exactly that. If cards in the set dont sell. Vendors wont open much. Aka less cards in the circulation. So the cards come at a premium. Also...there really aint many good cards in the set that are not exactly teh ones that are super high. Like Nightmare Throne or the Lightsworn dragon.
@sallas09
@sallas09 3 месяца назад
It's a high-rarity support piece for a famous archetype with a huge history and a very excitable playerbase, that also makes it playable in the modern day. It's also a mandatory 3-of if you want to play the deck, whereas Minerva, another UR for the deck, is a card you only need 1 of. Maybe 2 if you respect Kashtira Unicorn or want to experiment with Diviner of the Herald shenanigans.
@four-en-tee

Honestly, i think the sets good. Its just that its not game warpingly busted, the cards in this set aren't anywhere near as good as Fiendsmith or the Yubel contact fusion will be. Although, I will say that i've had a lot of fun with the new Shining Sarc stuff in Gold Pride PUNK. Being able to get access to a searchable spell that negates Nibiru, a monster thats Dark Hole + Heavy Storm on a body, and a searchable spell negater is very nice. Plus i can make Dawn Dragster in my deck list. So all of that on top of the normal GP PUNK stuff is amazing. Plus this deck has, like, 3 different ways to draw a lot of cards. I think some cards in this will maybe raise in price once we get Infinite Forbidden, but for rn, most the good stuff in this atm are pretty budget so its hurting vendors in the short-term.

Just gives me more reason to stay at Pokémon. Konami and the secondary market is never gonna change. And I wouldn’t be surprised if this deck is killed very quickly because everything is low rarity. But the $20+ super is unjustifiable to me. Sure it’s “cheap” by Yugioh standards but in Pokémon this rarity happens. Among other reasons for me not to play Yugioh. I just think it’s the same thing over and over and another secret dominated deck will pop up and be $1000 again and it’ll just be the same situation. I’m not simply playing cards for 6 just for them to get banned.

It sucks that Paidra is just rising in price (and probably short printed) and Trident Dragion is still overpriced at $100, but it's still not that bad considering everything else is super cheap. You can still play a solid tenpai deck without Dragion or S:P for like $200 to $300 assuming you are buying everything from scratch. Which honestly, doesn't sound that bad when you still can't buy a playset of Diabellstar and Wanted for that price.

This isn't a "Yu-Gi-Oh!" problem. This is a TCG problem. The same problem that has been plaguing us for decades. Upper Deck, the western distributor side of Konami has the authority to rarity-lock cards and short-print them, inflating prices to stratospheric proportions. It's been this way for two decades. But nothing changes because our Upper Deck know they can subsist on the whales of the industry like game stores to buy their product en mass and resell the singles to the most dedicated, high-level players. This leaves the budget players to compete with rogue-tier strategies without expensive staples that can decide games based on who has a deeper pocket. In the OCG, each card with a high-rarity printing also has a lower-rarity printing, making them more accessible. TCG also uses worse cardboard than OCG SPECIFICALLY so that we can't proxy expensive TCG cards with their much less expensive, OCG counterpart. Upper Deck have done nothing but ruin the TCG for the mass majority of players since it acquired rights to distribute in the West in 2002. They are without a doubt the worst company in the industry and they deserve far more hate.

I have money but I don't want to spend 60$ for a playset, if I can do so much more with it. I can buy gold for 60$, not much but it will always keep it's value unlike our current favorite meta defining piece of cardboard that can and will have it's value destroyed by a banlist/reprints. Guess I'll just enjoy tenpai digitally, at least I won't have to borrow a friends trident dragion online 😂😂😂

Well, they could've made tenpai ultra/secret so every card could be 20$+. People just can't be happy about anything lol. They printed a deck you could build for less than $100 and bring to a ycs. Side note is they just need to make every card in the set a common, then make the obviously good cards ultras and secrets... People like shiney things, so they'll still want them.

Weird to complain about card prices when the person who makes the cards doesn't sell them. They just sell slot machines that have a chance to give you the card Like I've actually spent a lot on tabletop games recently and none of what I got was random. I got Etherfield, Nemesis, Flamecraft and all the packogame games. All of which are fun profitable table top games, none of which have a gambling involved with their purchase.

@gabrielsalahi3656

Honestly, I’ll almost always defend Konami’s first print of cards. Konami DOESNT dictate the price of cards. They don’t know how much a new deck will impact the meta and therefore how expensive it will be They also have no way of knowing how much impact a “possible new staple” will have until after the set has already been released and the prices of the card set If individual cards are expensive in a set, if it’s their first time ever being printed, that’s at no fault of Konami. How are you even supposed to blame them for not perfectly predicating the meta and how much we will resell these cards for when we don’t even know half the time ourselves Now what we can blame them for is REPRINTS. While they may not know how much a new card will be, once it’s on the market they should be perfectly capable of seeing that $100 for a single card is too extreme and they should just reprint it in the next (or more reasonably the next next) set And idk why they do, it would make them MORE money. Since it suddenly gives more incentive to actually buy that set, not just for the new cards but for the ACTUALLY GOOD reprints
@PyckledNyk
@PyckledNyk 3 месяца назад
We can agree to disagree about your first point, but I absolutely agree that they should have reprinted Trident Dragion. The fact that it was acknowledged even in official correspondence how rare that card is makes me think Konami does know, they just don’t give a shit

Card is good? Everyone wants, everyone buys. Everyone buys, more cards are bought off the market. Less supply? Still more demand? More price to compensate. Everyone just wants to be mad that out of the ENTIRE core you have 2 supers. Of the 3 mains deck dragons, 2 of those are played at 3. Of those 2 that are played at 3, one of those is super. That’s ALL you gotta worry about. If we were looking at a full secret-ultra core, they wouldn’t be as rabid about the pricing. Why? This was seen as a budget option. Low skill demand type of deck. Attracts less competitive players. Less competitive players are not willing to spend to compete in this game. Not even for the price of $20 supers and a $100 secret. The rest of the card being bulk or staples they already own. Cope and seethe.
