What I like about this duel is that, contrary to the popular meme about Yugioh and other trading card animes, the protagonist didn't win the day with some never-before seen card specifically useful for this scenario and then never seen again. In later Yugioh series, and even in different parts of this one, that's precisely what would have happened, especially this late in the season. Instead, all the combo pieces are cards we've seen before, so Yugi's comeback feels understandable, even "realistic." Yes, he topdecked Monster Reborn, but that was also the last card in his deck, so really, it shouldn't even have been a surprise to him that he drew it.
TopDecking in a certain scenario is not cheating, if that's what you're impliying. I hate people like that in the playerbase, we don't need more of it though. For everything else Yes, you're correct. This is an example that YGO has real strategy against brokeness. The Castle i nerfed ir, and Yugi beated it with cards that are pre 2010
"But Yugi only has one monster. He can't replicate what Kaiba did. My bro will win." "Which is why I'll give my Dark Magician multiple attacks." "Goddamnit."
I hope one day we see YuGiOh Abridged return and make it this far. This situation would be perfect. "Should we restart the duel so everything is fair?" "Nah, I want to put my flex into overdrive and win with literally my last card."
Just watched it last night in better translation version. And gotta say one of the best duel in the series and I almost cried in the end of duel. And wow that castle magic card is like Orichalcos that can never be destroyed by a magic or trap card 😳
@@asianpersuasion4901 in the anime, the castle wasn't even a playable card, just a special gift-only card (which irl are banned). Zeigfield added card effects and protection when he hacked into Kaibacorp. Though Orichalcos was probably a similar story, but I can say evil magic and call it a day.
@@briansilva3344 yup, it had effects on its own, but the more broken abilities were hacked onto it. the very first line of text on the card says, that YOU have to mill half the cards in YOUR deck, to maintain it, and the last line of text on the card says, that the opponent has to pay the cost instead. so the cost was supposed to be paid by the controller, but ziegfried didnt want that, but he couldnt erase what was already written, so he had to add something in the end, even though it looks clunky as heck when you read it.
Man when diffusion wave motion is introduce in battle city its effect is OP AF back then and i love that card when u have a solid spellcaster type monster
This arc reminds me that a GOAT Deck is - refreshingly enough - not objectivelly the best for GOAT format... there was also Rebeca's StallDragonLifeBurn thing as well. I love watching alternatives against PopOppinion Bold Claims in YGO. Is like it reckindless your passion for the game though
I know using the golden castle card is cheating for many reasons but Leon would actually defeate yugi with it if he didn't waste his mystical space typhoon card, trying to destroy his own Golden castle. Yugi would need each one of his spell and trap cards he used in the end to win and if Leon was destroying one of them he would be the winner.
The best thing about this anime is the characters screaming one action and then something completely different happens. Like when they said yugi had only 1 card left but then he had 4 in the hand + 2 on the board lmao
necromancy and diffusion wave motion indeed look like they were meant to be played together, but even though he used both cards ever since the battle city finals, this is the only time, he actually used that combo. against kaiba, he used necromancy to revive a bunch of monsters, so slifers second mouth could instantly destroy them, to weaken obelisk, and in the end, he uses diffusion wave motion to allow dark paladin to attack all the bewds. in the orichalcos arc, he used diffusion wave motion agains gurimos army of warriors, and later forced raphael to activate necromancy with hand control, to fill his field. and now he finally combined the two cards for a winning combo, but never uses it again for the rest of the series...
Emergency is a quick play spell card. Where monster reborn is a normal spell card. Quick play out speeds normal making its effect go off before monster reborn. Reborn would be offered before its effect would activate.
ZF: you pay golden castle of Stromberg now Yugi! Yugi: I'm afraid I can't do that... ZF: You must! Why can't you pay?! (Yugi holds up duel disk with one card in deck) Yugi: CUZ IM BROKE NIGGA!!!!
The translations used for some of the dialog isn't very good. There are a number of errors, but calling Dark Magician "Black Evil Girl" is easily the worst one
I hate YGO brokeness as much as the next guy, BUT, i actually Love when anime cards become suprisingly usefull irl meta, rather than just being nostalgia in a paper. Reason why i'm not mad a fusion made from Joey and Yugi iconic cards being one of the most thought cards to beat current meta. It deserves to be banned yes, but i'm usually glad cards that remind me of the animes become top tier irl. Anyways, Hertrud and the Castle. One being good for Rank 8 plays and the other, an interesting field spell which brings strategy to the table.
@@Robi2009 Leon summoned that monster in Attack mode. Literally a few seconds later 0:52, the card can be seen in Attack Mode on the duel disk. Leon never summoned that monster in defense mode. You really need to either learn Japanese or accept that there is a thing called "Terrible subtitles". If it wasn't obvious that these subtitles were wrong, they literally failed to properly name the majority of the monsters as well as using "invoke" instead of "summon".
@@insidious6068 Hey Poindexter. Ever heard of humor? It's where you play along with or point out an absurd idea even though there's an obvious explanation for it, because it's fun to do so. It's not fun to insist we "learn Japanese" and be staunchly logical about everything when we're just here to laugh. Okay? Lighten up.
Its final moves like that which pisses me off in the video game when I am up by 8000 and the CPU is down to 100 and one card causes me to lose the duel!
What the hell is with these fairy tail story people and fashion models as monsters?! This is seriously getting me out of the loop and looking straight at the monsters this girl carries.
Ok so here’s my confusion, Stronberg says that the opponent has to discard half his deck to keep it on the field, sooooo why did Yugi comply? Couldn’t he just say “nah bro I ain’t doing that” and boom the castle is destroyed?
No, it is a mandatory effect. The real card in the tcg requires you to banish the top 10 cards of your deck each turn to keep it up, you don't get a choice either.
@@wolflord9455 Here is the actual text: Once per turn, during your Standby Phase, you must banish 10 cards from the top of your Deck face-down (this is not optional), or this card is destroyed So if you have 10 or more cards in your deck still you MUST banish 10 each turn. There is no choice or refusal. Online emulaters dont give you an option to, it does it automatically. If you have less then 10 the card is destroyed. The card is mainly used in gren maju decks that try to banish as many of thier cards as possible to summon a high attack gren maju and attack winning you the game.
Zigfried hack into kaiba's corp dueling system and programm the card to automoaticlly discard half of the opponent deck into gravyard. Yugi maybe hold magic but he can't beat programming
@@UUSER142 ok but that doesn’t answer my question, it’s not a video game, it’s a physical deck, Yugi can just say “no I’m not going to pay that cost” and boom the castle is destroyed
Invokes 4 monsters in offense mode Monsters: *Kneeling in defense mode* Dark/Black Magician (Evil Girl): "Well, I am OFFENDED, time to S P R E A D some W A V E S" Honestly, how can you not joke with this bad translation
I want to duel yugi with the deck i have with my broken ass shit anime cards so bad i can beat him i promise please konami hire me to duel yugi and win i want to win against yugi so bad
