You're great! You actually got an interview with the master. Loved it. Merci beaucoup. But isn't it kind of sad, the master's favorite part has not been made yet? It's one my biggest wishes for my life to see the story of Shenmue finished in a game. I'd even choose it over seeing my country win the World Cup. When Shenmue 2 came out, I was 16. Until today I have not forgotten about Shenmue and I never will.

*sniff* This interview was rather... Beautiful. Man I still remember the days when I played Shenmue I & II on the Dreamcast with my bro. This Shemue game continues to be very special to many fans and I'd like to congratulate Kenji Seang for conducting and compiling such a wonderful tribute of an interview. Thank you so kindly for reliving my memories of Shemue and also for giving me insight that there is a possibility of a future game from the series. *thumbs up*

Thank you for the interview. It's been 10 years since I beat Shenmue 2 and I'm patiently waiting for the release of Shenmue 3. There's hope.

This video made me cry at the part where Yu Suzuki said that his favorite part of the series is yet to come. It makes me so sad that I may never get to see the best part of the Shenmue saga. Thank you for making this video. I wish that we will get Shenmue 3 on the PS3 or PS4.

I don't even want it to end! I just want to continue taking Ryo through his adventures. The growth of his character emotionally and in many other ways tears this game apart from all other games.

Great interview asked a lot of questions that didn't even come to my mind, I recently got a VGA box hooked up to my 25" monitor so I've been replaying Shenmue and discovering what I fell in love again 10 years ago.

I've Seen this like 5 ties already and I will still watch it, I just like watching Yu, specially at the start, reminds me of how my family back in China...

Please make shenmue 3. There's so much that needs to be known. Would buy 1st day. This series will always have a special place in my heart.

This made me started to get teary eyed....I miss Shenmue so much....I really hope it goes keep going! Please SEGA, allow him to make Shenmue III....give hope to us!

I remember when I played Shenmue on the Dreamcast. I finished the whole game, one of the few games I've ever played that really had me immersed in that world. Never got a chance to play the 2nd one but if 3 comes out, I'm pre-ordering it ASAP!

I love Yu Suzuki. I don't care how he comes out with shenmue 3, book,anime,manga,video game, graphic novel, or movie. I want to see the end of his brilliant work O_O!

This just made me want Shenmue 3 even more. Its like Yu Suzuki is just like us. Shenmue fans need to rise up and write thousands of letters to Sega and Maybe they will make it.

There is still some hope that Shenmue 3 will come someday. Not too much hope maybe, but clearly it's not impossible.

This breaks my heart. You can see Yu Suzuki has such passion for his creation, and wants to finish it so badly. SEGA, help him! I swear, this game will sell millions. Especially if you released a Shenmue 1+2+3 Trilogy Edition.

Thank you all for your very enthusiastic concerns, sincerely ! I just want to precise one thing, I am not sure that when Yu Suzuki said : "SEGAから僕たちがライセンスを受けることができます" he actually means that his team can BUY the license from SEGA. I think it's more like : he can USE the license (like he has done with Shenmue Gai and Sunsoft. NB: Shenmue Gai which ended few days ago but don't forget that Yu Suzuki is currently thinking to pursue the game on smartphone -he said that in videoxoc's TGS interview-).

i lost my copies of shenmue 1 and 2 and just bought them off ebay..i CANT wait to play them again, these are my favorite games of all time and i think i would literally piss myself if shenmue 3 was finally made. i cant wait to go ask people "do you know where sailors hang out" LONG LIVE SHENMUE!!!!!!

HD Remake the original 2, let that sell in a bundle and let the people that didn't get to experience it play it through... then release the 3rd one... i've spent days on the first 2... soft spot in my heart for these games.

There is finally some real hope now. To sum things up if Yu Suzuki can somehow acquire those rights we CAN see a Shenmue 3 , even without Sega's help. This is huge news in he way that he is talking on the subject, it shows a serious intent. By talking about trying to obtain the rights Suzuki is giving Sega an ultimatum , help me make it or i go to another developer, that's what i think anyway. First bit of really good news in a while, we have to aim at getting the HD ports first though!

Yu Suzuki is a genius, Shenmue games are so good, probably the bests games ever made... Shenmue 3 has to come out someday, it just has to... I can't die with out kwon the end of Ryo adventure O.O!

not really here are the three definitions of underrated.... 1.underrated cooler than most people think. 2.underrated Something or someone not well known by the mass public but of high quality. 3.underrated Something or someone that deserves much more respect than people will allow. all of this describes Shenmue....

i was 16 when this game captivated me,......im 27 now, and have all but given up on seeing a new one. good god, why not, WHY Why not Mr. Suzuki?

Great interview, I'd give it until 2015, if there is no word of Shenmue 3 by then, then it's done for sadly...But I'd still like to see the rest of the story go into a novel or something. If Suzuki can develop an amazing game, then I'm pretty sure he can write a novel that is equally as entrancing, possibly even win some awards!

The harsh reality is that Shenmue went in a very bold and different route for gaming, and it just simply didn't garner a huge crowd BECAUSE it stepped away from how we usually see video games. COD continues to be a big hit because it's easy to learn, easy to make, and it continues to be popular.

very nice interview... I don't know if Yu Sazuki really has any serious plans to try and revive the series, or is he just having fun with the interview, and the appreciation knowing there is a small but hardcore following of his games and story. I hope he's not playing with us though! Of course we as fans take this info very seriously :)

Oh man, Shenmue has to be completed within my lifetime! If I ever became a billionaire I would fund all of the project, so Sega wouldn't lose any money or take any risk.

We´ll never see shenmue III , I lost the hope years ago , and with this economic crisis I think is impossible . I hope I´m wrong.

@EScrimson I know exactly why I liked Shenmue. It was a hybrid sandbox/martial arts fighting game. It kickstarted the sandbox games we know and love today. While I can't say the world was truly living, it was the first game that decided to give everyone daily routines and some semblance of a living world. If S3 were to be made, I'd want to see more of this. To see more people living their lives. To put more coins in an arcade. And above all, to kick the shit out of some more sailors!

it' simple as a couple comments have said the same thing, release Shenmue 1 & 2 HD Collection to re encourage the fans and make some strides to recouping the money it took to make the games, then release Shenmue 3! In this generation, it's at the point it would generate tons of money, ESPECIALLY if it's marketed well, fan demand alone would grant you a good couple millions

Gotta admit, it's pretty ballsy of Kenji Seang to do a face-to-face interview. Great work! But I have to agree: there are so many unanswered questions... For example, what console will it be released on? How long until they pick up the project again? (the eternal question =_=) Whatever happened to Nozomi? (can't help caring; Ryo WAS her first love afterall) And...well, this is embarassing, but did Ren and Joy have a "thing" XD? And what's her relationship with Guizhang? ...

this is so interesting. the person with iwao on the photo will become a vital character in shenmue 3. that means it can't be lan di's father since he's dead. or he meats more figuratively that the person, eventhough he's dead will become an all important story element in shenmue 3. what do you think?

If Shenmue 3 does eventually get release I'll probably get the first two games first cause I haven't actually got to play them yet...

Yu Suzuki has been committed to wanting Shenmue III developed for years. The problem is the budget. I wouldn't mind if a first party company bought exclusivity rights to fund the game's development.

Seems like there is better things yet to come later on in the story

Zhu Yuanda tells him that Lan Di killed Iwao for the same reason Ryo wants to kill Lan Di; revenge. Zhu urges him to find out why Lan Di killed his father. In Guilin, with Shen Hua, Ryo is finally able to pause and think, and consider things he had ignored in his pursuit of Lan Di. Also, had Lan Di not got on that helicopter, he would likely have killed Ryo, as Xiuying said, "if I were Lan Di, you would be dead". If Ryo can hold his own against LD, he might be able to get answers from him.

@supersonic83 For me, it isnt that the name SEGA has to be attached, but people forget that Yu Suzuki wasn't the only person that made Shenmue great. The development team was big and had a lot of AM2/AM3 love.
