I think she was using her dreams to escape her suicidal depression... but once she was done with them, she knew she could not continue to live like this and wanted to end the nightmare of waking life forever
i just love how the melody keeps repeating and repeating with no drop or end. it's like depression, it never changes and never ends. it's almost torturing
Bro, i understand You message, me also have a serius depression sorry for mi orthography my mother tongue is not English but I want to give you moral support from a distance
Actually my own Theory is that she was dreaming all the time. And she just fell of her bed... So she woke up from all that torment and she was finally able to leave her room.
Eva Gima I'm thinking of making a 3d version of yume nikki and putting in another ending where she leaves her room and makes a friend and it would be the blonde girl and the final scene being them walking off into the distance with the title music playing
YuuN *SPOILER ALLERT!!!!!!* *THIS IS REALLY A LONG COMMENT!!* and mine is that she was in coma and she dreamed all the time , the end of the game she just died on real life . How i can prove it? Shes a kid /girl , so why she dont have any parents? Why did she dont go school? When at the end you look the mirror there is the darkness, is that the most important part that can say thst she dreamed? I think yes, but why she dreamed all this horror? Before she had a problem, she wanted to play all the day on the computer and dont hang out. Her games hurts her brain and makes her get crazy and get coma. Thats my theory guys like if u agree with me!
A scary game keeps you up at night, afraid that something might jump you. A Horror game keeps you up at night, trying to cope with what you just saw. Yume Nikki keeps you up at night, thinking.
That's exactly what I mean. When I first played Yume Nikki, the sights I saw kept me up all night (And I didn't even encounter that many creepy moments!). I was just trying to comprehend everything, to make sense of it, to figure out what kind of person Madotsuki is, what the ending means, all that. It's just so vague that anyone can come up with their own interpretation, and I love it for that.
.flow had a weird blend of both disturbing visuals as well as thought provoking stuff. They even mesh together sometimes; stuff that gives off disturbing afterthoughts on just the context rather than what you're actually seeing. I still get chills from the heart monitor room.
The worst part (or arguably the best, because it was totally intentional) is that most players never thought that the game would end like this, they were caught off guard, it was a surprise to them even though most clues about Madotsuki's suicidal tendencies were always there, in their dreams, hidden in symbolisms and allegories but open for everyone to see, and yet people never realized that that was the meaning of it until the very end, when it was too late. This mirrors a typical example of a suicide case in real life, where people have all the signs in front of their eyes, and yet they still don't act on time because they didn't realize what they all meant at that point. And once you know how it ends, what can you do? You cannot do anything to save her because she already jumped off the balcony, you are just a spectator and the only thing you can do is guess why she did it based on her dream diary, Madotsuki means "window", after all. Yume Nikki means "dream diary", and in the game you save your progress through writing on your diary, which to me implies that the idea of the game is to try to decipher her reasons as a third party who is only reading her cryptic diary entries. This is not a game; this is art at its highest expression. R.I.P Madotsuki.
It's such a deep and complex game it isn't a surprise anymore that Toby Fox and Dan Salvato took some inspiration from it... I still want to know what happened to her to jump off the balcony Maybe I need to replay it, I feel like I have to despite beating it only month ago... what do you think?
@@takatsukiban4195 I think the point of the game is that: guessing why she did it, it's like analizing a painting; but I don't think there is a definitive answer or at least I don't think kikiyama intended one. I think Yume Nikki it's amazing in that, just like the best works of art ever written like Don Quixote for example, there are endless valid interpretations and each one is more rich than the last. So yeah, coming up with new theories is the best way to experience the game IMO.
@@awindows7user872 Well, I don't know... It doesn't seem to be the only possibility I heard that it's all just a dream and she can be in a maniacs hospital... I just wish to know the exact one... although that would ruin the experience...
I dont think madotsuki hated the dream world. I think that she loved it but once there was nothing left to do there, she had no place else to go so she jumped
I love how everyone makes their own conclusions to Yume Nikki since the author did not even make any plot to it. Even the picture above is a bias. Madotsuki's eyes are always closed.
I don't think that the author doesn't care. There's probably a plot there somewhere in the story that the author didn't give us. It's because the game is well made and it probably took a lot of time to built.
* tries not to cry seeing her fall while hearing the music and reading the comments. * ... * looks up to see Madostukis face and sees her crying * ......... * single tear drops down face *
@@Dalmarty_Lma0 it didnt make me cry but it made me sad for an entire day or more, i downloaded yume nikki and whenever i finish the game i'd just refuse to let her jump
@@Dalmarty_Lma0 its kind of a good thing that the game lets you interpret or think of what happens in the end for yourself since it has no plot whatsoever, probably meant to be theorized or made up by your mind which prevents overload of sadness through the end
Yume Nikki is one confusing game, and i love it just for that reason. This confusion makes me replay this game again and again hoping that i will finally find an answers to all my questions. And even after completing it thrice, beating Yume Nikki 3D and it's DLC. I still didn't found my answers, but i don't mind, i'm sure i will fully understand the meaning of this game eventually. Even if at first glance this might seem like a tragic ending, i think it is in fact a happy one, because after all these horrors Madotsuki had to go through, she can finally rest in peace.
Wow. Are you saying suicide makes for a happy ending? Like, killing yourself is a solution for everything? Yume Nikki may have happiness as part of it's theme, but the ending is tragic no matter the angle you take it from. Also, Yume Nikki 3d is a fan made game, and I don't think the term DLC applies to anything freeware.
Есть теория,что ее держал в квартире насильник(много вещей в игре намекают на изнасилование).Возможно в снах она хотела найти друзей,но реальность вторгалась в сны...(извините,что на чужом языке)
What you guys can't understand it's that yumi nikki was geniusly planned. Nobody knows the true story so that generates discussion, that doesn't mean that the autor doesn't care about the game, he cares so much that he already was seing this happen, this game is so macabre and unrealistic that makes people think. He/She don't saying nothing more tham that yume nikki was based on his/her dreams makes everyone speculate about the game, the autor don't saying nothing about the game makes the game ALIVE.
[PT] Neo Blue I continue to wonder how this game attracts so many people, and you may have shed some light on that. I think some of the best fiction has ambiguity, and invites theory and discussion.
zevex747 I believe that attracts so many people because it's one of the best physicological horror games out there and it gives us a fear so old has our existance, the fear of the unknown! ;) PS: I'm Neo Blue I'm just on my english account right now.
zevex747 Lovecraftian Mythos is entirelly based on that that's why there are so many people discussing it, no one knows or can even confirm a lot of creatures that exist on lovecraftian mythology! PS: Cthulu says "hi"
zevex747 By the way, fun fact: The creator of yumme nikki replayed to a fan on a japanese community saying that he was going to continue yumme nikki but very slowlly, it has been 4 years since then and he is considered has being missing from internet there are even some theories out there analysing his way of replying that show how he/she implied to kill himself
I want to play the game someday. When people play it, it feels like they're a part of the game, and when the ending comes, they feel genuinely heartbroken. You don't see many people expressing their emotions nowadays, which really sucks.
Personally, I am not excited for the 3d remake. The original had such a flowing storyline, and was created with all the love of one man. That can never be redone with a corporate company. This game will be in my heart forever
I guess Kikiyama is not a one man but a group, bcause the one who works with him from playism who releases the steam version refers Kikiyama as 'them', idk tho if its true or not, but yeah, the game will be in everyone's heart who have played it forever,
They probably had tunnel vision and memory flashback while they are currently falling and felt time is moving a bit slow while having those flashback, idk if they felt nostalgic but that happen
Well, he havent posted any other game, but if you know japanese you can send him an email. Even in the year that the game was released he took time to awnser the emails so dont get too confident.
She couldn't take it anymore, she assumed ending it all was the way to go. As if her mind was over flowed with her nightmares, she was drove into insanity, and she just got tired of it, she probably didn't have a second thought until she hit the pavement on that sidewalk.
I have a new theory~: Maybe Poniko, Masada, Monoko etc. were created by Madotsuki's branin to replace her deceased family. A trauma made her stay inside her fantasy and she couldn't get back into the reality, but later she noticed and wanted back so she thought the only way to get back was 'leaving' the fantasy world by dying, but she did also jump in reality so she died in her fantasy world and in reality.
I have a theory that mafurako (the girl who wears a hat and a scarf and with her fringe covering her eyes) was her twin sister who did not know why her elder sister did that to herself and poniko might be a bestie who once betrayed her (Uboa may represent betrayal) ,torigins represents the bullies at school in real life, the effect giving NPCs may represent the teachers at school, number world represents school, the other NPCs represents the classmates, monoko is her friend, monoe is her friend as well, and Masada may represent her music teacher
My God! I've been listening to this for so long. At first I thought I heard a bass at the background along something shaking, later a chime, and now voices! I might be going insane @_@
Madotsuki had no hesitation to do anything, except go outside. Even when jumping she had no regrets. I feel like these dreams were something that she wanted to figure out, wanted to explore. That kept her occupied. Though when there was nothing left, she jumped to not have to deal with "nothing" anymore. Even though she's fictional and shows no real emotion, I feel for Madotsuki.
This song is so peaceful yet so mournful at the same time. It makes Madotsuki's fate even more depressing... :'c RIP Maddie we will never forget you. This game changed what I thought about my past actions. I'll admit that I tried to end my life multiple times, but after witnessing what she did in the end left me petrified and confused. A single tear ran down my eye as this tune materialized with the credits after. The game's simple yes, but to me by achieving all the effects it felt like I knew Madotsuki all my life. Its like losing a sister. When she jumped it made me so sad and angry! After all I've done to finish the game what I got for an ending was something absolutely no one should ever do. If I ever succeeded I know how my family, friends, and people around me would react to that. I finally understand. Suicide is not to be taken lightly, it should be the LAST resort to go to when out of hope. If there's anyone out there contemplating suicide please keep my message in mind. I'll be so very sad if you die, and I don't even know you! Please get help! There IS HOPE!!!
Yume Nikki has always had a huge impact on me and my life. maybe because i relate to Madotsuki somewhat. but even after all those years of playing this game n such, this song never fails to give me shivers every time i hear it
this song has a very strange feeling, a mixture of nostalgia, a feeling of farewell, that something has come to an end, a little sad, and that makes it very good, and I always come back here to listen to it again.
Know this. One Madotsuki may be gone, but there are millions and millions and millions of Madotsukis out there, all living that same depressive experience, chosen by what we think and say and do. We are not alone in this world. We are part of one body. We are all responsible for each other. And I tell you that the time will eventually come once more that, if man will not learn that lesson, then he will be taught it... In fire... and blood... and anguish!
It's beautiful. I like sad endings and it fits Yume Nikki so well. I dont quite understand some people's need for making up comforting good ends. Also I really like the big city background here. It adds to the Madotsuki's poetical loneliness, It is generally the fact that some people just feel loneliest when surrounded by thousand of anonymous people.
Yume nikki was meant to be creepy though And the indie games you're talking about are probably yume nikki, omori, undertale, maybe earthbound and these were meant to be creepy in some places
Creo que es una sola persona, aunque realmente ni siquiera sabemos su género o si es un verdadero japonés. Supongo que mejor así, solo nos centramos en su obra y no en su persona
i love how Kikiyama dissappeared, transformed the game into a sort of creepypasta, if he actually would have given an explanation to the ending i doubt Yume Nikki would have been as popular as it was for a while
... out of all the theories I've heard so far, this one is by far my favorite. To be honest, I always thought it was something to that effect; when she jumped off that balcony, she wasn't killing herself, she was finally waking up. Though... that may just be wishful thinking on my part.
Im sad forever This possibly the shortest most emotional, truly beautiful and very sad track.. Wish I could give Mado a hug.. Even tho the game doesnt have Mado's background nor story explained, I still feel so relatable to her ;'(((
Im so sorry for you madotsuki...I hope you will have more dreams...but those, beautyfull and with so many friends all for you... Your story makes me think... R.I.P. Madotsuki, remember that we all Love you from ours hearts...
I know nothing about yume nikki. I only know the suicide thing. Hearing this song and reading the comments just made me cry. Thinking that there are many people going through something hard; wanting to end their lives is just heartbreaking..
Yume Nikki makes me want to make something in inspiration of it, but I can't. The unique aesthetic can't be so easily recreated. It really is a special work of art
This song make me feel "end of the line" most effectively. Madotsuki throws herself out, the screen gradually being dark, and show me red bloodstain but theres no body After this, this song come out to my headphones then my feel become 20% questin, 40% embarrassment, 40% aftertaste. my best song
Once I had a dream, similar to FACE, it was some kind of evil-looking face (don't remember what color it was) that made me wake up in a jump with a loud, short noise, like the SHHH from the TV static. the disturbing thing is that I knew about FACE the next day. I'm still not sure if it was a coincidence or I saw the future
I can imagine, I've had similar dreams with similar sounds. Dreams are my favorite thing in life and honestly, there's a why to them. It's interesting to think about it.
@@celercka that's very interesting, and actually seeing a different you in the mirror is something that can happen in real life. Though the fact that you had a dream of it makes me curious, it might mean something deep in your mind. I believe you, you have zero reasons to lie here in the comments section. May I ask, what was one of your dreams that happened the next day?
@@celercka and random. Talking about family, in my dreams I always feel ignored by my family, and sometimes I dream they are like incredibly angry for some reason
@@naotemabacaxi7054 A secret event in the game, where you see, well, a thing that looks like a face, with some flashing effects. Check it out: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-g9-cebTMpVE.html
The beat hit so hard this ost with Madotsuki in the background falling and committing suicide just make me tear up without realizing and i kinda feel the same depression she feel being lonely in a city full of people sometimes when im on the balcony i hear this ost and i think of life and the good and bad things and there’s always a bright side in anything and just start to tear up again and think of what happens if I myself committed suicide but I’ll never know the answer of this question + don’t think im lonely i have friends i love life im full of faith and happy and maybe sometimes i feel lonely and sad and i hate this feeling so much but i git rid of it but not that easily Yume nikki is a special game that make think twice and that will be surprising but I didn’t play the game because I don’t have pc and I didn’t watch a gameplay just spoiled myself the ending and watched some theory’s i hope everyone have a nice day and god bless you...
I'm a huge fan of this game, it's just a confusing game where it has worlds and stuff, they are all open world, you can explore everything i mean everything in those worlds, my favourite world is snow world but the fact that madotsuki was suicidal just made me shocked, the ending was spoiled to me 2 times but i forgot about it when i got into the game, my question is why couldn't she open the door in real life and not in the dream life, i know she's depressed and suicidal, second question is where are her family? this game is just my favourite, i replay (beat) yume nikki over and over and over again repeatedly, this game makes my day and R.I.P madotsuki.
2019 and I still have too much depression this song ... I still remember that melancholy that I felt in 2009 playing this work of art I always get a tear...
I guess the ending is up to our interpretation. I believe that she's been paralysed with her nightmare that she hardly distinguish between reality and dream. In the end, she creeped out by both thus deciding to jump out from her balcony by mean that is only her salvation. Both situation (in rl & dream) is very depressing, I feel sorry for a little girl to went throught this ;__; Good night Mado, rest in peace..
I've noticed two things that raised questions from me about the ending and how I see it. In the ending we see a blood stain. Most likely where Madotsuki hit the ground. But where is her body? Corpses don't just disappear. And secondly we see those jellyfish things from the dream world. Why would those suddenly be in the waking world?
Well, Maybe Her Body Wasn't There Because Maybe An Ambulance Already Took Her Body To The Hospital. Some Say If You Speed Up The Ending Song, It Sounds Like An Ambulance. For Your Second Theory, I'm Afraid I Can Not Answer That. I'm Sorry.
By far one of the best tracks I've heard in any of games, simple, repetitive, and yet calming and beautiful, solemn and in a certain way it is also very creepy, if there's a way to describe all of this in a single word that would probably be "effective".
This melody is so beautiful yet depressing and I don't why I keep crying when I listen to this, it just has a kind of charm that just makes it a nice piece of music...
I haven’t played Yume Nikki, but I’ve seen gameplay and I can tell that it’s a tremendous piece of artwork that can convey real issues with people, the social anxiety and depression are a huge problem among teens this day and age, and suicide is a very controversial topic and can be a very real thing. I think that this game deals with those issues and puts them into a perspective that people who haven’t experienced them could understand. The music is sad and plays during the emotional scene when she jumps to her death, and the music captures the feeling and raw emotion of the scene. Whenever you hear the music, you will visualize her jumping to her death, again and again. The game does a good job of tackling issues such as depression, suicide, murder, rape. All can (supposedly) be seen in Madotsuki’s dreams. These are real issues that affect lots of people, and I think that the game does a good job because it doesn’t sugarcoat anything. If those issues don’t go away.. people die.
