You cannot blame your sons death on kids especially when one is having a psychotic episode…. He didn’t cause his death. He’s a dad who basically knew his son was doing drugs and was like oh don’t do that again well that’s not how drugs work. He was more worried about making money.

I had a similar situation, taking acid with a bunch of friends. 1 person freaked, fell onto a bong, grabbed the broken glass and sliced his neck open. We held his neck shut while the ambulance came. The rest of us never got any heat, but we could have all due to the actions of this individual. I empathize with the father's disbelief that it happened at all.

This film had a tremendous effect on what mental health issues can do to a persons career and the dark places that bi-poar disorder can make or break a person. I have bipolar disorder and know what the effects of this mental disorder can cause. It was a beautiful portrayal of an artist that had to reach his breaking point to find that it wasn't his fault what happened. Loved the film! Cheers to a great producer! @@persevere12 Im glad you highlighted that because the lines between bad choices and "Mental illness" is completely blurred and has now become a scapegoat for wreckless behavior. Starting from the top he was the typical teenager who did and experimented with typical drugs - OTC, weed etc. The first problem was how he was allowed to continue down this path of dark music knowing it only opens the doors of pandora's box as a young kid with no guidance from adults helping seperate the image of rap vs reality.. basically hanging with enablers. The second mistake became the high he got from the combination of unlimited access to drugs through the bandmates and mgmt and the high that is gained from the essence of fame and celebrity life seemingly making him feel some level of invincibility. Mental health is reserved for people who experience REAL PTSD in some form such as violent assaults, active and prior duty war personnel and even in some inner cities due to crime, as well as countries where cartel members dictate life and death in some instances in public view in broad daylight traumatizing those who wake up w it daily. The kid couldve stopped doing drugs at ANY point he wanted to but he became addicted like many others with a weak mind and easily persuaded and succumbed to his desires. Now a better example of mental abuse would be him being abused growing up, physically, mentally and sexually and he used music as an escape.. but from watching this doc it looks like he had a life ahead of him until he tried rapping.. it worked.. and like any other local user once you come into money you dont want to keep smoking that reggie... you wanna finally step up.. Personally i cant understand how anyone got so self absorbed into this sound ... but to each his own.. kids stay off drugs and stay in school.

During a very serious period of psychosis caused by heavy drug use & underlying mental health issues which became a symbiotic relationship which lasted 11 years out of the nearly 28 years I’ve been alive, during this spell of psychosis I came across this documentary late one night with being completely unfamiliar with Yung Lean and his work but after watching this documentary and listening to his work I started to look deeper into my own issues which could potentially be BPD and then began starting to understand myself more and more. I’m not fixed or even close to a place where I feel confident to say I’m no longer my own worst enemy but I am evolving an awareness that prevents me from having to go into those states of psychosis so I’d like to give my uttermost respect and appreciation to Jonatan, this documentary and his work for guiding me to the right path.

I don’t do RAP but I heard about the artist Yung Lean. So, I checked out his music. Yung does more than just RAP. He communicates in a realm that those who have been there or maybe are there in the present can identify with. It’s really crazy but I’m presently 67 years old and Lung’s words spoke to very difficult times in my life. It brought back memories that I thought I had put to rest. Clearly the lion was only sleeping. There are multi millions of young people who can resonate in his music. He is really fantastic 🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽

Watching this whole film this morning really made me self reflect on how much I can relate to Yung Lean.. I'm also a Recording Artist and Producer here in the states and I also have been down the dark path with alcoholism and consider myself an addict. I'll be 31 in 6 days and have been sober for almost 3 months now and that has a lot to do with my daughter being here temporarily in my custody and when Yung Lean talked about having to face his fears cause before he was numb to everything by using drugs and now able to feel those feelings before hitting the stage really hit home for me. Everyday I been battling with choosing not to use has really opened my eyes to how strong I actually am now and not bragging about my sobriety also as I feel that the moment you boast about being sober can also be a tipping point and can relapse soon after so I stay very content with my sobriety journey and I never felt more better.. Thank you to everyone that was involved in making this very intimate film and to Yung Lean for sharing his story it was soo beautiful.. 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿

Watching the drugs etc bring out the bad things was sad but should be seen as a cautionary tale... Ok what? Barron's dad is mad at 2 teenagers for his sons car accident that neither of the teenagers were in the car for? He said "they shouldn't have let him in the car/they should've taken his keys/made him take uber" etc. They were kids! Barron "owned" the record label and was in charge of these kids. Not the other way around. Barron chose to drive. The 2 boys stayed at the hotel... weren't even near Barron. So how is it even remotely their fault? I get dad is heartbroken but blaming them for his adult sons actions is so ridiculous.

Maybe yes, maybe no. When someone has addiction and mental health problems it's easy to play the game of "they were exploited, they were pressured", but oftentimes there's nothing to blame other than the diseases themselves. Not his fault, not anyone's fault, just something he ended up with. A lot of the people around him probably cope with similar issues.

@@matusgerbiark3622 anyone can make that choice easily but to take that and learn from it and come back from as far gone as he was is MUCH harder. Realistically he probably fantasized at the idea of those drugs and american culture and once he had access to them and money he experimented. the same way that if you looked at something curiously and suddenly had access to it you would experiment too.

my last comment was literally just a ramble about my life but let me get to the point. im reading through the comment section of that video and see that theres a comment that said smth abt how they really hoped a young boy from sweden would get addicted to drugs bc of the pressure he was suffering and such a young age (due to the recognition he was getting during his peak). im just reading more and more about what happened to him and now im here. 2 hours later, watched the whole thing and i just want to let lean know that i love him and his friends??? thank for being there for him and for giving him so much love and memories, although some may be very triggering ones. you’re all so strong and lean im so proud of you. im so sorry that society and life treated you the way it did and i hope you’re doing better now. i wish nothing but the best for you and i really and genuinely appreciate your existence. you literally paved the way for so many artists. the whole psychosis part really made me think about so much. im 14 and havent been through things you have but i relate to you in so many ways. i find your current aurora very warm and im so happy you changed for the better

I was Barron Machat's business partner, and was operating the record label set to release Warlord, when Barron was sacrificed. I was with Yung Lean, Drain Gang, Barron and Steven, in December 2014, months before Barron's demise. Barron was a casualty of Yung Lean's actions on April 8th, 2015, depictud but not detailed in this documentary. I have details on exactly how those events transpired. I will be broadcasted on 88.9 FM in Los Angeles within the next two weeks to explain. Follow me on twitter @edaanbrook for updates.

@@user-tp3qu5if3u it’s not that deep, lean was experiencing psychosis and extreme paranoia, wanted his hard drives and Barron was too fucked up to drive but did anyway. It was in a video that has since been deleted. I don’t see how that’s leans fault it’s just a circumstance of all around bad decisions and drug use. I just think the record label fueling the artist’s drug use is unprofessional
