he broke the 100 barrier in an official ISU competition at the games. he actually broke 100 a little while back before this but bc the competition wasn't sanctioned by the ISU, it couldn't count towards any world records.

What is a short program? Sorry I just knew about hanyu an hour ago and I'm completely clueless when it comes to this field.

@@cherrycheol3266 it's basically the program that happens before the free skate segment. It's usually about 2 minutes and 50 seconds long. Less than the length of an MV. Perhaps the length of an Mcountdown stage. Hence called short program

I think in the short program its is way more critical to skate clean and land all the required elements for scoring and 3A is a bigger risk since its harder.

He is doing ice show after ice show, has a youtube channel where he uploads his skating, has instagram and twitter and is basically revolutioning the world of pro skating with his 2h30 solo ice shows. This is so sweet! His first program I watched was the free for the Sochi Olympics but I saw it one year later, randomly searching on youtube because I remembered I loved watching skating as a kid on national tv. Even with some mistakes he had made, I was so captivated by his elegance and being clueless about figure skating I started watching the sport in general. I've been hooked ever since. At worlds 2017, I had only watched the short program and at the free I was at my first job, second day, working on Easter eve. My sister called me excited on the way home on the bus, not a figure skating fan, so I should have realised this was important. I was ready to tell her about the job, tired and sad beacuse I had missed the game and I thought he stood no chance after the sp and she goes "Yeah, yeah all right..Do you know who got it? Hanyu :p " I don't think I will ever forget this moment.
