Modding a gas car nets no return when you sell. A coworker of mine put $30K worth of mods on a Mustang Cobra. When he sold, he got book value. Only way to compete with these fast EVs is with heavy modifications which often voids warranty. Also tons of maintenance required to keep them running. You brought up money, not me.
@@lemongavine makes ton of senses. Even if you lose half, you essentially never have to pump gas, buy parts, or maintenance to continuously run 11s, 9s, or 8s
Corvettes went through the water and didn't do good burnouts, so they launched with wet tires. Both cars are capable of much better times. Z06 should be mid 10 seconds and Stingray should be low 11's. Most people can't launch them well enough, especially when the tires are still wet. Elevation may have played a part as well. Does anyone know the elevation at this track. It wouldn't affect the Teslas, but high elevation chokes gas cars due to the thinner air. Regardless, an Eray would be a better matchup. Can't wait for that 1000+hp AWD Zora. That will be a game changer.
Having owned a 2001 Vette, a WRX, a couple of Golf GTis, a number of fast bikes, and now a Tesla Model 3, if you want a fast car, the Tesla is the thing. While I miss a car with a manual transmission, it would be pretty hard to justify a new Vette given the fact that it's just not that fast in comparison to other more practical options. This wasn't the case in 2001, but this is 2024.
Zero emissions is kinda funny my man. There's are multiple studies done thar show the cobalt, lithium, graphite, nickel, etc mining required to make one tesla battery equate to about 100k miles of gas on a normal car. Not to mention the power plants charging those things are not all green and even when they are it takes between 1 to 4 tons of coal to make one solar panel which needs to be replaced ever 4 to 8 years for maximum efficiency. But yeah keep speaking out your ass about something you have no real world data about.
Those fossil cars like all, are slow as shit. For years people have spent hours and lots of cash to make them quicker, only to lose to a Tesla. That’s got to hurt some egos.
that vette will hold a higher resale value than that toaster will in 6 years too... especially a ZO6 or ZR1. and that toaster will be in the trash bin in 10 years
The Tesla’s only party trick is straight line acceleration, provided that the weather is warm and the chargers were working at the charging station. For overall fun factor and all around performance, the Tesla does not compare to the Vette.
Weather is warm? It’s 4500lbs awd. It’s just fine in the cold. And last I seen nobody using the street as a race track for turns. Vette has zero tricks as it is slow., cope
@@executiveinvestments You must not know that battery power is significantly reduced in cold weather and therefore range is significantly reduced. You should have learned that in 5th grade science but you could have also learned that by watching the news and seeing the EVs stranded in the blizzards in the mid west this winter. Get out of the city and drive on twisty roads in the mountains. It’s probably not a good idea to do that in a Tesla but choose something more capable. 0-60 in 2.9 (Stingray) or 2.6 (Z06) is slow? Well, watch the video again. The Z06 beat the Tesla. Cope
@@olivergrizzly6346 kid nice try. First off that’s a standard cheap Tesla. The plaid would completely embarrass the z06. And yes in cold weather. Plenty of teslas where I am have no problem in cold weather. No idea where ur getting ur info from. You do know Teslas have battery warmers right? Or did you not learn that in 5th grade science? 0-60 in 2.6? Where? Show me on the street one can do better than 4.0. Lmao. You sound upset the second race the standard cheap Tesla gapped the z06 for 1/3rd the price. Imagine what a plaid would do? Be like 35 car gap. Cope with being a loser.
I disagree. I drove a 2012 Centennial Edition Vette for 6 years before getting my Model S. The cars are so different that they shouldnt even be compared at all. For performance, my Tesla outperforms my Vette. The Vette is sexier but it isnt as fast or technologically forward.
If only they'd put a beefy N/A, supercharged, or turbo engine in the Plaid as an option....wow. i hate Tesla's but that body style is wicked and something that would look phenomenal once these modders got busy on them and dressed them up for car shows.
@woodboysracing We have had an X Plaid since October. My wife drives it mainly, but I have yet to see what qtr mile time I can get. I need to just check it one night lol
@@benhartland4708It did not rape the Z06. Watch the video again. Besides, the Tesla is a one trick pony. Let’s see it try to keep up with a Z06 at the Nurburgring.
That is ridiculous with these tesla cars. Since when have family cars that look like a senior citizen would drive been racing? Why not have the whole family in the tesla momma driving, papa passenger grandpa, grandma and the baby in the back seat.. It doesn't matter if a tesla beats a muscle car because a muscle car is beauty, sound and thrill. It's working on the car with your son or daughter on the weekends going to the garage to work on the car with new parts building it up and memories that it creates. With a Electric car you go to the garage to put it on a charger along side your vacuum and once it's charged your wife will send you off to the store to get her tampons , vegan chicken and quinoa.
Comparing apples to oranges. love the Vette and I can't stand Elon, but there is no denying what these vacumes, toasters, etc are capable of at the drag strip. Also, i'm a senior citizen ( 69 years young) and I drive a 2023 Dodge hemi powered Charger Daytona.
lmao The ICE age dinosaurs jealous the Tesla can do what there sport/ super/ exotic cars can do, with the wife three kids and 10 bags of groceries along for the ride.
The Tesla it raced was more than 10 years old too. The Tesla didnt even have side cameras. Those came in in 2016 so the Vette straight got smoked by Moms car.
lol people think drag racing is real racing. Of course Tesla will win in straight line. It will beat lambo and Ferrari in straight line. But if the Tesla actually has to turn the wheel on a real race track or a real road like autobahn it is smoked.
@@grumpusmaximus9446Not everyone is in that situation and needs room for a wife, three kids and 10 bags of groceries. So why buy something that looks like a dust buster and can’t go 40 miles in cold weather. Not to mention the boring as drywall interior.
It's drag racing and you are describing road racing, they're both still racing. Just because you don't like drag racing doesn't mean it's not racing. Before you come back with some witty reply, I don't own a tesla nor do I really care for them, but they are still fast. And I've been to the 12hrs of Sebring more times than I can count, but that doesn't mean i think drag racing is "fake" racing.
@@olivergrizzly6346 It's a four-door sedan. Now let me think, why would a guy want to buy a boring 4-door sedan... oh yeah that's right, he's got a wife and three kids but still likes to have a little fun.
@@grumpusmaximus9446Like I wrote, not everyone is in that situation and needs a kid hauler. Why would that person by something so ugly and boring? I’d go with a Panamera if I needed 4 doors and a trunk.
@@grumpusmaximus9446 Faster than a Dodge Demon? No. Bugatti Chiron? No. Koenigsegg Jesko Attack? No Faster than a 911 GT3 or GT3 RS on a track? No. Teslas are one trick ponies with horrible build quality, cheap plastic interiors and ugly as Medusa. And then you have to deal with all of the EV crap. No clue why you Tesla Davidians worship such garbage.
That legacy Tesla was pre 2016. It still had a nosecone. You can pick those up for 12-15K right now. It still smoked the Vette. Thats a 15K car beating a 80K car. I dont care how you crack it, that isnt a good look for Corvette. Thats an old grocery getter. I know theres a lot of butthurt going around these days :)
Okay, but if you really want to impress people beating a four-door sedan on a road course, then do it with the wife three kids and 10 bags of groceries in the car.
Sorry to bust your bubble, but all M3Ps are the same speed and use the same front and rear motors from 2018-2023.... Yours is no faster than that first one... Its not until the new 2024 highland performance are they any faster.
On top of that hes racing the c8 z06 which are selling for 150K. They have 670hp and a 0-60 in 2.6 seconds. Im a tesla owner, but I actually know my cars.. My only complaint about owning my M3P- is people like you... youre embarrassing... Your model 3 is turd compared to the c8 z06.. The second one is likely the older p85d and yes the p100d and plaids are faster, but that was the non z06 c8 which is more in the same class with the m3p.. and the m3p owner has the wrong wheels and tires for tracking as you can see in spin in those 20 in wheels... just stay off the internet for a while.. you look like a fool.
Both Corvettes ran slow times as well. The Z06 in the first race is capable of low to mid 10's and the base C8 can run low 11's. I don't know if it's the elevation or the drivers, but I do know they both went through the water, which they shouldn't have. The C8's traction is too good and so it doesn't like to do burnouts. When you wet the tires without a proper burnout, the launch is messy because you get too much wheel spin. Teslas have the advantage of AWD, so a better race for them would be the Eray.
@ghost_m3p Yes the model 3 is basically the same with a software update. The new one isn't really that much faster, if any. The Model S was definitely not the quickest though. Bad part about the Teslas is you can't really modify them to go any faster than stock besides weight reduction. You could theoretically modify either Corvette to be as fast as you want. Same for any gas powered car. Stock vehicles aren't usually my cup of tea.
Instant torque of the electric motor and all-wheel drive. They're quick out of the box, but run out of steam quickly. Look at the trap speed of the Vette vs the first Tesla (Model 3 Performance). And both Vettes got shitty launches.
@@theshape6506 Technically no if you mean acceleration speed. The base C8 falls flat in higher speeds just like the first tesla shown, a M3P. My Plaid can hit 150mph in 9.4 seconds and is still pulling until I top out at 175. If I buy the Track brake package I then can hit 200mph. The C8 Z06 is a track car made to stay in higher rpms and it will fair better at top end acceleration, but the much cheaper Plaid will beat it over and over in top end acceleration. Like I said I have a Plaid myself, but if I could afford a Z06 I would def get one.
