I'm reminded of Grant Morrison's take on if Batman should kill: That Batman puts himself in danger every night but steadfastly refuses to murder is an essential element of the character’s magnificent, horrendous, childlike psychosis. I think he's right, in a way. Bruce Wayne is still locked in that child like state, almost like he never came out of Crime Alley that night. Batman is his way of dealing with that psychosis. Taking a life would defeat his own sense of purpose. The only reason he lives is so no child can ever go through what he went through. It has been described many times, in many versions of this character that there is a line that he will not cross. Isn't it a little obvious Zack? I'm not surprised that Zack misread the source material on his take especially The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller. Yes, Batman kills in that book. But in very different circumstances. Zack's Batman did not retire his cowl because of his disillusionment with the masked life. He did not live in a dystopian future state with hordes of freak mutants terrorising humanity. He especially did not have the threat of nuclear war looming over his head. Superman was not a lap dog of the government. And he definitive did not have the amazing character arc the Dark Knight Returns Batman did where re learning his humanity becomes central to his story. I'm not at all surprised that Zack decided to ignore all these elements. He completely misread Watch men as well, and it clearly shows that while Zack has an eye for the aesthetic and he is often in favor of ignoring the character and their inner self, their motivations. None of the other film makers who have shown Batman causing harm, have come forward and defended his actions. So why would Zack say this. Perhaps he's hurt that millions of comic book fans who resonate with these stories clearly and resoundly said no. It clearly shows that DC is definitely safer away from Snyders hands.

Just cause there’s different variations of Batman doesn’t mean is accurate. That’s A version of the character and not the continuation of the main Batman. Batman shouldn’t be carrying a gun and murdering people with it ,because it defeats the purpose of his character. Batman hates guns for a reason is because of his parents death and what turned him into the Batman. Batman represents justice and Batman has rules. If he doesn’t have a rule and would use a gun , then what’s the point of the joker 🤷♂️. We love Batman for a reason is because of what he stands for and why he’s so unique. Batman shouldn’t be like the punisher Murdering people with guns . That’s why Matt reeves The Batman was the most accurate then any other Batman done in live action. While I get what zack was trying to do , but he didn’t executed Batman well . I will say this , Zack’s Batman is the best fighter than any other Batman. So hopefully James Gunn makes Batman the best fighter in his DCU . Anyways great video!
