I just finished watching an hour ago and oh my god what a huge difference! So much more emotionally connected to the heroes rather than just cut here cut there. Love how it felt like a genuine superhero movie. God bless Zack!

Bravo! I thought I was the only one! Although I watch all three LOTR movies AND I watch all three of The Hobbit. Granted, the LOTR trilogy will likely never be rivaled, I love ALL of those movies. I also love Snyder's 300. I watch all these movies on my (I'm showing off now) awesome 7.1 home theater with 82 inch 4k tv. That said, I can't wait for the Snyder Cut.

Darkseid has this really intense aura surrounding him...he may not be as deep a character as Thanos but just seeing him stand or sit on a throne was so menacing...geez, it's insane.

Thanos showed more character in the Guardians of the Galaxy in much less screen time then Darkseid did in this. Looked nice on Apokolips (although a bit Asgard like) but lacking in actual character development and set up ironically considering the screen time.

4 hours is nothing really especially when you can sit in the comfort of your own home and hit pause to go to the toilet. I remember back in the day they used to regularly have intermissions at the movie theaters so you can get more snacks and take a bathroom break.

Also, It would be more accurate to compare Snyder Cut Darkseid to Guardians of the Galaxy Thanos or Avengers 1 Thanos. In the beginning, Thanos was very much a generic villain until we saw him in Infinity War.

To correct the record, Zack Snyder didn't "go back and correct" anything he had already done. He only shot literally 5 minutes of new material for this release. What you got in ZS's JL was basically exactly what he originally shot. He was just given 70 million dollars to add all the CGI needed in already-shot material. Joss Whedon was the one who bastardized the whole thing.

I don't think Zack got a chance to CORRECT this version based on complaints from the 2017 cut. This Snyder Cut consists of everything he shot in 2016 before the reshoots and a little over 5-7 mins shot in 2020 (mostly joker scenes)

The complaints most people had with the theatrical cut were because of the lack of story and character development which zach shot before the reshoots happened but WB left on the cutting room floor. Since those scenes are put back in the snyder cut I think it will remedy peoples complaints that they had with the Whedon cut.

Even if snyder had been allowed to finish this in '17, at least a third would've been cut out and it would've edited to fit pg13 standards. I'm happy to hear people like it. But there's no guarantee snyder doesn't murder this in the editing room and people need to keep that in mind

@@theFLICKpick iirc originally it was supposed to be Martian Manhunter *and* Green Lantern but WB made Zack reshoot it with just MM as they wanted to give priority to the GL tv series. Apparently John Stewart was supposed to explain that the GL Corps had been hiding the Earth from Darkseid, explaining why he forgot where it was. I also imagine there was dialogue with MM commenting on Bruce’s dreams, considering his telekinetic powers.

She was also a red head in Aquaman and a blonde in JL. Additionally, this JL has Aquaman using his mother's trident, while he only acquires it at the end of the Aquaman movie. It's clear WB didn't intend this JL to be connected to the Aquaman movies.

To be honest, Batman is known for adapting his equipment with his experience. Seeing Wonder Woman, I think it makes perfect sense that he would try something similar.

Remember the knightmare sequence was shot last year during covid, I'm pretty sure none of the characters except Affleck and leto where on stage at the same time.. So kind of hard to make an action scene

No but he did have a thanos copter, I'm pretty sure his motivations in the comics weren't brought in until at least the 80s with the whole infinity gauntlet saga and we didn't get his motivations in the movies until infinity despite his prior appearances which is fair enough.

Hey John, I was one of the lucky few who got to see this on an Imax screen! In Melbourne Australia Imax ran a competition to go the the one night showing premiere of this and I was fortunate enough to score myself a spot. Seeing it in Imax was pretty unreal, once this pandemic is over I hope they plan to show this in Imax because it looks and sounds incredible. Will be interested to see what I think of it rewatching this via streaming on a widesreen TV. Love the review of this, long time watcher, always love your content!

The thing I don't think people are realizing is that even if Snyder hadn't left in 2017: This was never going to be what hit the theatres. WB & Snyder agreed on a 2.5hr cut. This whole 4hr edition? Most likely would've been a DVD thing. Cutting out all that runtime still would've impacted the film

ACtually, the gauntlet that Batman wears in this version is NOT an after thought. If you look VERY closely in Whedon version where Batman says "I NEED A NIGHT CRAWLER!" You can visibly see a smoke on the left side of the frame, indicating he just blocked few projectiles with his gauntlets from Parademons. Meaning..yes Whedon has cut that whole thing out.

It wasn't a redo movie though. Zack didn't remake the whole movie. the leto knightmare scene it was the only additional photography scene.

I think it was a missed opportunity that MM didn't say some people call me "Martian Manhunter" but then telepathically to Bruce say "but you can call me J'onn"...to showcase a bit more of MM's abilities. Or eliminate the Martha/MM reveal and in epilogue show Bruce and Clark having a casual chat/drink. Then Bruce discloses that something "Clark" was touching/near was actually made of Kryptonite and that he knows this "Clark" is an imposter. Then have the transformation and telepathy. Showcase Batman detective skills and MM abilities.
