Got people in the comments acting like the _very concept of friendship_ is under assault. "CAN NOBODY JUST BE FRIENDS ANYMORE??!?!?!?" No, they can't. Everyone is in gay love now. Every champion you like is gay, polyamorous and nonbinary and trans. Sorry, I don't make the rules, that's just how it is.

I really love Zed aka Usan aka Govos. He is such a good character to me.

Zed and Shen look like two variations of Shredder.

It's kinda unfortunate how due to historically lacking representation we have a situation where people who want to see two men having a platonic but emotionally supportive relationship and people who want to see a romantic relationship between two men are driven to kinda "compete" over the same characters. And this could have totally been avoided if Riot's management would have just let the writers make explicitly gay male characters and then we could also have close platonic male friendships without assumptions that they have to be gay.

Zed to the Kinkou Order when the Noxian invade: *pull out glock "we can't expect Ionia to do all the work"

Fun fact: Zed never had A CHANCE at that fight with Shen. He was only able to enter the Kinkou as a warrior because of an extremely noble act of compassion on Shen's part, which let himself get hit. This is one of the main reasons why Shen resented Zed's rebellion so much... y'know, massacre and patricide aside.

Im honestly not gonna be surprised if the rest of the Z champions get a three or even two part treatment. But i know you aint gonna do that with Zyra since, well, there's nothing much to talk about her.

there is love between the two yeah, but its the love you have for a brother, someone who after having childhood hardship, could share that hardship with you and grow with you, shen grew to meditate more, thinking about what could be better done, and zed grew to see that meditating while Ionia burns will achieve nothing and that his blade has the force to prevent the fire, Jhin being this impossible to fight serial killer also helped, as even Ionia can produce rotten flowers

that comic with Zed, Jhin and Shen really did change my view of Zed as a character. It's p good in my opinion at least.

About his design (we will get to that in two days I guess), it's kinda weird for me the fact that the concept is super generic (shadow ninja, duh) but the execution is... Not? I never seen a character with that "visual composition". But take my comment with a grain of salt, because that might come from the fact that I have never consumed or had interest on any ninjas-related media.

Im gonna be honest, I don’t see the gay connection there. It’s a valid interpretation, to see them as homosexual, but I don’t think this was intended that way. And I don’t think many people see it that way. The constant usage of „brother“ and the fact that he is basically adopted makes this whole thing weirder and personally gives me more of a „Anakin and Obi-Wan“ vibe. As I said I don’t think that this Interpretation is invalid or wrong, just that it’s kinda hard to see for me and others.

Idk man, i would really love to see mlm representation in league, but Zed x Shen still feels like incest to me. They refer to each other as "brother" multiple times throughout the comic, and they've stablished a sibling-type of relation. It's like shipping Kaeya and Diluc from genshin. I wouldnt be mad if riot made it happen, but it would just be kinda weird.

The only problem that I have with the comics is how Shen is acting completely out of character. We always heard that Shen is calm and collected, even a bit inhuman, but in the comics, he's not like that. Zed was acting closer to Shen should be acting and that is really strange. I know, this could be to retell that Zed was supposed to be the Eye of Twilight, but when we see Shen in all the other media who he appears (the fell where he appear), the dissonance becomes even clear.

Seeing the text where you mentioned that these two aren’t even adoptive brothers so a queer reading _is_ valid reminded me of the debate surrounding Diluc and Kaeya in Genshin. For some godforsaken reason the English dub chose to call them adoptive brothers when in the original Chinese game they are _sworn brothers,_ which is not about being actual brothers so much as it is about being “closer than friends, closer than brothers” (sort of like the concept of making a blood pact). Since China was westernized and colonized and no longer is as accepting of queer relationships as the country was in ancient times, “sworn brothers” has often been used as a code for queer relationships in numerous Chinese media, and it’s been driving me nuts whenever English Genshin players deny the original Chinese (or even Asian, as the Japanese and Korean dubs are able to keep the concept of sworn brothers) fanbase’s reading of the game, calling them “incest shipper freaks” etc. 🙄

As a sibling haver, the "they call each other brother" argument is kind of silly to me. Different cultural standards and storytelling devices aside, can't say that dramatically yelling "BROTHER" into someone's face has ever felt like a sibling relationship to me. The level of melodrama does, however, feel very indicative of romantic inclinations. But that's just my emotional response to the dynamic presented there and It's not any more valid than anyone else's. We're all just balls of emotions trying to find things that make us feel things.

The title is a reference to something, something that was legendary and made into a movie.

Am I the only one who genuinely dislikes Zed x Shen? Riot should not make them canon. They were raised by the same man and refer to each other as Brothers. They are adopted Brothers.

People need to realize that platonic male love and romantic male love can coexist and are not threats to each other. Reading Zed and Shen as brotherly love is just as valid as a romantic reading and vice versa.
