19:31 This is true. When I was playing wow, I changed my main every xp, and made sure to have all classes at max lvl by the end of the expansion. With the exception of when creating them, I never cared much what they looked like. in FF 14, I made a cat girl and gave her rather mundane blue hair. I have thought countless times already that I should change her hair color, and have never done it because doing so would change 'my' character. I never had that in WoW.
Same struggle I've had with my character. There are times where Au Ra horns and tails really ruin a cool glam I'm trying to make, but I just can't muster up the urge to actually change her for such a frivilous reason because she IS a character in the story to me now just as much as Alphinaud or Alisae are.
Yeaaah your character in FFXIV at least for me is like... someone just as important as the cast around you. Something WoW has not and will probably never do for me.
@@VidulaSaix in the same boat have had an Au Ra since HW release and several times was like "these horns kinda kill my glam" but even after all this time i cant bring myself to change to another race every time it just feels wrong to change lol
i did the praetorium every day... the experience was just so desperately delicious for raising alts. i wouldn't have levelled every tank and all those dps jobs i did if it wasn't for the full level prae gave.
Honestly I think the new msq roulette setup is perfect. The exp isn't as much but you're in and out much faster, and the tomestones are still the best for poetics
I was in the same boat. I haven't gotten far into Heavenswards yet, but I do have all level 50+ jobs with level 50 poetics gear. I'm still running them atm for my retainer gear.
I unsubbed from Mike during that really bad time he was having... you could just 'feel' he was unhappy, and hell, I was unhappy playing too! When I found out he was gonna try the game out, I jumped in and donated to his charity event just to help get him to have to play... I'm now subbed to his channel again and you can just see how happy he is just playing a game and it really comes through. I'm really happy, because at his heart, he is just a dude who loves video games, like the rest of us!
@@selpharessecret3899 For serious. How many times now has Ion given us that "we've learned a _lot,_ and we're _definitely_ going to listen more going forward" line? It's been at least once per expansion since...WoD? Maybe earlier. And often _multiple_ times per expansion. I ditched that game for good, and a WoW knockoff of How To Train Your Dragon is _not_ going to change that.
@@KaedysKor Way to often if you ask me and it certainly not helped that they bleeded talent over the years. To be fair I am more in thge faction to burn the whole place down but even if not, it would be wise to wait how it turns out after release.
@@selpharessecret3899 Or how about you don't judge a games playability for me? I'll decide if and when I want to play a game, thank you very much. I quit WoW before, and if DF sucks, I'll do it again. Hence why I made the claim that I HOPE the expansion is good.
Btw, Preach not doing the story and other battle content is actually a great idea for a streamer, I would think. If he did it while everyone else was doing it, on patch drop, he would lose those viewers on his stream. Now he can monopolize viewers looking to see other people's reactions because they would share in his initial experience now without being spoiled. Genius, imo.
a lot of streamers who do niche content do this which is pretty funny, on patch drop the first thing in their title is "SPOILER FREE", it's pretty smart ngl
the attachment to the character is very very real, i always tried to fantasia mine to try another race but always feel so weird like "this is not her (my character)". Never felt it in another game before, wich is great!
You know, I actually did fantasia twice in my early days, from a Catgirl to an Au Ra. And then I got to the bunny girl, and ever since then i've been stuck on that and think I will be for the rest of this game's lifetime. Can't imagine playing any other characters. It's just too perfect for me.
My thing with doom is that it's so inconsistent. Some Doom you need to heal to full, some you need to do some mechanic in time, and some you need esuna. I wish these were like separate things
Zepla, don't tell us to remove our limited edition rare out of print collector's skills!! I still have Skewer for DRG!! The one that reduced a target's INT!
First, your portraits are fantastic, Zep! Second, I agree- I've become rather fond of 'ol Boone. He has developed quite a bit as a character and I love role playing as him whenever I record the MSQ, or go on stream! He started out as kind of a one-note, sword-obsessed himbo but after the events of 2.55 he was forced to evolve slowly into a lovable goofball with the capacity to become serious when he really needed to and even learned how to sass from the Avatar of Destruction herself.
I love my main character. I only change her look for cosplays but I have a look that's just her. I only really change her hair sometimes. But I made an alt to look at alternative parts of a limited event quest I couldn't repeat and now I have 5 characters and I want my alts to be in a fan club for my main because Idk what else to do with them besides keep getting event stuff that's level 15. 2 of them are my retainers, so they have backstory, and the other 2 just look like me but have different names so it's lore. I like lore....
had a 17 minute CC...I'm now traumatized. 😮💨 Edit: Also, there is less need to make alts so that makes it easier to get attached to our main character.
"He spent so much time on his adventurer plate that he didn't do the story yet?" Well yeah Zepla, you can't go on an adventure without your adventurer plate.
I think I saw someone with an Adventurer plate that looks like a driving license with the weird face we all make for official pictures. An adventurer license kind of lol
@@GambeTama Yes, but then again, would you really want that official metaphorical and literal gatekeeper to know when you are online and can be spied on? Not to mention the whole forum, this info is copied via this register book thing.
You should watch Bellular’s response to the Alliance Raid. Mike’s video got me to do some PvP for the first time in FF. It was the talk of mindset that put me on the path to trying, I’m not enamoured of it, but I did have fun playing it.
That winding road with the frogs is actually one of my few memories of a bad experience in game. I've been maining Paladin since I started playing in 2016. It was my first time in the dungeon. I was tanking. I was told before we got into that area by the party not to pull too much. I got knocked off the ledge and was trying to get back to the party, accidentally pulling all of the mobs from the bottom up. We wiped and they kicked me for "pulling too much." It was my first time and I didn't know you could fall! Thankfully, it was so rare that I ever had bad experiences like that but because they didn't happen often that one did stick around and I still remember it years later.
I just tried out CC. I've never done PvP like this before. It is SO GOOD. Losing the glam show that Prae could be is sad. The last day of old!Prae, we had a fashion commentator go thru our outfits... it was so fun... but the new mechanics in Prae are really nice. Also, I never changed my character throughout my journey from ARR to EW except for a haircut... and I am super attached to my character. Adventure plate scratches that itch to show him off!
I like when someone’s portrait is just them slightly off to the side. Also I just realized today that you can check adventure plates from the party list.
That wouldn't make sense, the whole point about Blue Mage is having like a hundred spells and YOU specifically being able to choose what to use for specific situations. If you simplify it and remove 99% of its spells it's not Blue Mage any more.
As a newer player to this and MMO's . But when I did go into the Copper Mine the first time I was surprised how easy it was. It felt like a training mission or something. Cleared that dungeon so fast. I also like how the design is really thought out, but ARR it does feel like a very long tutorial. But I think that is good because of the all the mechanics in the game, it would be a drag if they tried to introduced them all from the start. As you go through ARR and are near the end you are still learning mechanics and systems in the game. This is good because the slower pace let's get used to things.
17:20 I mean, the meta's ridiculously strong even in lower ranks. Trust me, I'm all of a sudden determined to get 'anywhere' with Dancer just on general principle, and it's absolutely rough that it feels like I'm throwing just by existing. Can be making callouts, can be bolstering my Dance Partner, focusing lower-health targets and their heals, know when to retreat or skirt or pop Ult for the team to capitalize on... And it's like, if there's an opposing team with a meta that's even slightly more coordinated than my team outside of the meta, it's a whooping from here to their goalpost I think they need to think out Jobs that depend on teamplay rather than not-so-glass cannons that can just continue to take out opponents with little issue. The first balance patch is gonna make things just generally better, but it is a lot of fun so looking forward to those changes
I don’t think they will censor the portraits and I can tell you why. Because these portraits are already cannon. Anyone else remember naked Thancred BARELY being censored by the 🐿? I remember.
they actually changed alot of the arr dungeons . example remember that dungeon where you use a cannon to hit a dragon that appears behind , now that its gone. They changed all the old dungeons that use trust now.
I do MSQ roulette everyday before the change. It helped me get all my jobs to 80 before the level cap increase. I still do it so I can get my jobs to 90 now.
Ohhhhh. I was in Dzemael cause I switched GCs to get the next pvp horse I needed and was like "what's different about this now??". That's actually how I met Tiny. It was when mentors were out first and I was all like "I WANNA HELP" and helped him do Dzemael on his alt through the novice network. And tanked it and fell off the edge lol.
side note, I wish they'd add a quick chat to say a target's lb is ready so you could warn your team a samurai is about to one shot them all lol. And frontlines is really fun if it's Onsal or sieze. Like over 2 million damage and 12 kills on white mage feels good xD
21:00 I think it's part of the meta to make yourself unrecognizable in Cystalline Conflict. If your portrait is boring and the same as everyone else. Your opponents won't remember you and then adjust their play against you.
I can just imaging Zepla malding over something, pulling her hair out in frustration. RFC is fine, it's the first dungeon you do on the horde side, it's fast and easy, same with stockades, it doesn't ned revamping, unless we are adding a hard mode and mythic mode, then you can maybe add other bosses. I like how the FF14 dungeons do this. a normal mode and hard mode version of Sastasha are not thee same dungeon and I love that. 8:45 How dare you enjoy praetorium Mike! we hate it so you must too. lol I'll be honest, I've been taking a break since I finished the 6.0 MSQ. I recently logged back on and did a bit of the 6.1 MSQ. I need to pull myself together and finish that, I'm sure it isn't all that long to do and then I want to level up another job that I haven't touched in forever. I'm thinking Bard, I think mine is still level 4 or something. Bard is the ranged dps that currently does the most damage right? it's not Machinist or Dancer?
I have SO MANY adventuring OCs but I jus can't seem bring myself to make alt characters. I've done everything so far w jus ONE and I'm STILL finding things do, I'm not sure if I'll ever bring atls into the fold.
3:15 they did change that. They removed the whole lower area lol. And they streamlined toto rak so it's just a straight path now basically and no items to collect lol
Hey man. Hey. When I wanted to level stuff, I absolutely was gunning for prae every day. Needed my daily date with Gaius Zepla he gave me so much exp and Nero rambled on so much I could make coffee every single time-
i'm maybe an idiot, but i did loved praetorium.... in the 2.0.... not after because with the different patch and expansion this place was a mess at do. and since people was wanting to rush it, it was impossible to see how it was means to be done in the 2.0. amazing dungeon, but a pain to farm that for sure.
I've played a female character since heavenward because I dont like how bulky and not cute the men are.... but then male viera came out and now my character feels perfect.
Lul. The biggest think i didn't like about prae - is how people rushed trough it... Well overall I like to complete dungeon at more or less chill speed (and not - I need to grab every enemy i could and finish that dungeon asap) Prob cuz i have ptsd from people skipping everything they could in wow, speedrunning dungeons. And also that first Satasha experience when boss died before cutscene ended 😕 Luckily we have trusts now and i hope there will be more of them, so i could run dungeons even slower.
Well, I was in frontline and it was me and 10 people funneling to the centre, Enemy samurai does ONE move, and kills half of us from full hp. So I dunno Zepla, I think Sam might be broken.
The main issue I got in pvp is not the classes really. while yes there are some that are stronger than others, but what absolutely bothers me is that some people on diamond have no sense of strategy and just feed in when we would be winning. or chasing solo across the map to run straight into the enemy group... They can be absolute pros at their classes, if they do stuff like that idk how they made it to such a high rank O.o I always do TC as a healer on reasonable targets (like after guard use) and while often ppl follow that and kill the target, it happens way to many times that the dps are targeting random targets...
And i thought i was the only one who was madge xD Crystalline conflict pissed me off so much now i'm just used to the losing streaks to the point where i expect them lol (i'm glad i only do casual...)
I blast through Ranked on the first 3 days and I keep getting match with diamond players that somehow doesn't know what they're doing (like I could be doing like 1mil in 5 mins game and they doing like 100k with sub 100k healing as a healer) while the enemy team synergize so well it's almost like they're on voice comm while I was 1 win away from going to plat (where I planned to stop anyway) like come on man are there no plat player around here or something I was so madge I keep rage queue and ended up going down to gold 2 so I just do only casual/frontline now
@@BeeLightning tbh i don't know what i'm doing in there. as a smn i do garuda, titan then ifrit gap close/book smack usually to my doom lol but sometimes it's got me some kills. Most of the time i'm trying to stay on the point but can't even attack because i'm too busy trying to stay alive but at least i'm stalling the crystal?? I'm like "If i can't kill you i'm going to be as annoying as i possibly can" lol
Yooo they changed the bomb thing on the slime part? I always thought its cool tbh You lower the bomb's health and use it as a weapon to kill the slime.
"who's running praetorium every day?" Me, desperately trying to level every job. Idk why I pay for a sub, I'm 300 hours in and still haven't gotten around to starting stormbringer
I installed FF14 2 days after endwalker. It's not the game for me anymore. I do miss it,but I just got burnt. Alot of the people I had such a great time with would rather just stand around in town playing dress up.
What Zepla and a lot people apparently haven't realized about SAM being complete bullshit is that also the range for his LB is literal the same as max range for a any caster or ranged job, NOT only that, but he doesn't ONLY hit people around the target he selected, if he goes through anyone to the point of the farthest target he will also execute them all the same. So YES, SAM is in a complete bullshit state right now, without mentioning the fact that it should be obvious that ANY fully 1 shot mechanic in any PvP game should NOT exist.
When she said going into a pvp match and the other team has basic plates they gonna wipe the floor with them...usaly its the other way around no? usaly the pvp players dont care about stuff like that as much. So if u see basic plates u know: this dude dont care about shiny things and just wanna pvp.
Jesus the stuns in pvp are endless. That and purify doesn't work at all. It's SO bugged. On top of that every button takes 3 years to go off. They either need to fix their unresponsive system or take the damn CC out.
