I cant help but feel like it is so underappreciated how good the engineering on this figure is. This is the cleanest jet former I've ever seen. And the robot mode has just such minor differences from the non transforming 3m figure. Zeta toys knocked it out of the park with this guy.

I'm surprised they managed to get the f4 so accurate and it transforms so well

I love how there are virtually no visible robot parts in the alt mode and it also didn't look like there were any false parts in the robot mode.

It's crazy they gave him the same little weapons that became his own doom in the end😂

I gotta say, that's one beautiful jet underside, I always appreciate when it looks nice

I think it's CRAZY how "solid" the jet mode looks, and then, to watch pieces fold and shift is absolutely nuts! The engineering that went into this guy to get such good looking modes!! And of course the robot!! My god, it's a thing of beauty! Such a great job on showing us the process, you are the man Emgo. I know you probably won't read this, but still. After seeing the box that the figure comes in, I’m getting a Flash Gordon vibe from it more than DC Comics Flash.

Great Review, and get that he's in a CLASS of his own, however, it would have been a BUY from a guy that is only interested in MP Scale, if his Alt mode was in line with the SEEKERs Alt modes. His Alt mode is INSANE! Hits it out of the Park. Just a shame that he doesn't scale very well with the MP line/3P MPs. Otherwise he is amazing.

In the movie, Blitzwing was an F-4C Phantom II, but this version and Mechanical Alliance's version are F-4Es. The main difference is the nose area ahead of the cockpit. The F-4C was shorter in length but had a larger stubby black nosecone with a IR sensor below. The F-4E was much longer (esp. the area between the cockpit and nosecone) with a smaller black nosecone and long bulge underneath housing the 20 mm Vulcan cannon.

great review, i still prefer the mechanical alliance because he is more screen accurate with the logos and the USAF. and the jet mode looks cleaner. But i like the fact that the legs parts can tab together on this one

Damn, he's way bigger than I thought. MA version is smaller than those BBM Optimus, and this is way bigger

Can you imagine this painted in a more camo version and with operstional insignias and make a vietnam style diorama or it or even repaint it into a g1 starscream look

I actually have the mechanical alliance one, and I like the way it looks in robot mode and it’s more stiff joints except I couldn’t get the panels to close all the way. I got the zeta and on my copy the wings are so loose that they don’t stay in place and one of the fingers broke off so I keep the zeta toys in jet mode and the mechanical alliance in robot mode.

Hasbro and Takara keep hitting these guys with C&Ds because these third party figures are superior.

Awesome review! I have to open mine up to do a complete comparison to MA version, but really leaning towards Flash.

I’d never purchase the mechanical alliance version just because of all his issues, but it’s such a bummer because I seem to be one of the few that thinks his robot mode looks SEVERELY better than the zeta version. Zeta looks great, but when compared with MA, zeta suddenly looks like just an upscale SS blitzwing. I’ll probably still bite so I can have him in scale with my ToyWorld freedom Leader. Thanks for the review Emgo!

What size batteries?

I have bought the Mechanical Alliance version a while ago and after watching a few reviews of the Zeta Toys version, I thought it is worth buying this one and get rid of the Mechanical Alliance, especially because I got 30% discount, which is amazing. But, boy I was so wrong! Maybe it's just my copy, but let me tell you why I was wrong. 1. The paint and the screen accuracy are much better done on the Mechanical Alliance. That metallic vibe and the dirty look on him, plus the attention to details, in terms of his alien tattoos, are spot on to the way he shows on screen. 2. While the transformation is slightly less frustrating on the Zeta Toys and everything stays tabbed in, during the whole transformation pieces just kept falling off and ball jointed panels kept on poping off, which never happened with the Mechanical Alliance in the past, and I transformed him so many times, that I lost count. 3. Some pieces on the Zeta Toys version are so well tabbed in, that I am afraid they will break whilst getting them undone, which actually happened to one of his shoulders. 4. Lastly but not leastly, while posing Zeta Toys and Mechanical Alliance in their robot modes, I did the "shaking" test. Guess who lost its balance in the next second: that's right, Zeta Toys. I kept on turning and tilting his lower legs, upper legs, the feet... to the same result. He just kept falling on the back whilst doing the test. So, while I agree with the fact that Zeta Toys holds the pieces together better and it is easier to pose, my preferred version is Mechanical Alliance. As I mentioned earlier in my comment, maybe it's just my copy, so I don't want to discourage anyone from buying it. By all means, you like what you like and you might get a good version of it, but take it with a grain of salt.

This is like masterpiece figure. Only issue i have is it should be triple changes. 😅

Wow, the MA one broke. Yikes. You should consider blogposting occasionally to go into specifics about certain happenings like that which can't be covered in detail as well in video format, plus it would, in theory, be less time consuming than making a video. You really are doing a service to all TF nerds with all these videos. I couldn't have gotten thru the MP-44 ko I got without your transformation video on it.

I see a lot of tiny armatures holding on large pieces and that makes me nervous.

5:10 correct me if I'm wrong but based on the model of F4 that blitzwing is (which I think to be an F4A), those are AIM 9 Sidewinders on the sides and AIM 7s or skyflashes on the bottom I believe. 5:20 I also think those are either AIM 7 sparrows or skyflashes.

I still maintain that this is the perfect look for a G1-inspired live action Starscream.

He looks... pretty good! Hopefully not a lot of clearance issues.

I wonder how their take on Shatter and Dropkick would be.

Surprisingly, there is no o-blitz-gatory product shot on the box...

PSA @29:05: this part can break, broke on mine. The connection between the rotatable piece and the rest of the wing is supported by a single piece of plastic. Wished it was diecast or at least a solid connection. This is an added connection, molded separately from plastic bulk. Showz is helping me to get it sorted out...meanwhile apoxie putty to the rescue. Nice figure overall.

Funny thing before this figure was created I made an f4 1/32 scale with the same paint scheme

They did a good job with where you can put the missiles on the F-4 Phantom mode Edit: in combat against aircraft, you can never have enough missiles

It is interesting that in the movie blitzwing it was not a triplechanger, and that an F-4E Phantom II was chosen for its alternate form, I had chosen the Mig-31 Foxhound (this was one of its original alternate modes) or the Mig-25 Foxbat.

Finally got this guy and came with more problems than expected. Loose wings and the metal chest piece won't stay on during transformation(Is that normal?) and some ball joints in the leg panels came with stress marks. A tad dissapointed but it still looks amazing and just needs some socket tightener

I've ordered the Mechanical Alliance Blitzwing a few weeks ago. I can't cancel the order now. I'm curious as to which part broke on yours so I can hope to avoid that in the future.

Does anyone know if it is possible to find little light replacements? I have another Zeta figure, but I need to replace the lights.... they are the same as this
