showing hot to remove the vct and exhaust cam on a zetec engine. this one is one a 2000 contour but the 99-02 mercury cougar, and the escort zx2's used the same engine so this applies to them as well

thx for the video. my vct selonoid code is coming up so probably going to change the vct selonoid soon. good to see what I'm getting myself into.

I'm sorry I have not responded to these questions sooner, I never really saw them until now, the way i reset the vct is by setting the timing, slapping the valve cover back on, hooking everything up, and starting up the engine for a minute. then the vct will be in position, but your timing will be off, re do your timing and it put it all back together.

+alejandro landeros from my experience if the car sat for more then 6 months you will need to crank the car for quite a while to get a start. I'm not sure if it is the vct tbh. my fix for that is drive it a few times and change the oil. has worked on three cars I've had this issue with.

Could be engine coolant sensor and cooling fan sensor my was hard to start up replaced these and now turns over first start up.

Patricia Keith coolant sensors don't have much to do with start up though

how do you reset the vct that's what we want to know I hear you just pull the plugs and the battery and sping the engine a few times

Why is your Vvt on the Exhaust Side??? Mines on the inlet side!!!!!

Good video. Could you share the vct connector pinout please? I'm trying to install a new connector in my 98 Ford Contour because it's missing. I have 2 wires, one Black/Red and the other one is Green/Orange.

the big star screw? counter clockwise from what i remember... there wasn't anything with opposite thread from what i remember

This guy doesn’t know the difference between a screw and a bolt. Do your self a favor, DO NOT follow this advice. If you do your problems will be 10 times worse.

I can tell from all your helpful videos that you have great advice to give! I took the time to record and post this to help people who may have gotten stuck at this point of their project. Sorry i incorrectly labeled a bolt, i hope that grammar mistake doesn't cost you a new engine!
