That kind of illustrates why the Rafale easily won the Swiss airforce competition. Switzerland then choosing the single engine F35 is quite puzzling. It will be hard to pull such stunts with that brick.
Out of the 3 that you’ve posted: the F-16, the Eurofighter, and the Rafale, the Rafale wins it for me. That thing is just so fluid and snappy. Such a quick, gorgeous jet with insane kinematics. Loud as anything too. Love it! Amazing footage as usual!
I have always been a fan of the French Airforce displays over the years, they are always full of energy and enthusiasm, I remember the pair’s display of the Jaguar Mirage F1 and Mirage 2000 outstanding flying. Once again thanks for another superb video I also use the Sony Ax53 to film and I know how difficult it is to film fast jet displays 👍👏😍
Yes, Switzerland chose the F-35 instead, a stealth aircraft meant for SEAD and DEAD, for penetration into contested airspace. A neutral country just wants to defend its airspace. The F-35 costs close to twice as much per flight hours as a Rafale.. It's a repeat of the US browbeating West Germany into buying the F-104 Starfighter, a plane with tiny wings that can't turn, to be used as a multirole fighter. The Germans called it the widowmaker.
Biden went to switzerland, said "we will investigate your banks". Politicians answered "we will buy your f35"(and there will be no referendum) Not sure what % of this is fiction
@@paulmakinson1965 The rafale F4 can detect any stealth aircraft with alternate radars. That was one of the main improvement required for this new version. The stealth propaganda is over, the Rafale could already defeat any stealth jet but now that he has the equipment to detect and track them he is probably number 1.
Early 2021: the Rafale has succeeded all tests. June 16, 2021: Joe Biden meets Swiss Confederation President Guy Parmelin and Federal Councilor Ignazio Cassis in Geneva. June 30, 2021: Switzerland chooses the F-35... Maybe President Biden reminded Swiss officials previous sanctions against Swiss banks? We’ll never know: 2009: "UBS had to pay $780 mn to escape prosecution for tax evasion in the United States." December 2012: "UBS pays $1.53 bn to settle lawsuits related to alleged manipulation of the Libor interbank rate." May 2014: “Credit Suisse must pay a fine of $2.6 bn for inducing American taxpayers to evade taxes by opening secret accounts in Switzerland.” May 2015: "UBS receives two new fines ($342 mn and $203 mn) in the US in cases of currency manipulation and the Libor rate." etc. etc ...
I absolutely love this airplane. It is definitely one of my favorites, being in the U.S. it is unlikely I will ever get to see one on display like this. Thanks so much for posting! Great job as always!
Usually Andersen AFB hosts Boeing C-17A Globemaster III, McDonnell-Douglas F-15E Strike Eagle, or Rockwell B-1B Lancer. This Wednesday, June 28, 2023 its visitors were much more exotic: eleven French planes in the colors of the Air Force and Space. And in this part of the Pacific the Airbus DS A330 MRTT Phénix and A400M Atlas, and even more so the Dassault Aviation Rafale F3-R do not go unnoticed. For many US Air Force soldiers, it was even the first time they had seen it! Over the next three weeks the six omnirole fighter jets, three air-to-air tankers, and two cargo planes will participate in several combined arms exercises with US forces. This is why their presence on the island of Guam, and more specifically at Andersen AFB, seemed normal. The United States and France are two extremely loyal and close allies, both in Europe and in the Near/Middle East. In the Asia-Pacific zone, they must relearn how to work together, both having very strong interests there. If New Caledonia, French Polynesia, or Wallis-and-Futuna are well-known territories in our latitudes, it is different from Guam. It is perhaps useful to recall its very special international status. Unlike New Caledonia, French Polynesia, and Wallis-and-Futuna which here are COMs (Overseas Collectivities) governed by article 74 of the 1958 constitution, the island of Guam is a UOT (for Unincorporated and Organized Territories) not having the rank of state and having no elected parliamentarian sitting in Washington DC. The UOTs actually have a status closer to what the French colonies were before 1963. The United States has four different UOTs: the Marianas archipelago and Guam in the Pacific, and the Virgin Islands archipelago and Puerto Rico in the West Indies. With the rise of Chinese expansionism but also North Korean gestures, Andersen AFB is currently one of the major deployment bases of American defense policy. It is therefore not innocent that the French crews came there as part of Operation Pégase 2023. The American aircraft with which they will train over the next few weeks will be based there for some. It should be noted that before impressing the American soldiers in the Pacific, the eleven French planes have already had a visit of choice. Young compatriots, students from the French high school in Kuala Lumpur, were able to talk with the women and men of the Air and Space Force. Organized by the French Embassy in Malaysia, this visit was an opportunity for these daughters and sons of expatriates to better understand what an A330 MRTT, an A400M, and of course the star, the Rafale, are! In the sovereign airspace of Malaysia, the eleven planes of the Air and Space Force had the possibility of evolving with fighters of the TUDM, the Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia. Flying in tandem with both McDonnell-Douglas F/A-18D Hornets and Sukhoi Su-30MKM Flanker-Cs does not have to happen every day for French Dassault Aviation Rafale F3-R pilots. The kif should also be shared by their Malaysian counterparts for whom evolving in their own skies with nothing less than one of the two best combat aircraft on the planet is exceptional. French and Malaysian hunters evolving side by side. As you will have understood, Pégase 2023 is not just a show of force by France aimed at China and North Korea. It is also a formidable tool of diplomacy towards our Asian partners and our American ally. At Kuala Lumpur airport, the French operation was undoubtedly also a machine for creating dreams and memories for our young compatriots from the other side of the world. And what about our airmen who can fly where the Air Force so rarely went. What the Air Force could not do in the 20th century, the Air and Space Force can do in the 21st. This is also the A330 MRTT and Rafale duality!
The more I watch the Rafale display the more I love it. Superb roll rate, stunning climb rate, outstanding turner and sooooo agile.Hands down best Western 4+ gen.fighter jet out there right now. Bubu, excellent pick as its been the case since the inception of RSD to showcase the excellent flying characteritics chez la Maison Dassault. Elwyn, thank you so much for a formidable camera work, almost like being right there if not better!!!!.
the Rafale! this plane has won all international competitions, it is combat proven, it knows how to do absolutely everything with remarkable brilliance, it is a jewel, simply a jewel. an extraordinary aircraft which was designed from the start to be ultra versatile, it can be upgraded over the years for decades, this development is already planned....moreover the French do not practice economic blackmail like the Americans do it, they offer remarkable assistance at all levels....I want my country to buy this incredible plane, the flight hour only costs 17,000 euros compared to 56,000 for the F35 for example...Switzerland bought F35s and can't even fly them anymore., it's a disaster that cost them billions. not to mention that they can't even use them as they want, the Americans prevent them by blackmailing them for parts and maintenance.
Probably the sleekest and most gorgeous fighter on the planet today, and to do a display in and amongst that mountainous scenery is absolutely outstanding!
During this extraordinary aerial exhibition, the pilot showcased his mastery by displaying an almost supernatural ease, as if he were exploring an aerial space beyond the fourth dimension.
Love the Rafale! Always does great displays, high speed, very dynamic, lots of aerobatics, never disappoints! Great filming as always Elwyn, and very atmospheric and scenic with the mountain backdrops!
Wow! My personal favourite moment is at 6:48 when he switches to afterburner after going slow. And that landing at the end of a looping f yeah!😂 The commentator was hard to understand but at one point he told it was between 8 and -4 g turns and that it was worth to give the man a big hand. I didn't get the pilot's name. Thee was a bit of accent in the way 😅 brilliant
Great filming as always, and I couldn't help but notice what a smooth, perfect landing that was - and looking behind that looks like a load of fun being in the crowd too. One day I must experience that!!!
Merci.
The Rafale is so light and agile, this pilot is having far too much fun. It reminds me of the Mirage 2000, another superb aircraft. Wonderful capture despite the tricky lighting, thank you for posting….(Apparently it was his mother in law in the back seat…lol)
I thought the pilot always flew the same plane specially prepared for all the displays . During the last Riat 2023 the pilot flew a single-seater rafale. I would like to know who was in the back seat. He must have had a strong stomach
This landscape in front of Switzerland's mountains is awesome. The jet and the pilots are awesome. And the cool and precise way you use your camera is awesome ! Thank you for sharing ! And, most of all, this demonstrator is the two seats (B for "biplace") version of the Rafale, more rare than the one seat version on meetings.
At 23 yrs old I made a solo adventure to RIAT for the first time this year. Now after seeing videos of this airshow years ago and not knowing where it is, now I have to secure a passport and take a gap year and do a global circuit chasing those burners because these scenes are just unreal. The videos you put out of displays are just incredible your camera work is clean as always and I have to say I'm very jealous of you🤣🤣
The best Jet fighter for now in the most beautiful setup to do a demo 👍🏻 Thanks for sharing ❤ Dassault aircraft flight controls seems to be far ahead of anybody else in the industry for both jet fighters and commercial jets 👏🏻👍🏻 The demo is amazing and considering that it’s the heavier Rafale B (2 seater) version then I would have liked to see the same with the C version as it should even be more agile 😱👍🏻
The Rafale is just beautiful! As the pilot comes to land, look at how the people at the back get hit by a vortex at about 9:08 onwards. Their stuff just flies all over the place!
Wow - bonus - more flying from Mollis. A treat seeing the nimble Raphale - still great despite back lighting. Quite a rocket! Sounds good but, bet the ''feel'' when there is even better with the acoustics. 👌
hello Elwyn R, when will the videos in one of the jets in duo? that would be exceptional! nobody offer it to you .? and again a big BRAVO for your very successful video 👍
Rafale B, for two-seater for the Army. Rafale C, single-seater for the Army, Air and Space Force. Then the Rafale M, single-seater for the French Navy.
