I think he has the best version of Chopin piano concerto No.1 in history. Anyone other play this piece can not touch me so much may be even Chopin himself
2:00 such a radically different interpretation than that of an older Zimerman. Unique in his enlivening of the tremors in the left hand and the subtle phrased legato in the right hand.
Mr. Zimerman in my opinion is one of the greatest Chopin interpreters ever. The fact that he grew up in a Piano building family and has the knowledge and understanding of the art of Piano (both creating and playing) really shows and creates an unparalleled performer.
Cudownie grał. Pamiętam też profesora Jasińskiego. Kocham Chopina i wszystkich wykonawców jego utworów. To są Artyści. Miód na nasze polskie dusze. Pozdrawiam serdecznie Pana Krystiana. Wygrana w tym konkursie otworzyła mu, nie okno, a drzwi na cały świat. Brawo!!!! ✌️✌️✌️✌️🍀🍀💖
How can you judge someone who just lets their whole spirit talk through the music. In that brief instance they become the music itself. So, how can you judge the music itself?
I just watched a video of him playing Beethoven's concerto #8. He was in white hair and beard. Now this video shows him as a kid just winning the Warsaw competition. I am in a time machine!! hahaha
Best (partial) Chopin Concerto No. 1 I have ever heard. Gives me tears almost every time I listen/watch this clip. Even later recordings of the same piece by Zimerman don't have the same inspiration, fire and technical brilliance. I'd give an empire (mine is small I confess) for the entire recording of this piece.
How to get the Slavic feel? Visit Poland or other E.Europe, Russia...and listen to their folkloric songs / dance which are different from chopin's music but....when u listen to Chopin, listen to Ashkenazi play Chopin Etude #4 and nocturnes, Chaimoivich play Chopin ballad 4, Sofronitsky play Chopin ballad 3, Blechacz play the Mazurkas and other small pieces, Avdeeva play ballad 4, Ohlshon or Pollini play chopin concerto 1
@MrALCOTTS hai così ragione!!! Purtroppo questi geni immortali non ci sono più. Un genio come Beethoven o Chopin sono patrimoni del genere umano e non dei singoli paesi che hanno dato loro i natali.
haha, LOL. you are surely expert on that matter. How many polish pianist did you listen to? And please explain to everyone what is 'polish feel' and how would you characterise it? I'm VERY eager to listen to what you've got to say on that matter. I'm sure you've got a very deep knowledge of polish pianist. Maybe some examples of polish pianists and recordings that have this 'polish feel'? And "pollack" isn't a proper name of someone of polish nationality.
When l saw MAM DAD ERIKWASA CHOPINHEART SWITCH DOWN INHUMAN KICKINGS EVEN SO MUCH MORE l became more like Arthurs Rubinsteins brother revolutionairy rather than Arthur (MAMS DARLING LAST BORN
Why he was crowned 1st prize in the Chopin Intl' Piano Competition is drop jaw dumbfounding to me. His Chopin is unoriginal, unimaginative, misplaced accents, poor phrasings, and no poetry. Z plays the entire concerto in one breath w/o pause. The man doesn't understand scene change. In his later years his Chopin are so controlled and contrite, saturated with predictable trite phrasings, and frequently maudlin, all of which so much so one is apt to vomit.
