You did this like 25 years ago, but that won't stop some sweatlord from winging about how "so and so already did this, you stole his/her/its idea!!!" Mark my words. I totally forgot about this, and am now going to do this with the base on the server I'm playing on. Thanks Capp! You're aces!
Thanks for the video, Capp. I've been meaning to use a camera at my base to make an automatic door opener for myself. Camera pointing at the door with a pressure plate "doormat" for it. Camera powers the plate if it sees me, and the plate opens the door when pressure is on it. That way the door won't keep flinging open and closed when I just walk past it. 😁
BTW, I also like adding cameras to the roof to look for birds. You can add to the system by linking each camera to an automated turret as well as a light. Just remember that while you can branch from one device to several (Capp mentioned 8), no device can receive power from more than one source. (sucks sometimes because it'd be nice to have a single siren linked to the entire detection system) I also happen to like using switches for subnet power routing; it can easily complicate things but allow me to micro my defenses.
This is brilliant - I'm glad you posted an updated version because I'd never have thought of making a system like this. Just shows that there's always new things to discover in this game.
I did something similar to this in my current A20 base. The main base has automated defenses, but there are blockhouse set up with detectors leading to an indicator system in the main base. Each blockhouse is a mini fortress with its own defenses. The whole thing runs off solar and batteries. Took a long while to set it all up, but it made life a lot easier during horde nights (currently nearly day 500 in game right now).
Used a very similar system in the past. Had it set up to use the loudspeaker as an alarm and then it would actually trigger spotlights to light up that section that the alarm was going off in so if they were attacking at night, we have plenty of light sources over there that would only be on when the zombies were present. We had an additional power grid strictly for turrets that were a little lower to the ground that handled the zombies beautifully. So more or less when you where to go to grab the loot bags lol.
I’ve done something similar, except instead of lights, I had cameras trigger electric fence posts only when zombies are around. This way I would stop shocking my nipples every time I need to enter or exit my base.
I like how you explained this cause I've honestly never known how electricity works in seven days. It's very useful and I'd like more videos like this please.
As an electrician this makes me curious... if you setup a loudspeaker on the wall near the lights and run wires from all of them to it, or to a relay and then to the speaker, wouldn't that get you an audible alarm you're looking for? In my mind the power flow would travel to the speaker no matter which light was enabled, but you're the test guy so what do you think Capp?
And you CAN send the signal from the camera to the light AND the siren. You just have to have a relay in between and can split that off up to 6 separate things at the same 'on/off' motion sensor detection.
For instance: 1 line can go off and turn on turrets in that sector, one to the siren, one to the light..or multiple lights, if you wanna have multiple 'alert' stations (deep underground in case your mining for example.)
Something I've been wondering about motion sensors: People often rig them to open gates, like drawbridges etc., and use the timer function, to keep the door open for a few seconds to allow time for driving their 4x4 out. But is the timer necessary? If you set the sensor to "Triggered", won't it keep the power on for as long as it can see you, and shut off when you're out of the way?
Well, it's not an instant thing with like drawbridges, so you can easily crash or flip your 4x4 if the gate doesn't stay put. Just makes it easier to get in/out without wrecking it.
@@capp00 That's a fair point. I guess careful placement of the sensor could play a part, but it seems that the timer function is the best option after all. Thank you for explaining!
I'm not really a player but an avid watcher of 7D2D, is it possible from those lights to go into a relay which then goes to a siren? That would make it able to make a sound from any of the lights or am i thinking in normal logic in 7D2D not so logic wiring systems?
If they ever put actual 'logic circuits' in, wiring won't be as difficult in general for most of us. even the 2 basic {and} and {if ->than} circuits would increase the viability of more complex wiring jobs.
Извините, я не говорю/не читаю по-русски, поэтому я использую гугл-переводчик, чтобы ответить на это, так что, если это звучит странно, вот почему. Но великие умы думают одинаково, верно :)
