I have been trying to get this to work as a an inviteee to somebody's zoom class. I was told by zoom that free captioning is no longer available unless you pay for the business license, which has a 10 license minimum at $200 a license. I specifically asked, did you have it before for everyone and you reneged? And the help person said yes. Their printed info is kind of cagey but basically says the same thing. If I'm wrong and you can still get captioning on the free or "pro" individual license, I would sure like to know about it.
Hi Sally, I just tested to be sure things didn't change. I was able to turn on free captions in a meeting hosted by my free Zoom account and also to join a Zoom from my free account and see captions. I also couldn't find any Zoom support information that says you need a paid account to use this feature. The HOST of a Zoom meeting has to turn on captioning in order for participants to be able to use it. Has the host of the Zoom class done that?
Do you know if I can upload my own video to zoom and have it generate closed captions and then re upload to youtube? RU-vid is not generation captions on my video with voiceover for some reason.
That seems strange that RU-vid is not creating captions. You could create an SRT file with a tool like otter.ai or rev.com and then upload those captions.
@@ChadlyCreativeConsulting thanks I tried that but it would not work, typing them manually etc. Finally I uploaded another share for RU-vid file via iMovie that was higher res. Only that one and another which was too low res and blurry generated caption. RU-vid help was useless and could not figure it out. One person thought the first one which was a normal file saved to my computer had trouble with uploaded and said he did a fix on it but nothing changed. oh well, at least it finally worked. I am not sure how to save audio as an art file.
I do not have this option in my Zoom. I have buttons Participants, Chat, Share Screen, Reactions, Apps, Whiteboards. No Record or Live Transcript :( I have non-functioning Autism and great difficulty comprehending spoken speech. I always use subtitles (captions), in all programs. Usually it's just a matter of clicking on subtitles button. Zoom, despite its accessibility pledge, has decided to make it impossible for people like me to participate in meetings :(
@chadly- I am in a program where the host has decided to not enable CC in their settings. With this constraint, do I have an ability to enable CC for myself as a participant?
Thank you for the video. I can't quite seem to get the close-captioning to save on the recording. Is there a different function to change in your settings to set up for that? I couldn't find anything about subtitles in the settings. Thank you
This video is talking about captions during a Zoom call, not about transcripts/captions on a recording from a Zoom call. Live captions are free. Here's the current support article -support.zoom.com/hc/en/article?id=zm_kb&sysparm_article=KB0059762
Very helpful! But I only get one line at a time to show in the show caption area (Black background under your face). You are getting several. How do I get several lines showing?
new subscriber here, is there a way to show the closed captions for the participants? for example, I am having a meeting with u and I want to put a caption to whatever u are uttering. is it possible in zoom?
As a host you can turn on the generation of captions - for what anyone is saying. Each participant (and yourself) has control of displaying or not displaying the captions. You'll see the displaying control at 03:41 in this video.
But if host doesn't turn on generation of caption then do participants have an option to do so? What I want to ask is I am not a host but a participant and my host didn't turn on the generation of captions then also is it possible for me to do so? Atleast so that I can see CC?
Hi thank you for the video. I've checked the closed caption and live transcription on my profile but there is no CC/Live Transcript button appear on my zoom desktop?
@@ChadlyCreativeConsulting Yes I've updated the app, and my Mac version, but it just didnt show up. It did show up when I opened Zoom in a browser though. Do you have any similar experience? Thank you for replying!
@@widyawurinugrahedi4648 I haven't experienced this myself or heard from others with this problem. I hope you are able to find a fix. I don't have other ideas for you.
