ZOOM MS-70CDR on synth 

That pedal is a must have, because for less than 100 € you have a nice quality stereo fx which is very efficient on synthz ! Wonderful demo..."True" by Spandau Ballet bring me back to the best moments of my life...!!

Every synth owner should have this perfect companion. Really recommended for eurorack synths on a budget!!

Anyone who has one of these should make sure it's been updated to version 2; it adds a lot of new effect types.

That little thing is spectacular. And- the OTR soap opera organ at the end!!

What I really like about that pedal is that it has a stereo input, as well as stereo out. That makes it ideal for keyboards and for guitars when you chain it after a stereo-out multi FX unit. I think all digital multi-FX should have stereo in from now on.

Such a great pedal! Obviously a lot of options for chorus, delay, and reverb. But the unexpected part is the amount of utility. With hardware synths, just having easy access to things like Noise Gate and EQ. It even has a emulation of the BBE Sonic Maximizer in there, which they call the Exciter. Sounds really good on sequenced drums.

Well that secret's gone. Another great demonstration from you Paolo. I've been using a Zoom MS-70CDR alongside a EHX Small Stone with my Logan String Melody for a short while now and that combination keeps me very happy. All I can say is for under £80 brand new here in the UK the Zoom MS-70CDR is a must have effects pedal for those who don't have the budget for an expensive EHX or Strymon effects pedal.

When recording synths, the synth is only half the sound, the other half missing are effects....very important.

Your video hits very close to home. Purchased a new Roland U220 back around 1990 as an expander for my Juno, it had an amazing PCM acoustic piano, multi-timbral, and a great compliment to analog. There has been so many conflicting reviews on this poor little pedal with the reviewers using only presets. So finally I bought one just to find the truth in March 2020. I listened to it for a few minutes, made my own chain...listened....then immediately bought two more. This is a great pedal for synths. Sound design possibilities of the Zoom is as many as subtractive synthesis.

3:21 Yes, this box can clip on line level instruments. I have one and love it, but just keep its input level in mind.

Nice vid, Paolo! I also have one and use it with my Proteus 2000 Custom, Novation Nova and Bass Station II. It's so inspiring. Lovely pedal, and it's in stereo unlike the Zoom G1on, which I also use with these synths. God bless and keep musiccing.

Okay, that timing is *perfect.* Thank you so very much - I've been deliberating on it for a long time. Between MS-70 and MS-50, which one would you prefer for the synth? The latter supposedly has pretty much all Multistomp effects including guitar distortions with the latest update (save for some of MS-60's bass-specifics), but MS-70 has stereo effects and stereo input-output.

i have two of these. i think the built in presets don’t show the best part which are effects alone. for example good demo is analog synth with chorus (vary the parameters) or just the tape echo itself. incredibly good. you get many good effects in one package.

Thank you for this very much needed demo! It seems people either hate the Zoom or love it, so it is difficult to get a real answer. Others may say "it's so cheap just buy one and see", but those of us who are starving artists can't make that kind of frivolous investments. We need to know it is a valuable addition for our synths and Dpiano's. Today the direct competition is the effects of the new Korg Nuetekt, do you have one of these units yet for comparison?

I’ve always enjoyed Zoom effects (my first multi-effects unit was the 3030), even though I ended up not sticking with them. I recently learned that Brian May was an early customer of theirs. Does the rotary simulator include an overdrive control?

Great video! I have a BOSS ME-80 which i use for recording guitar, could i plug the mono out of a synth into the input of the multi-fx? Forgive me my noob question, but i've actually never thought about that until i just watched this video.

Hi, I'm an absolute newbie when it comes to making music, but was immediately drawn to the seemingly endless possibilities of the Zoom MS-CDR70. With that little beast even beginners sound ok ;) But I've run into a weird technical problem and hope anyone here might have an idea how to solve it: I connected the Zoom to a Yamaha MX49 V2 and the effects are great. However, once connected, the delay effect is retained despite being switched off and furthermore, stays applied to all voices on the keyboard. You can switch to other effects but the delay sound stays underneath ... Only unplugging it completely and re-powering the keyboard turns off the effect. I have already done a factory reset, the firmware version 2.10 has been installed. Has anyone run into the same issue and knows what could be the reason or what to do? I would be super grateful for an answer! Thanx!

A hint for analog folks....I run my Zoom in the aux loop of my mixer (mono send to Zoom and then stereo return) This way the pure analog will run in parallel with the digital effects. Amount of mix of analog to digital is controlled by a combination of Zoom wet/dry mix and the mixers aux amount.

the only issue i had with this pedal is the left button tends to get sticky / shorted after a while . Tried cleaning it with contact cleaner , it worked the first time, it reoccured again after 2 years , tried cleaning it again ,but no luck . but still a versatile pedal , you can still set up your chains using a computer if the hardware breaks down on you.

That Roland acoustic piano sounds terribly shrill without effects. I forgot how bad early sample modules sounded.

Was my first pedal when I first got into hardware instruments about 5 years ago. Got it because it packed a lot for little money. But I think it sounds bad (the delays and reverbs and chorus). And I don’t mean bad in a good way (like cheap 90’s and 00’s gear like the zoom 1201, which I do like).

Hi, is it possible to connect this pedal to the Roland MX-1 mixer, and apply the effects of the pedal to the various instruments connected to the MX-1? Could you guide me how to make the pedal connections on the MX-1 and the instruments?

this pedal works great on a Korg Volca! Just sayin'. 😁

You can experiment with a simple diy spring box (a piezo mic vonnrected to an output jack glued to the inside of a box which has some springs attached on the oustide) and have hours of fun! Am I the only one hearing a lot of noise in the signal? The right channel seems to be noisiest.
