Thank you so much for this video.I started focusing on my etsy store in Feb this year 8 sales in 7 months lucky it's only a passion,i had a 2$ a day spend on ads, so only breaking even.Yes all the other etsy guru's advise to discount your handmades and up your ad spend at the same time,it's very discouraging, so i now have turned the ads off see how that goes 🤗 Cheers to all
What helped me was only putting ads on my listings with high conversion rates. Saw quite a boost in sales and the majority of them are through ads. Also went through and deleted keywords that weren’t very specific for my items.
Hi, thank you for this insightful video. Does the location from where one is logging in to check make a difference? My store is Germany based, and Etsy Support (based in US) has shard some screenshots confirming that all my listings and the Shop is indexed. However when I check, from my India location, the listing that Etsy says is indexed, does not show up in my Store search function, or the general Etsy search bar, even after trying various browsers (Chrome, Safari, IE) and devices. Funnily, some of the other listings are infact showing up in my Store search. What do you make of it?
Hi Nick, have you noticed the app thumbnails are now portrait?? I’m hoping this is a test they don’t keep it after Etsy having made us fit the 4:3 crop on mobile until now… having square everywhere else for a while, now gone the complete opposite direction just for the app! Crazy… nothing is optimised for this at all, check any search…

If I have a lot of items using the same title( becoz they share the same attributes), does this affect the items searchability and Etsy's algorithm to promote these items. And if I go back to my listing and edit those listings titles to make them unique and distinguishable from each other, does this reset the algorithm etsy had for these items? Thank you!

Great video as always! I dont use Etsy ads cause it will expose my best product to competitor. There's competitor take my work and just change a bit, she even got the Bestseller before me 😢

Hi, I add a video to every listing I publish, but the video is just pictures of the product, slowly transitioning between each image without any effects (I do this through Canva, and the video looks good for the customer). My question is: Do you think this is okay for the Etsy algorithm?
If sending traffic from social media to a store on Etsy doesn't work and doesn't produce results, then how can you not redirect traffic to the pattern website, which is, how can you say, also part of ETSY?
Thanks for the video! Could you make another one with a list of who should consider using ads? From this video, I got the impression that Etsy ads aren't really worth it at all. Or are there specific situations where it makes sense to turn them on? Also, how can I boost my sales if ads aren’t effective? Should I focus on expanding my product range? But that just increases unsold inventory for physical items and wasted time for POD and digital products. So it feels like the same costs, just not in money.
How do I know If my spend is not lasting a day - does this (below) etsy notification mean that I need to up my budget. I'm trying out various of my best sellers at just $3 a day for 2 items, and removing them when they have run for a month depending on roas. I've been on Etsy years selling digital knit/sew patterns. Since starting ads my sales of other products have gone up. ""Sellers like you who regularly hit their budget ceiling saw their sales go up by 22% after increasing their ad spend by an average of 30%""

Hi, I have a question about shipping globally. Don't you need to be registered as a professional seller (trader) in the EU to ship around EU countries? For now, I am not registered as a business in Belgium. So, on Etsy, I chose to be a private individual instead of a professional seller or trader, i guess in the US these regulations do not apply. I hope I'm wrong, I would love to sell around the world, especially the products I would make myself. Greetings.
Hi there, thanks for your comment. No you do not need to be registered to ship to the EU. As far as VAT is concerned if you are located outside the EU, Etsy collects that on your behalf. I have to thank you for this video, I realize now the gurus who insist you should 'invest in yourself' by advertising everything as soon as you upload it are giving bad advice. This week I spent nearly $30 on ads, and sold $10. That's nuts. So, I have followed your advice and turned off all the ads. I will focus on uploading one thing a day and ensuring the photographs and videos are top notch.
ETSY PAID ADS BUG WARNING! Please be advised that when you create a new listing, there's a bug that adds your listing to the Etsy Ads campaign by default even if the toggle switch on your listing was set to OFF. Etsy CLAIMS to not understand this issue when I've tried to explain it to them about 3 separate times, so they're not fixing it, and it will steal your money if you're not aware of this glitch. The workaround when you create a listing is to immediately go into Etsy Ads and deactivate the listing from your Ads list manually, otherwise you will be charged Ad fees for it. This borders on malpractice, because I know that they're fully aware of this problem.
Question. So, often people will click an ad for one of my items. The ad will lead them to a different product with the “more from this shop” etc. they will then buy the second item. Etsy counts the sale as an ad click even though its a different item. Some of my products are 0 ROAS because the ad leads them to an item which has like 40+ ROAS. So do I leave both the ads running? Or only leave the one running that lead to the sale?
This video and numerous others of yours confirms what I've been seeing. My experience is Etsy ads deliver clicks to spend your budget, but those clicks aren't buyers, and because they don't spend your conversion rate drops, reducing your relevancy to Etsy. When you turn off the ads, which you will eventually will do when you realize they are just an expense, then your clicks and sales will bottom out because of the drop in relevancy, and it will take months for your shop to recover, and it will only recover if you work hard every day on your listings (that would be a useful video: What To Do When You Discontinue Etsy Advertising).
Thank you Nick for all your advice. Now I have completed 50 days of daily listings for 100 day. Now I got 4 sales in one week. That is amazing because my store was a dead store.All because of your help. Thank you again
Hi Nick, just wondering if all of your insight takes into consideration Etsy‘s new algorithm. It seems they’ve changed up a lot of their ranking logic. For instance, they consider feedback response times and clearer titles and tagsa factor.
Hi Brian, I will be the only one telling you this, the "changes" that Etsy have made to search and discovery really won't make much difference at all, and the simple reason for this is that the number 1 ranking factor on Etsy is sales velocity, and always will be. Too late, I can kick myself! All these supposedly gurus told me it was the only way. Every time one of my listings got clicked on, I got annoyed because I can see that I was losing money without gaining any sales. I finally got irritated enough to shut it off. I felt like I was giving up on myself if I turned it off. Lesson learned.
I opened at the end of july and up unitl now ive had a total of 2,477 vues and 1,343 visits. I have only had 5 sales and 2 5 star reviews. I got the sales in mid August. It was starting to build fast, then suddenly, I'm hardly getting any views and visits. Ive received plenty of likes, but im now in that place of, I dont know what to do. I think it was luck at the begining. I feel your pain, im close to giving up, but my wifes says i shouldn't, but i dont see any light at the end of the tunnel. I don't have patience. Thats part of my problem. I used ETSY adds and spent well over £100, so my money is wasted. All these videos on line keep confusing me. After watching this, I have turned off ads and will now wait. Fingers crossed. I have only 83 listings but uploading everyday. I know this hasn't helped, but I needed to rant to someone who also feels down on the dumps so far with this. I hope your shop picks up for you.

I have 500 organic sales and my shop is 1 year old. I have never run ads before, and planned on never doing it, but I decided to advertize 5 of my bestsellers and see what happens. I'm very ready to turn them off again if nothing profitable happens. But this video inpsired me to try it the right way and see what happens.
@@etsyconsultant I ran it for a complete day, no sales from the ads, but surprisngly one of my other listings that I was not advertizing sold multiple times in a row which was unexpected. I turned the ads off and my sales picked up and have been steady since. I have no idea if that was related to the ads since it did not appear to be. However, I did set up the bundling feature that Etsy just introduced yesterday and that may have increased the views to my shop.

About two months ago I read a comment that said the person turned off ads and their store was doing better. I turned off my ads and what do you know, I started getting more sales. Not crazy more, but more. Also, now I have almost $0 advertising budget so I am keeping more money now. This was a much-needed video Nick.

I am ready for my first new listing image and video to open my first etsy shop on this friday .. so based on your videos that said, i have to spent an hour / day to figuring out my store or i just leave it for a few days first to let etsy system checking my shop instead ? Also am from Indonesia, is that will be a big deal if am targeting us & global market while my store location will need to be showing in outside us ? Or i dont have to show my location instead ? Omg im watching all your videos , i was very put off by opening a esty store because of so many sellers on you tube about it, but after watching your videos iv decided to give it a go because you advice and excellent and very descriptive. @etsyconsultant is there a glitch?? I was looking at my stats today, it said my revenue went up by the purchase, but then there was no order mail, or anything was that a esty ghost...? It went back to normal after 15mins with no revenue or sale??? So confused
Hi there, thanks for taking the time to comment. What I mean is that if you want to know how to do Etsy SEO here's how to do it, but it's not something that you should 100% focus on, there are many other things needed to get those sales.
