Did I miss it or source 2 doesn't have a nodraw material/texture?! I never used hammer but have worked with Doom 3 editor, afaik it is similar how to Source 1 hammer works (but with less features...), and in that editor and engine, you build you level using brush's (block's), like in source 1 and the engine, will automatically delete backfaces during compilation! (called dmap) And even if it didn't that automatically, you could still do the Quake days trick of using a nodraw (caulk) material has default texture, then you only needed to re-texture the visible faces and all other faces would be automatically deleted at compilation time because caulk forced it, no need to waste time deleting hidden faces! Also in Doom 3 editor, making a basic room with blocks, is a single click, you just create a cube like you did, select it and then press "make room" button and the editor will create a room, made of individual blocks.
Two things to note: If you are struggling with the Bevel not behaving correctly and making a pentagon or similar, ensure your grid size = 16. If you are struggling with the mirror tool mentioned at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pdSDojRatHw.html My tool is not default mapped to shift + s instead it is mapped to shift + f. If neither work, open Tools -> Options -> Key Bindings and search for the "ToolMirror"
definitely not a beginner course, 4 minutes in and I have paused and rewound dozens of times to try and catch key presses for shortcuts and shit and end up having to google when I don't even know wtf is happening or what anything is called because I'm trying to learn
I finish my second map after your alyx tutorial and face a lot of problems at UV. It is just too difficult to understand for a beginner. But I keep forgetting ot understanding the modeling hotkeys and logics if I don't practice in a actual map.
My gosh, I had followed you all the way from Alyx hammer editor series, finish all of that, and come to you CS series. Had to say CS series is too much faster than the alyx editor one, I am glad I had finish all that courses. You 've done such a great job, and I am truely appreciate all the time and effort you made this.
Hey! My game CTD's whenever I place a prop/object into the scene and use GPU Path Tracing, do you have any idea what could be causing this? I have an RTX capable AMD card
Please make a tutorial for surf maps. The surf rails in Hammer 2 are so hard to master and you get stuck if you change the degrees. I cant find any tutorials online only some for Hammer 1 that dont help. Please. PS: Love your Videos!
The video has great editing and flow! There are two things I'd like to point out though. The microphone quality could be increased, and also pay attention to the sound mixing. For example, the voice at the end can hardly be heard. Can't wait to see more of these. Keep it up. 👍
this format but more centered on rotation loops and timings and angles to clear and utility pls. ps: inferno is a bad map that plays the same all the time because it isn't open enough. was good format for arena shooter gameplay, not for slow and tactical physics that csgo introduced. personally i would benefit most from seeing the planning process in more details. i had a lot of fun just building random stuff back in the days, but trying to hit professional standards is a planning nightmare solo
How should we quit the play test of the map after we're done testing it and want to go back to working on it in hammer? do I just type "disconnect" in the console of the windowed game play test? Thank you so much for this incredible resource too!! I really appreciate it :D
@@eagleonedevelopmentteam849 I don't know discord and I'm not good to talk to you in English. But I'm able to write in English. I have a lot of questions about Hammer for Alyx. So it is possible to exchange with you by writing? Maybe by discord.
do you know how to get smooth shadows on cylinders? How do we view luxels size on each texture? View lightmap in hammer 2 does not exist. I can view them in the console mat_luxels command. Is there an option in the viewer to see these boxes? How do you adjust luxel size on texture surface?
Very good video, I learned a lot of new things about audio in source 2, but I still had a small doubt about how to leave the audio playing in a loop in a specific area
You just have to change editing mode from "use selection's local space" to "use world space". It's in the top bar where "select", "editing", "view", etc.
thnx for awesome guide! Buy I have an issue. I can create map but if I tried publish map hammer always publish my first map! I deleted my first map but it always publish my first map.. I dont understand.. can you help me!
Why is there so little content for CS 2 or source 2 overall ? So many maps are still need to be made, we got the exact same textures as CSGO, theres a couple of new model sure but not that many and they all feel the same. Why isn't there more content for CS 2 or source 2 ?
Thank you for the video. I would like a tutorial about how to make a smooth transition form the water in the playable map to the 3D skybox, like in de_anubis. How to correctly place the combined lightprobes cubemaps and what settings to use.
